Description

When it comes to making meaningful connections with people in the LGBTQ community, it can be brutal out there. But does it have to be? Love's a Pitch is a show about love, dating, desire, and ultimately, putting yourself out there. Each week, a new guest will pitch themselves to listeners, making their case for why they're a catch and joining the host in a conversation about all things love and dating. If you like what you hear, you can follow up and shoot your shot, or play matchmaker for a friend, or go do something nice for your partner so that they never leave you and you'll never have to put yourself out there like this. Hosted by comedian Carolyn Bergier from the popular Dyking Out and A League of Their Own Recap podcasts, Love's a Pitch is full of laughs, sincerity, and queer longing.

Olivia Titus (she/her) is a queer woman working in reality TV casting & development. She is newly single, an Aries, super family-oriented, and currently living in New York City. Olivia is originally from just south of Boston, likes being the more femme girl in the relationship, and is a great listener whose love languages are acts of service & quality time.  You are ideally masc or androgynous (anything but a cis straight man), not a total gym rat, and down to go out to a nice dinner. Her end goal is a monogamous relationship with marriage and kids.  In this episode, host Carolyn Bergier and Olivia talk about boundaries & dating in the friend group, cheating and the Vanderpump drama, and whether or not friends should date each other’s exes. You can find Olivia at Ginger’s in Brooklyn, or on instagram at @oliviatitusofficial as well as TikTok at @oliviatitusofficial. Check out all of our guests over on Instagram at @lovesapitch, and check out Carolyn’s personal page there at @tgicarolyn. She’s also over on TikTok at @tgicarolyn. This might be the last episode of this podcast. If you've been listening every week, thank you. It's been a fun project for me to start. You probably know, it's based on a live show that I do in Brooklyn, and I'm gonna continue to do that show, but I'm stepping away from podcasting for a little bit.  Thank You! Sagan Chen (he/they) is a Chinese-American artist based in New York City working in film, TV, and theatre, and he will NOT be moving to LA!!!! Gender fluid & poly, Sagan is a Gemini Sun, Aries Moon, and Sagittarius Rising. While Sagan currently has one partner, he is also looking for a fem that probably has dark hair and is a little bossy. You’re most likely an artist with some level of emotional intelligence and would be into going to the theatre. Host Carolyn Bergier and Sagan jump right into Clexacon and the community at a good conference, Sagan’s newly found bottom boy status, not wanting to be told what to do, and using Mario Kart as a metaphor for romance.  If you are good at making choices and thinking outside the box, you can find Sagan on Instagram at @sagan.chen, TikTok at @inspirasian51 or on Nintendo Switch.  See pics and clips of Sagan on Instagram at @lovesapitch. Phil Corin (they/them) is a nonbinary person of trans experience, leaning more masc. They say their friends would describe them as a kind, funny, and wise Capricorn with an open heart. At 54 years of age, Phil says they are always on a quest to learn more about themselves and how to evolve as a human. They also LOVE birds. Phil is looking for a fem presenting person with some basic kindness already living in NYC. Someone who is warm, open-hearted, self-aware, and loves live music & a good meal.  Host Carolyn Bergier and Phil dive into the rigidity of Capricorns, dating workshops and how to get over being adamantly anti-dating, the importance of someone's energy, and dating bisexual women.  If you’re also not into large crowds and want something more than a casual hookup, reach out to Phil on Instagram @Phil_aka_corinne. Jess Rothschild (she/her) identifies as a Leo, a lesbian, and a native New Yorker. Jess currently lives in Manhattan and is a great texter, loves gay summer life, has no food allergies, and has a career in design strategy.  You should slide into her DM’s if: you have a quiet power, are comfortable in your old skin, are somewhere around 35-45 years old (she’s 40), don’t have a big dog, and are ok with independence. You should also live in the New York City area. Jess catches up with good friend and host Carolyn Bergier about being burned out on the apps, celebrity crushes, and the pros and cons of being set in your ways. If you want to sit at the bar of a nice restaurant and get to know Jess, or you know who Guinevere Turner is, you can reach out to her on Instagram at @jessxnyc. Or get to know her more through her podcast Hot Takes & Deep Dives. For more pics & clips of our guests, follow along on Instagram at @lovesapitch. Valerie Complex (she/they/he/whatever) is a queer, empathetic, and easygoing person.  Currently non-monogamous, Valerie also describes herself as patient, a traveler, and says her love language is giving & receiving gifts. She grew up in the Bronx, still lives in New York City (now Harlem), and works as an editor for a major entertainment outlet. Valerie says it's important for her partner to: treat people well, like karaoke, also be non-monogamous, be at least 27 years old (she's almost 40), and you MUST cover your mouth when you cough or sneeze!! Host Carolyn Bergier and Valerie talk all about their fairly recent dives into non-monogamy in this episode, as well as how queer relationships are typically portrayed in TV & film, and the merits of PDA. If you like karaoke and won’t sing Don’t Stop Believin, hit up Valerie on Twitter at @ValerieComplex, Instagram at @Valerie_Complex2, on TikTok at @ComplexTravels, or send her an email at info@valeriecomplex.com. Lauren Flans (she/her) is a gay, ciswoman, and only child. She’s a great listener, volunteers at the LA LGBTQ Center, and says if she was looking for more labels, she might call herself a demiromantic. She’s still a very Covid-conscious cutie and her dog Pierro will always be number one, so you gotta be okay with that. Her ideal partner is: Rachel Weiss or the girl who plays Shelby in the Wilds. But seriously, you must be a fundamentally kind person, ok with Lauren’s independence and with moving a bit slow. Lauren is also open to women from where ever, not just LA. Lauren and Host Carolyn Bergier chat about doing research before a date, figuring out parent stuff, has therapy gone too far?, and the curse of being drawn to straight women.  