After receiving an ICD (implantable cardioverter defibrillator) in January of 2000, Sara Meslow learned of a camp in California for children with heart disease and decided to volunteer. When she discovered that there wasn’t a similar camp in the Midwest, she helped start what we know today as Camp Odayin. Camp Odayin’s mission is to provide a fun, safe and supportive camp experience and community building opportunities for young people with heart disease and their families.
