The hosts of Blowback Podcast report back from Colombia and Cuba! For an extended version of this episode, support the show at http://patreon.com/thiswreckageIn Bogota, they attended a conference of the Progressive International that drafted a declaration for countering the Donroe Doctrine. And in Havana, they witnessed immediate results of Trump's full blockade of oil imports, leaving the island with only 3 weeks of fuel before the power grid fails.Along the way we talk about various forms of ice protests in New York, the lack of internationalist power among the (North) American left, the twisting road of recent US-Cuban foreign policy, the afterlife of the Pink Tide, and some tips on visiting Cuba while you still can.Show notes: Rubio seeks regime change in Cuba: https://www.bellyofthebeastcuba.com/rubio-no-end-to-cuba-sanctions-without-regime-changeThe Progressive International's San Carlos Declaration: https://progressive.international/wire/2026-01-25-nuestra-amrica/en/Trump says US in talks with Cuban leadership: https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026/feb/01/us-is-in-talks-with-cuban-leadership-says-trump-after-blockade-threatsRussia supplying air defenses? https://www.defensenews.com/global/the-americas/2026/02/02/russian-cargo-plane-arrives-in-cuba-echoing-frantic-caracas-buildup/Song: Celina González - Décimas de la Revolución

Sean and Andy are joined by Connor Mulhern, lead researcher at the Reactionary International Research Consortium, and Henry Wallace, head honcho at the New International Magazine and Franco-American raconteur, to discuss the networks of power and influence behind the rise of right populist movements across the globe. How might this reactionary global influence network compare to the unsuccessful 20th century attempt to create a fascist international or the relative successes of the Mount Pelerin Society later on? Where does an increasingly reactionary Silicon Valley fit in? What is the connection between Trumpism and the burgeoning European post-fascist movement? And how might they be confronted and defeated without the working class allying itself with the avatars of a dying liberal order like Keir Starmer and Kaja Kallas?https://reactionary.international/cases/ https://www.newintermag.com/washington-is-no-ally/https://www.nytimes.com/2025/12/11/opinion/national-security-strategy-us-europe.htmlTo listen to the full episode and all our wonderful bonus content become a supporter of our show at http://patreon.com/thiswreckageSong: JPEG Mafia - Vulgar Display of Power

Sean and Andy are joined by Marco and Luke of the UK collective Angry Workers of the World, here to discuss their practical activity and intellectual output since the publication of Class Power on Zero Hours several years ago. They also present their relatively new healthcare industry project whose publication Vital Signs seeks to analyze how medical labor, in all its industrial diversity and its day-to-day struggles, might prefigure a world where our class has taken responsibility for production and reproduction of society. This is a wide-ranging and fascinating discussion with fellow workers who are grappling with the biggest questions facing our class at the moment. If you're interested in their project or starting something similar where you live and work they have asked especially healthcare workers in the US to reach out to collaborate with them at Vital Signs. To become a patron and support our work go to www.patreon.com/thiswreckageSong: Megadeath - Angry Again

Sean and Andy are joined by British-Nigerian writer and podcaster, Ralph Leonard, to talk about identity, politics and the Anglo Ummah. We discuss the parlous state of the nationalist left, what a proletarian socialist politics might look like in the 21st century and what might possibly be conserved of the classical Marxist movement which died in the beginning of the last century. Along the way we bring up the morphing politics of identity, the uneasy cohabitation between left populism and Islamism in the UK, remigration as capitalist politics and how pre-politics might could get us out of this mess. This is the first half of a full length conversation you can access by becoming a supporter of our show at www.patreon.com/thiswreckageFall book promotion: https://www.patreon.com/posts/fall-promotion-138957785Articles mentioned:https://buffsoldier-96.medium.com/can-israel-survive-for-100-years-8dbdd5bc9abfhttps://unherd.com/2023/07/mcdonalds-made-me-a-marxist/https://unherd.com/newsroom/is-kemi-badenoch-downplaying-her-nigerian-identity-for-political-gain/Song: The Equals - Baby Come Back

