Great information here. I was thinking another way that this theory has crept into the church is through backlash to the child rearing methods of Bill Gothard, along with the others mentioned, that many raised within the church were exposed to.
Question: The first reason given for suicide being wrong is that it is a sin to take a life, even your own, but the second reason given is that only God can take life. So is God sinning by taking life given that line of reasoning? I can see clients arguing that point.
I love this so much! Calling loneliness a "dashboard warning light" is brilliant. It's not something to be feared or medicated, but to trigger awareness of our deepest need not being met by the Savior. I can't wait to get my hands on your book. I ordered a lot of copies to share in counseling. May the Lord bless you.
Sadly, I did not feel hope after listenin to this. I felt guilty. Which is probably my pride. Going to listen again to see what I missed.🥺
So so good 👍! ! Not sheltering but shepherding and engaging!
I'm not a ACBC counselor, but I do seek to speak truth into other sisters lives and I found this episode very helpful and insightful. Thank you for this and for all previous episodes! -Anita
I very much enjoyed this podcast but a common theme I'm hearing is inconsistency in the volume caused by not being close enough to the microphone I think, this makes it difficult to listen to as the volume keeps needing to be adjusted. I know it's only a little thing but I thought you'd want to know so you can work it out for next time. My sincere thanks for always staying true to scripture and tackling those big topics, it's had a huge impact on my relationships and work with young people
