In this episode of the Lure Fishing Podcast I talk with Captain Coral Rose Aiello who became first mate on her fathers charter boat ''the Coral Rose'' at 14. After more than a decade or more of hard work and dedication. In 2023 she assumed captain’s duties on the Coral Rose, with first mate and Dad Joe at her side!She holds her USCG 100 Ton Masters License and serves on the RI Marine Fisheries Council representing the recreational fishing category. Coral talks about the Striped bass fishing, Tautog and fluke fishing, and daily life a a charter boat skipper. Coral is an inspiration with her enthusiam, knowledge and her willingness to help and educate others.From Captain Joe, “Coral started out on this boat as a shy young girl and has blossomed into a strong confident woman.  She’s an inspiration and demonstrates real girl power. Coral is a real asset in the charter service and I don’t like to leave the dock without her.  She’s a true comrade.”

In this episode if the Lure Fishing Podvast i chat with David Lyons from Tackling Minds. Tackling minds was formed in February 2020 David Lyons was inspired to start Tackling Minds, as he had suffered from past mental health problems, and fishing played a vital role in him managing his illness. He claims that if it wasn’t for fishing, he doesn’t think he’d be here to tell his story. David now wants to pass on his knowledge, gained from his own experiences, to show other people how fishing can benefit them too.  And so, sitting on the bank with his rods in his hands, Tackling Minds was born. Tackling Minds aims to get people, from all walks of life, into fishing. Be it, Mental Health, Social Deprivation, addiction and recovery, disabilities, Families and Long-Term Health. The work Tackling Minds has done so far is amazing. The NHS now prescribes fish as a treatment for depression on the NHS as a direct result of Tackling Minds. This is a lovely conversation with a great guy very worth a listen.

In Episode 27 of the Lure Fishing Podcast I catch up with passionate bass angler Matt Cumbers. In 2017 Matt decided that he wanted to try design and produce his own lures. It was then Drift was born and fast forward to 2024 Drift Lures are with over 100 tackle suppliers in the UK and Ireland. Matt is passionate about his lure fishing and he gives a great insight into what it takes to get from concept stage to actual designing and creating a lure that not only works well but is durable and affordable. If you have ever though about designing your own lure as many of us have, this is a really interesting conversation. Matt is very passionate about his lure making and shares some of the vast knowledge that he has gained through the designing and testing of his lures. Drifts ethos is not just to sell lures, but to innovate, teach and promote conservation.

Danny has worked in the fishing industry since his teens Working with high end lure brands such as Shimano, Costa, Megabass, IMA, Lucky craft, Sakura, Savage gear, Zman. He was also team coordinator and social media manager for Costa Glasses Uk. Danny is also passionate about Fly fishing working with brands like Vision and Guideline along with other various fly tying materials company’s His current work within fishing continues down the brand ambassador lines as well as splitting being a full time single dad to a 5 year old Daughter and working in his local tackle shop. Danny is an original angling influencer and all round social media guru He has a huge passion for all types of angling in particularly Bass and Wrasse fishing. In this podcast he shares some of his vast knowledge on tactics and watercraft for his angling that he has well and truly honed over the years.