Jack Z. Bratich chats about the concept of "microfascism," a term coined by Deleuze as part of their project of tracing “the genealogy and the permanence of certain fascist machineries” in order “to refuse to allow any fascist formula to slip by, on whatever scale it may manifest itself, including within the scale of the family or even within our own personal economy." Happy Thanksiving! The concept suggests that fascist impulses don't just come from "above" (authoritarian leaders) but can emerge from "below" in how people treat each other daily. Deleuze and Guattari believed everyone has some "fascist" potential—desires for domination, control, or submission. Bratich's work looks at the idea in the current context of MAGA, stochastic terrorism, and the manosphere.Buy his book On Microfascism: Gender, War, Death and Conspiracy Panics: Political Rationality and Popular Culture from Common Notions.3WF interview: https://threewayfight.org/antifascism-in-2025-shane-burley-interviews-xtn-alexander-and-matthew-n-lyons/Klaus Theweleit's Male Fantasies: https://monoskop.org/images/5/54/Theweleit_Klaus_Male_Fantasies_Vol_1_Women_Floods_Bodies_History.pdfSupport This Wreckage and join our Discord discussion by signing up to Patreon

In 1968, Huey P. Newton told an interviewer that whites who wanted to support the Black Panthers should create the White Panther Party. Later that year, a trio of Michigan radical artists (John Sinclair, Leni Sinclair, and Pum Plamondon) did just that. Gaining notoriety from their campaigns to legalize marijuana, support political prisoners, and the popularity of revolutionary rockers the MC5, the White Panthers formed chapters around the country, and continued their activity through the seventies, long after other New Left formations dissolved.Among them was our guest today, Larry Weissman, aka DJ PreSkool. He joined the party in 1971 until he was jailed during a public dispute over gun rights against mayor Dianne Feinstein. We talk about the history of WPP, their political line, their alliances and disagreements with other New Left groups, the importance of weed and rock n' roll to their program, and how he continues that spirit today as house DJ in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.Check out PreSkool's Underground Syllabus Friday at Casette in Ridgewood, Queens: https://dice.fm/event/eoanp6-dj-preskools-underground-syllabus-14th-nov-cassette-new-york-city-ticketsDJ PreSkool's BandcampRead Guitar Army by John SinclairMore on WPP food program: https://www.foundsf.org/Hard-Left_Politics_Enters_the_People%E2%80%99s_Food_SystemMore on WPP wiretaps and entrapment: https://www.necessarystorms.com/home/watergate-wiretaps-and-the-white-panther-partyhttps://fifthestate.anarchistlibraries.net/library/101-march-19-april-1-1970-the-history-of-president-pigCheck out the rest of the Armed Love Series: https://www.patreon.com/collection/87680?view=expandedSong: Henry Rollins & Bad Brains - Kick Out the Jams

I actually started researching a couple years ago and almost compiled into a book, essentially it seems what Aaron has done, but specifically a focus on the way in which "Unemployment" is measured in the US, the ways in which it is designed to specifically support the neoliberal structure, and how not measuring underemployment keeps us from truly understanding the real economic landscape and failures of our modern economy to meet the needs of any functional, cohesive society. I got Aaron's book a few weeks ago but haven't started it yet; am certainly looking forward to it.

I think the idea that we are anywhere near a dynamic in America where you can have more of an impact trying to influence a system like the criminal justice hellhole from the outside than from the inside is entirely a pipe dream, and although it sounds harsh, naive. I have become way more open to different types of direct and indirect action over the last few years, but I was stuck inside of this system for years and saw the influence by lawmakers and total unity within it's halls to keep everything functioning the exact way it is, and this is a monster that is going to need a virus. It's going to need to be infected from the inside along with a strong outside movement to represent the community that is not going to keep tolerating it. Inside that institution, from the police departments to parole to prisons to the court houses and even social workers, there is so much unity you would think they were all born into the same happy conservative family. I saw a very good guy recently get ab
