In this episode, we look at the final days of the Review in Rochester and its move to Battle Creek - the new HQ of the Sabbatarian Adventist movement.
In this episode, we check in with James and Ellen in Battle Creek, talk about J.N. Loughborough's great tent-capade across New York, and see what happens when the brightest young preachers in the movement quit and move to Iowa.
In this episode, the Review gets an upgrade into the industrial age. We also sort through the problems the Waukon believers had with James and Ellen White and their *eventual* solution. And, hey, a passing reference to Uriah Smith getting married. Congrats, man!
In this episode, we talk about the Great Controversy vision and how the eventual book was revised, revised, revised, and revised until it becomes the version Adventists value above anything else she wrote...and then try to pawn off on people for free.
In this episode, we cover one of the biggest steps in the organization of the movement into a denomination: Systematic Benevolence. This project consumed much of 1859, and the result was an affordable, simple plan to pay the preachers and proclaimers of the message.
In this episode, we begin a trilogy of episodes covering the organization of the movement into a proper Christian denomination. First up, we look at how the name "Seventh-day Adventist" was chosen in 1860.
In this episode (the second of our trilogy covering the organization of the Adventist church), we get to witness the first steps of church organization in the early days of the Civil War, culminating in the formation of the first state conference of churches.
In this episode (the final of our trilogy covering the organization of the Adventist church), we talk about the final steps that led to the formation of the general conference, and it's first president, who just happens to be the Adventist church's first "badventist." Along the way, we also eavesdrop on the infant church's idea on whether belief in Ellen White as a prophet should be required to anyone who wants to become an Adventist. The answer may surprise you!
In this episode, we learn about how the new Seventh-day Adventist Church coped with the American Civil War.
In this episode, we check out the beginning of the Adventist Church's commitment to health - in the context of the atrocious standards of mid-19th century American medical practice.

Love this podcast! This is a must to listen to for Adventists brings so much perspective and pride to who we are as a people. I knew nothing really of Adventist history and your rendition is so easy to listen to for the lay person. Also I love the dry humor 😂.
