Sharing her journey with candor and depth, Deacon Adina Meyer shared her fascinating narrative on the Your Radical Truth Podcast, hosted by Margaret Mary O'Connor. Throughout this informative episode, Deacon Adina explored the pivotal moments and profound insights that have shaped her path towards priesthood within the Catholic Church.   To Be Baptized and Confirmed: A Foundation of Faith In 1989, Adina Meyer took her first steps into the Catholic Church, embarking on a path that would intertwine her faith with her life's purpose. As she embraced roles as an RCIA teacher and Cantor, Deacon Adina found fulfillment in serving her community, yet the call to ministry lingered beneath the surface.   Awakening to Vocation: A Transformative Experience In 2013, Meyer's life took an unexpected turn during her attendance at the SOA Vigil in Fort Benning, GA. It was here that she witnessed a woman presiding over an inclusive mass, igniting a profound realization of her own calling to priesthood. This revelation shattered barriers and propelled her towards a new understanding of her faith.   Pursuing the Call: Education and Mentorship Driven by her newfound sense of purpose, Deacon Adina made the courageous decision in 2019 to leave her role as a high school humanities religious teacher and pursue full-time studies at Portland Seminary. Under the guidance of mentors like Diane Whelan, she became associated with the Holy Wisdom Inclusive Catholic community, laying the groundwork for her future as a priest.   Ordination and Service: Answering the Call After years of preparation and discernment, Adina was ordained as a Deacon in the Catholic Church with RCWP last summer. This milestone marked a significant step in her journey towards priesthood. With graduation from seminary looming, she is poised to be ordained as a priest on May 25th, ready to continue her service and ministry within her community.   Challenging Misconceptions: Redefining Leadership In her conversation on the Your Radical Truth Podcast, Deacon Adina addressed common misconceptions surrounding women in religious leadership roles. She emphasized that her calling to priesthood stemmed from a deep sense of service rather than a desire for power. Additionally, she spoke passionately about the importance of accepting individuals from all walks of life, including the LGBTQ+ community, within the Catholic Church.   A Trailblazer's Legacy: Inspiring Others Deacon Adina Meyer's journey from devoted Catholic educator to ordained Deacon and soon-to-be priest is a testament to the transformative power of faith and courage.   As she continues her ministry, her story serves as an inspiration to individuals seeking to challenge traditional norms and pave the way for a more inclusive and compassionate religious community. Through her dedication and unwavering commitment, Deacon Adina is reshaping the narrative of religious leadership and leaving an indelible mark on the Catholic Church and beyond.  Enjoy more at: https://yourradicaltruth.com/021-adina-meyer

Prepare to embark on a profound journey through the intricacies of the Catholic Church as we delve into Episode 11 of Your Radical Truth podcast. In this episode, host Margaret Mary O'Connor engages in a candid conversation with the remarkable Bishop Cáit Finnegan-Grenier, offering a glimpse into the concealed truths that often lie beneath the surface.   Bishop Cáit's life story is nothing short of extraordinary. Born into an Irish family deeply rooted in music and poetry, she draws spiritual inspiration from her beloved grandmother, setting the stage for a unique spiritual journey. From there, she followed a winding path to become an ordained priest in the Celtic Christian Church and a member of the Order of the Merciful Christ.   But this path was not straightforward. It was shaped by an unlikely love story – her marriage to an ordained priest in 1980. Together, they faced numerous trials and tribulations, ultimately leading them to establish the Good Tidings Ministry, a platform dedicated to addressing the painful issue of sexual abuse within the Church.   This experience reinforced Cáit's belief in the urgent need for individuals within the Church who serve willingly, transcending clerical entitlement. Her ministry extends to providing spiritual guidance to abuse victims and priests transitioning from clerical life.   The conversation takes a thought-provoking turn as it explores the challenges faced by married priests and their spouses within the Catholic Church. Bishop Cáit and her husband recognized the need for support within their community, giving rise to the Good Tidings Ministry, which offered assistance, legal guidance, and a network for individuals navigating complex relationships involving priests.   Abuse scandals within the Church are also addressed head-on. The discussion underscores the importance of accountability and sheds light on the parallels between victims of abusive priests and those of abusive sisters. Bishop Cáit emphasizes the critical necessity of acknowledging wrongdoing, breaking free from institutional structures, and protecting all victims.   The impact of celibacy on the priesthood is another critical topic of conversation. Bishop Cáit acknowledges that celibacy can pose significant challenges, with some priests not genuinely called to it, leading to loneliness and personal struggles. She believes that celibacy, in many ways, affects the priesthood's image and attractiveness to new vocations.   Throughout the episode, you are introduced to the Celtic Christian Church, a spiritual home that welcomes individuals of diverse backgrounds, orientations, and experiences. This inclusive environment provides a refreshing alternative to traditional Catholicism, emphasizing spiritual richness and openness.   Bishop Cait's story is a testament to the courage of individuals committed to uncovering hidden truths and advocating for change within the Church. It also highlights the transformative power of Celtic spirituality, providing an inclusive and welcoming spiritual home for people from all walks of life.   Explore these profound insights into the Catholic Church and spirituality by visiting www.YourRadicalTruth.com/011-Cait-Finnegan .  #YourRadicalTruth #CatholicChurch #Inclusivity #Transformation #CelticSpirituality #AbuseScandals
Survivors of abuse often find themselves living a secret existence, hidden behind a curtain of pain and shame. The scars they bear are not just physical; they cut deep into the core of their being, leaving emotional wounds that fester in silence.   Yet, there are those who refuse to let their voices be stifled, who summon the courage to step into the spotlight and break free from the shadows of their past. Sinead O'Connor was one such individual, a true testament to the power of defiance and the resilience of the human spirit.   Sinead’s Formative Years   Growing up as an Irish Catholic woman, Sinead O'Connor faced a world that often misunderstood her. She possessed a rare gift—undeniable talent as a songwriter and artist—that set her on the precipice of stardom.   But beneath the surface, beneath the allure of her burgeoning fame, lay a fierce determination to expose the truth about child abuse within the Catholic Church.   In an audacious act of protest, Sinead O'Connor took center stage on Saturday Night Live, armed not with a microphone, but with a symbol of her dissent.   Clutching a picture of former Pope John Paul II, she tore it to pieces, a defiant gesture aimed at redirecting the world's attention towards the heinous reality of child priest sexual abuse. It was a move that shook the establishment to its core, a stark reminder that sometimes, one must shatter the status quo to bring about change.   Visit: http://www.yourradicaltruth.com/010-Sinead-Oconnor

This is Father Anne’s second visit to the Your Radical Truth Podcast Show. Digging deeper into what it means to be a woman in a leadership role in the Catholic Church, host Margaret Mary O’Connor and Father Anne discuss the history of the Church like you’ve never heard it before. A question Father Anne receives frequently is, “Why did you choose ‘Father’ as your title?” She chose the title for a few reasons. First, in the Roman Catholic Church, this is a conduit of a symbol heavily relied upon of God’s action in and through the symbolism. Father Anne is fully aware that she is stretching the symbol to include the body of a woman, and this is a way to expand the Catholic imagination. Taking on the same commitments as her male counterparts, such as celibacy, prayers of the Roman Missal and the traditional language of the church, Father Anne is one of 260 ordained Roman Catholic Priests around the world. Father Anne is fully aware that many Catholics are not on board with women being ordained. And yet, this is part of her ministry… raising awareness. Both Margaret Mary O’Connor and Father Anne feel the need to raise this awareness about changing times.  According to both, Catholics are unprepared for the normal growth that must take place if we are in relationship with a living God. http://www.YourRadicalTruth.com
