Are we being punished by a stern judgmental God, are we being attacked by the devil, or is suffering just random unfair circumstances? Open your Bible and join us now as we discuss this important topic.

The longer I live, the more I become aware of the brevity of life. While this could make one pessimistic, for many Christians it emphasises a message of hope for the future eternal life. Here at 3ABN we are in the business of sharing the good news of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. With that thought in mind, I refer to something that the writer of Hebrews said. “through His death, Jesus destroyed the devil who had the power of death.” Today’s study will talk about living for Jesus Christ. It will touch on witnessing for Him, regardless of the consequences.

Being thankful has a powerful effect on our bodies. Studies reveal gratefulness reduces stress and burnout, while enhancing happiness and emotional well-being. But it gets better. The studies also reveal women with high gratitude live about 9% longer on average, thus tying a link between a grateful mindset and an extended lifespan in older adults. As good as that is, there is another powerful link to gratitude and thankfulness. Join us for today’s study looking into the link between prayer and gratitude.

Today’s lesson begins a new Bible study series looking at the Epistles of Paul to the Philippians and Colossians. Join us as we become familiar with these two letters, and gain powerful insights from them on how to face life’s difficulties.

You may remember simple promises your parents would make to you. Things like “Tidy up your room and then you can go out to play.” Parents mostly fulfill their promises. Politicians make promises, but for one reason or another, they can’t always keep them. When the Bible hero Joshua reviewed his life, he could say that not one of God’s promises had failed. Think about how faithful God has been to you. Have His promises been true and trustworthy? Today’s study will dig into God’s faithfulness.

There are always times in life where you misunderstand what a friend or family member says, or what they do, or what their intentions were. This can cause your view of that person to be significantly tarnished. You might feel that your trust in them has been broken, and this could result in a serious break down in the relationship. Even worse, major conflict can result. Today’s lesson will explore a story from ancient Israel just like that.

In life we meet good and bad role models. As a child growing up, I had people I admired. Sometimes it was a teacher or a member of the clergy, but most influential were my parents. When we have good characters to admire, we are blessed. Today’s lesson will investigate two great role models from the Bible – Joshua and Caleb. Giants of the faith.

Reformer Martin Luther said “I have so much to do that I shall spend the first three hours in prayer.” Luther knew prayer was the priority that empowered and organised the rest of his daily activities.Joshua and the Israelites had crossed the Jordan and were now in enemy territory. Ahead lay challenges in the war zone too great for them to overcome by themselves. Today’s lesson will discuss Israel’s priorities. Were they on weapons, strategies, and manpower? Or, were they on worship and heart preparation through ceremonies, sharpening their spiritual perception and calibrating their loyalty to the Lord? Stay with us for this important discussion.

It amazes me how easily us humans make covenants and agreements with God when trouble strikes, then too often, when the emergency has passed, we treat lightly the commitment we’ve made. The question is: how important are those covenant commitments we make to God? Today’s lesson will uncover just how important they are.

The book of Joshua contains disturbing scenes that on face value may appear to be indiscriminate genocide of the Canaanites. But was it? And if it wasn’t, why wasn’t it? Today’s lesson will delve into the serious questions raised by the concept of a divine or holy war. Did God promise to fight for the Israelites to destroy the Canaanites? You wont want to miss this!

The God of the Old Testament is often seen as a warmonger. He sends His armies to fight and to kill, yet the New Testament refers to Him as the God of Peace. Today’s lesson will investigate Joshua’s war plan to defeat Jericho. It will also examine the very first war, helping us understand God’s attitude towards war.

When the Israelites left Egypt, they were confronted by the Red Sea, an impossible barrier to cross. But God miraculously parted the sea and the people walked across on dry land. 40 years later, between the Israelites and the promised land is another body of water: the Jordan River in spring flood. Join us as we discuss the testing of their faith and God’s memorial of grace.

After 40 years in the wilderness, a second generation of Israelites were standing on the border of the promised land, ready to enter. The threat posed by the Canaanite military had not changed, but the Israelite’s faith had. Today’s lesson will look at their faith, and God’s grace not only to the Israelites, but also to a Canaanite prostitute, her family, and the inhabitants of a Canaanite city called Gibeon.

This lesson wraps up our study of the Book of Exodus. It has been an exciting journey that began with the Children of Israel falling into Egyptian slavery. It captured their deliverance and the struggles of their journey through the wilderness. The journey has been one of triumph mingled with tragedy, a journey requiring great faith. Today’s episode explores the construction of ‘The Tabernacle’ – the place God chose to dwell among the Israelites.

Biological growth is a permanent increase in size. It can take place steadily over time, or occur in spurts. Growth can be rapid, or slow. Whatever the type of growth, for living things there is no going back to a smaller size, but a steady march forward. The last few lessons have been tracking the growth of Moses as he grows in his understanding of God. Has Moses finally reached his peak? Today’s lesson will unpack a polite request Moses made to God.

Is it possible to experience powerful supernatural miracles from the almighty God every day, and still turn away to worship idols of your own making? Although this sounds ridiculous, that’s exactly what some of the Israelites did. Today’s lesson will investigate their apostasy, and Moses’ intercession.