If you’re okay with not having astrology as a part of your next relationship, check out Lauren’s Twitter at @laurenflans or find her on Instagram at @Lauren_flans. You can also get to know her more on her podcast Coming Out with Lauren and Nicole. Also, be sure to check out her latest pilot Butch Pal For The Straight Gal. Colette McIntyre (she/her) is a fat fem service top with an architectural triumph of an ass. This Pisces Sun, Aries Rising, and Aries Moon is working in advertising (but very anti-capitalist about it) and living in New York City. She loves planning an activity, is passionate about therapy, as well as the fact that people should be hornier. Her future partner must be into long text banter, not much younger than 32 years old, and would never make an Instagram account for your pet. Colette & Host Carolyn Bergier talk about going to the opera in this episode, some of the sex negativity we’re seeing coming from Gen Z these days, hookup parties with not much hooking up, and bringing back matchmaking. If you identify as a Velma or want to head to the Alamo Drafthouse, slide into Colette’s Instagram DM’s @yungbabayaga. You can also follow the show on Instagram at @lovesapitch, and check out Carolyn at @tgicarolyn. Carolyn is even on TikTok now at @tgicarolyn. Today we’re breaking new ground on the show and being on our first cis, gay man. Ben Fisher (he/him) has been single for about 7 years now. He s based in New York City and likes to believe that he is kind, funny, and looks like a gay early 2000’s Jimmy Fallon.  You are a kind, secret hunk with a sense of fun and adventure, a bit of a creative spirit, and can also be your own person. And you don’t necessarily have to live in NYC! Host Carolyn Bergier & Ben dive into his attachment style this episode, while also touching on meeting people organically vs on the apps, why architects are so hot, and limiting ourselves to top/bottom roles. If you’re not interested in ever going to Florida and want to get to know Ben, then find him on Twitter or Instagram with the same handle @benfishercomedy. Over on Instagram, you can also follow the show at @lovesapitch, and Carolyn at @tgicarolyn.  Subscribing to our Patreon really helps out our show if you have the means to do so. Micah Eames (he/him) is a trans-masc queer man looking for cuties to kiss and treat like a queen. This Brooklyn-based short king calls himself a hard Kinsey 3.5, and tends to skew more toward women romantically. A lifelong rock climber, Micah also enjoys karaoke duets and going out dancing. Micah's ideal partner is probably a woman (but he’s open to all genders & sexualities), someone who is organized, lives in Brooklyn, is a good tipper, and looking for something casual. Host Carolyn Bergier & Micah break down why so many queers are rock climbing these days, getting into standup, dating after transitioning, meeting people on Lex, and engage in some Terminal 5 slander.  If you’re ready to be the Gabriella to Micah’s Troy, or need a platonic belay buddy, then find him on Instagram at @MicahEames. Ruby Quinn (she/they) is a queer, polyamorous, pansexual Brooklyn baby who is more sweetie than Swiftie - and that’s okay! A burlesque dancer who also enjoys the outdoors, Ruby loves doing cheesy stuff with their partner and calls themself a hopeless romantic. You are: not jealous, poly, comfortable with a partner who does burlesque, already live in New York City, and understand that Ruby the performer and the person behind her are very different people. Host Carolyn Bergier & Ruby dive into jealousy and polyamory in this episode. They also get into the decision to have kids, being apprehensive about Geminis, and the nuances of dating different genders.  If you’ve got some poly experience and want to meet Ruby, reach out on Instagram at @rubyqweennnn. Jeena Bloom (she/her) is a Los Angeles based comedian & IT engineer who doesn't like people sleeping in her bed. She is trans, open to dating all sorts of folks, will be supportive of your endeavors, and describes herself as poly, but too lazy to date more than one person. Jeena’s future partner is: creative in ways that she is not, has some initiative in making plans, trusting enough to let her have some freedom, and is about 30-60 years old. In this episode, Jeena chats with host Carolyn Bergier about keeping independence and solitude in relationships, and how the pandemic helped her get used to being alone. We’ll also hear another bad review of Raya and get into Jeena’s past relationship regrets. If you think you can be with a younger Fran Lebowitz, reach out to Jeena via email  (jeenabloomdoescomedy@gmail.com) or send her a DM on Instagram (@jeenabloom). Brooklyn born & bred, Sheria is also a bottom (not lazy), a Pisces, and recovering from an attraction to fuckbois. You are: into your own passions, 30+ years old, charming, not a comedian, and ready to support and treat your partner right. Sheria joins Carolyn to talk about life & dating at boarding school in Massachusetts, figuring out your own wants & needs, the possibilities of Sheria being a third, and play a round of “what’s your mental illness?” If you have a fat ass and you're not a sociopath, shoot Sheria a DM on instagram at @SheriaMattisComedy, on Twitter at @Sheriadidthat and TikTok at @Sheriadoesthat. Ideally, you are driven, passionate, not quick to conflict, and somewhere between 25-39 years old. You also like massages, Celine Dion, and are looking for something more serious in a partner. In this episode, Carolyn and Karina talk red flags, The L Word astrological universe, Raya, Sims expansion packs, and making the first “move.” Think you can start a Sim life or real life with Karina?
