Multitasking is what it's all about in this month's podcast - love it or hate it, we decided to record a chat while Tracy was colouring Trish's hair - the result is insightful, yet unfortunately there's a bit of rattly noise from the foils and the plastic gloves Tracy is using. If you can hear past the sounds of hairdressing, you will get a glimpse into what it's like day to day working as a mortician and the types of things you need to do, to get the job done and prepare the deceased for their family to have a final goodbye. We've been lax on the podcast recording in the past few months - it's always a challenge for us to get together to do these recordings, so we thought multitasking was the best option, plus who doesn't want to feel like a fly on the wall when there's a bit of girl chat going down?If you want a visual, this episode has been published on our YouTube channel.Til next time, (hopefully next month)stay safe,T&T xxWatch us:YouTube: (48) Are you dying to know? - YouTubeContact us:insta: @are_you_dying_to_knowemail: areyoudyingtoknow@gmail.comwebsite: www.aydtk.comWARNING:This video contains graphic material that may disturb some viewers. Hi folks, It's been a while since we have produced a pod, but we are back this week with a fascinating interview with Zenith Virago, who has advocated, informed and educated people on the possibilities for wholistic death care for more than 30 years.Zenith founded the Natural Death Care Centre in northern NSW, Australia and compiled a series on in-person and online trainings for Deathwalkers - those who want to be better equipped to deal with death - their own, or the death of those around them.We will post some videos featuring our discussion with Zenith on our YouTube channel, so if you enjoy this pod, be sure to head there for more.We hope you enjoy,T & T xSome helpful links:Natural Death Care Centre – Celebrating Death & LifeZenith Virago, Deathwalker TrainingZenith Virago: Disrupting Death. Welcome to our very first podcast. where we chat to Tim, who runs a crematorium to ask all the nitty gritty questions you may have about this unspoken of part of the funeral industry, like: How hot do cremators need to be? Does it take longer to cremate a man or a woman? and the age-old question, do bodies sit up during the cremation process? It's a candid discussion giving you all-areas access to behind the scenes at a crematorium, so sit back, relax and let's dispel some of the fear and myths you may have around death- the final frontier. We hope this podcast isn't too 'hot' to handle but please be advised, it is intended for mature audiences and parental discretion is advised. We've done a full video series on Tim and his extensive knowledge of cremation which you can find that on our youtube channel at (48) Inside the crematorium - YouTubeTil next time, take careT&T xxWatch us:YouTube: (48) Are you dying to know? - YouTubeContact us:insta: @are_you_dying_to_knowemail: areyoudyingtoknow@gmail.comwebsite: www.aydtk.comWARNING:This video contains graphic material that may disturb some viewers. January 2024

Welcome to our January podcast! We have a chat about some fairly heavy concepts in this episode so please we warned - graphic content ahead. But we'll ease you into it with some talk about different cultures and religions and the way they approach death, as well as the role of a general mortician/embalmer in cultural preparations. But deathcare is like that - most of the time it's caring for old people who have lived many, many decades on this planet, but unfortunately younger people die too and sometimes in horrific accidents - it's our job to care for them all with dignity and respect. These deaths are often harder for us in the industry mentally and, as you will hear in this episode, sometimes physically as well.We hope you learn something from our chat - if nothing else we just want people to be able to access information about what happens behind the mortuary doors to inform and empower them to make the best decisions possible with less fear when the time comes - We know our podcast is not for everyone, but death will touch us all.If you have any questions about this pod or something else, contact us on email or insta and oh, yeah - apologies for the dodgy sound at the very end of this recording - we lost the end of the master file and patched the last minutes together using back up audio.Til next time, stay safe,T&TWatch us:YouTube: (48) Are you dying to know? - YouTubeContact us:insta: @are_you_dying_to_knowemail: areyoudyingtoknow@gmail.comwebsite: www.aydtk.comWARNING:This video contains graphic material that may disturb some viewers. We had a mishap with the audio files from the podcast that was supposed to be released last week so we've pulled together a quicky for your listening pleasure, answering a question to the YouTube channel about body dealers in Australia. We hope you enjoy.Til next time, take care,T&T xWatch us:YouTube: (48) Are you dying to know? - YouTubeContact us:insta: @are_you_dying_to_knowemail: areyoudyingtoknow@gmail.comwebsite: www.aydtk.comWARNING:This video contains graphic material that may disturb some viewers. In this episode mortician Tracy talks us through the stages of decomposition that begins the minute we die.  It's confronting, sometimes gory and to some, may sound a little bit gruesome, but it's a natural process and one most of us don't know much about.Stay tuned to the end when Tracy 'lightens the mood' with a beautiful little story of reuniting a mother and baby across the decades, which left some of us reaching for the tissues. Thanks for joining us, we can't believe we are already up to podcast #4!Til next time, stay safe.T&T xxWatch us:YouTube: (48) Are you dying to know? - YouTubeContact us:insta: @are_you_dying_to_knowemail: areyoudyingtoknow@gmail.comwebsite: www.aydtk.comWARNING:This video contains graphic material that may disturb some viewers. In this episode we talk about Tracy's work to quell the smell of decomposition so that a family can have its final goodbye regardless of the state of the body. And even though the funeral business is a 24/7 operation, who would have thought there'd be busy times and predictable quiet times? No special guest in today's podcast, but for those of us not in the know, just hearing Tracy talk about her work is interesting enough. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us.Til next time, stay safe,T&T xxWatch us:YouTube: (48) Are you dying to know? - YouTubeContact us:insta: @are_you_dying_to_knowemail: areyoudyingtoknow@gmail.comwebsite: www.aydtk.comWARNING:This video contains graphic material that may disturb some viewers. Easing the end of life

In this episode we speak with Jancine, an end of life doula who works with families and those reaching their end of life, offering helpful and supportive services, plenty of information and enabling space for sometimes difficult conversations to occur. The role of an end of life doula has a wide scope from advocating for family wishes with funeral homes to working alongside palliative care to allow for the end of life experience to be personal and tailored to the family, the dying person and the circumstances. Thanks Jancine for taking the time to speak with us. We really appreciate how you have openely shared your insights with us and our listeners. Watch us:YouTube: (48) Are you dying to know? - YouTubeContact us:insta: @are_you_dying_to_knowemail: areyoudyingtoknow@gmail.comwebsite: www.aydtk.comWARNING:This video contains graphic material that may disturb some viewers.
