Topics:I start with talking about the importance of having an awareness around your current habits. More particularly, being aware of the unhelpful habits that you may currently have and working with those as a very first step.I then move on to look and offer tips on habit formation from the perspective of the different personality types. For goals-driven personality types:1. Cut your larger goals into smaller manageable goals.2. Track your progress toward your bigger goal.3. Celebrate your successes along the way.For process-driven personality types:1. Prioritize consistency, and forget about perfection.2. Incorporate reflection time.3. Batch off similar tasks and complete them at the same timeFor rewards-driven personality types:1. Set clear milestones for yourself that are punctuated by rewards.2. Reward consistency, not just the target.3. Build a visual tracker of your progress. Finally, and this applies to all forms of habit formation and all personality types: - Plan for and know there will be setbacks and obstacles along the way. - Recognize and accept that you are going to have off days. - As long as those moments don’t themselves turn into habits, it’s all part of the process and the cycle. - Once you’ve acknowledged that you’ll face obstacles along the way, plan ahead, the best you can. Empowerment is about taking control of your life, and about making positive choices. By being empowered, you build the confidence you need to pursue your goals and your dreams. It's also a way of recognizing your self-worth. I believe that empowerment is a mindset. It is a way of being in the world, which allows you to navigate life's challenges with grace, and with resilience. I have three quick-fire tips on taking steps toward empowerment. My first quick-fire tip is to recognize your agency in a situation. In the face of a difficult or unpleasant situation, there will be a range of choices and courses of action open to you. Once you’ve explored what these are, it may be that you favour none of the options. But knowing that you have choices reduces feelings of helplessness, and feelings of disempowerment. In turn, your confidence around the situation will eventually grow, in the knowledge that you do have choices. My second quick-fire tip is to connect to and listen to your intuition. Intuition is that deep seated knowing that you all have. It’s the ability to understand something instinctively and intrinsically, without the need for logic or for reasoning. By following your intuition, your inner compass, you will start to develop a sense of self-confidence which will make you feel more empowered. My third quick-fire tip is to focus on the joy! By being joyful – and grateful – you can subvert a lot of the scarcity mania that’s in our daily news currently. Scarcity culture breeds the opposite of empowerment, and leads to fear. I hope you enjoy the show. Note:Whilst I discuss mental health awareness on my show, I am not a medical doctor and am not qualified to give mental health advice. Imposter syndrome is when you experience self-doubt, or feel inadequate in some way. There are ways to overcome this.My top five tips for dealing with imposter syndrome are:1. Be your authentic self. If you try to overcome imposter syndrome by being someone you think others want you to be, you will be doing yourself - and others a huge disservice.2. Take some time to focus on past successes. Remind yourself that you can, you have and you will achieve success.3. Embrace the fact that perfection is a myth. Do this by setting realistic expectations of yourself. 4. Reframe the feeling of self-doubt. If something historic is causing your self-doubt to manifest - an event, or something someone said for instance - go back to that moment in time, and view it from the perspective of what you gained. What was the learning, the improvement that followed in your life?5. Focus on growth. Do this by gaining experience and knowledge - which you inevitably will - just by showing up.Resources:https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/neuroscience-in-everyday-life/202308/the-history-of-imposter-syndrome#:~:text=The%20genesis%20of%20imposter%20syndrome,rather%20as%20a%20%22phenomenon.%22Note:Whilst I discuss mental health awareness on my show, I am not a medical doctor and am not qualified to give mental health advice. Here are my three quick-fire tips to help you with your public speaking.1. Always, always BE AUTHENTIC. No one wants to hear you being someone else. You don't want to be someone else! Be your authentic self - you're the best! 2. PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE. This means doing at least one dry run through of your talk or presentation - out loud! It also means watching and listening to others who have given talks to see what you can learn from them.3. PAUSE for effect. People hate silence - especially when they are with other people! Use that to your advantage - if there is a point in your presentation that you wish to emphasise, pause just before making that point, and your audience will be on tenterhooks waiting to hear what you have to say. Enjoy the show, and good luck with your talk!Reach out to me for additional tips and in-depth coaching.Contact:Instagram: @shuvradeb LinkedIn: @ShuvraDebTikTok: @shuvra.deb7Email: shuvradeb82@gmail.comWebsite: https://www.shuvradebmentor.com/ (geographical restrictions apply) The “Shuvra Deb: With You” Podcast is inspired and brought to you by Shuvra Deb. On this show, I discuss ways in which we can all find our true purpose in life. I talk about how in those quiet moments in our lives, whether that’s achieved through meditation or perhaps being out in Nature, we can quieten our minds. In the words of Eckhart Tolle, those quiet moments allow us to “experience with increasing frequency the joy of perceiving with little or no interference of thinking”. By quietening our minds, we invite in our true essence, which leads us to finding our life’s true purpose.Note:Whilst I discuss mental health awareness on my show, I am not a medical doctor and am not qualified to give mental health advice. By slowing down and standing still, we allow ourselves to move forward. We start to be able to regulate our Parasympathetic Nervous System (PNS) which is the part of the body that brings us back to a calm state after a stressful event. Chronic stress prevents the PNS from functioning properly. By maintaining a healthy PNS, we allow ourselves the grace to be in a position of strength, even when we receive bad news, or are put under a sudden tight deadline at work. Maintaining practices that lead to a less stressful life means that we are much less likely to react with a panic reaction when a stressor enters our lives. I discuss the 15-minute rule where I invite you to take just 15 minutes out of your day to meditate. Or, take 15 minutes a day to start and progress a project that is important to you. Finally, I take you through a guided meditation in this episode. Sit back, relax and enjoy! Today's topic is all about self-confidence and how to overcome low self-confidence. I discuss some of the causes of low self-confidence, such as having unrealistic expectations of yourself, or having coping mechanisms that are unhelpful to you. My top tips for overcoming low self-confidence that I am offering you today are:Embracing failure. By embracing failure, you build resilience, and you learn new things along the way. Then, when the successes come, they are even more tantalising! Getting out of your comfort zone. By doing that, you open up space for new and remarkable things to step into your life.Setting achievable goals. This is from the perspective of breaking down longer-term goals into smaller stages and steps That way you can keep track of where you are and see your achievements along the way. Managing your negative self-talk. Getting confident whilst experiencing unhelpful rumination is difficult.Practising self-compassion. Become more self-aware of your thoughts. Then manage these with rationality and - you guessed it - confidence. I hope the show helps! On this show, I continue to explore negative self-talk. I look at this from the perspective of how negative self-talk can have the effect of causing us to procrastinate over taking action, or how it can cause us not to take any action at all.I discuss the different types of procrastinator that have been identified by Dr. Linda Sapadin, PhD. Do you identify with either of these broad types of procrastination? Do you feel worried or anxious around the task over which you are procrastinating? Alternatively, are you bored or frustrated by the task?If these sound familiar, tune in, and listen to my quick-fire tips that will help you: Write down all your skills, talents and achievements. You will work with these. Identify the cause of your procrastination with precision. This will allow you to move towards a solution. Visualize yourself undertaking the project or achieving your dream. Feeling yourself live the experience will get you there quicker.Resource:Time Management - The 4Ds Quadrant: https://fourweekmba.com/the-four-ds-of-time-management/ Note:Whilst I discuss mental health awareness in this show, I am not a medical doctor and am not qualified to give mental health advice.
