Samantha Sloyan is a true powerhouse in the industry. Her magnetic presence and unparalleled ability to intertwine depth and authenticity set her apart from the rest. There have been at least 5 different occasions when we’ve had listeners/viewers reach out to request that we get Sam on the show. Well, here we go!!!!!! Thank God we did. You may recognize her from her compelling performances in shows like "Criminal Minds," "Scandal," and "The Morning Show." In 2016, her role in the film “Hush," directed by the visionary Mike Flanagan, marked the start of a collaboration that would span over the next seven years. From her chilling work on "The Haunting of Hill House" to her mesmerizing performance on "Midnight Mass" and "The Midnight Club," (*do you need to reference both of these?), she has dazzled us with her talent and terrified us with her pathos.. We love this woman and were blessed she joined us.
Today’s guest is a seasoned actor from Baton Rouge Louisiana. From a young age, he was drawn to the magic of storytelling, sparked by a memorable trip to the theatre when his father who took him to see the great Steve McQueen in Bullitt.    Back then, he was more inspired to be a stuntman than an actor... Still… after moving to Los Angeles In the 80s, he guest starred and reoccurred on some iconic shows that we still watch today… most notably, “Murder, She Wrote" and "Columbo."  He genuinely spent decades being a guy we love to watch. Over the years… while putting together an admirable and coveted career… he always knew that the perfect role would find him. it was his transformative experience shooting the pilot for "Westworld" in 2012 that truly changed the game for him. The perfect role had found him, and the character’s name of Peter Abernathy  Our friend is not just an actor, but a storyteller … … by way of Producing some great indie projects with his company Ransack Films. He brings depth and nuance to every character he plays… And in the last decade or so, he had compelled us with great roles on shows show like Westworld, True Blood, and The Peripheral.  Now he’s continuing that decades long tradition of being excellent on the Night Agent… Please welcome to the show… One of our favorite actors… Louis Herthum
Today's guest is the one and only John Ashton, a face synonymous with the greatest fucking movies of the 80s. Beyond that, he is also a dear and close friend of mine. John Ashton's performances in iconic films such as Beverly Hills Cop, Midnight Run, and Little Big League have been nothing short of spectacular. The list of his remarkable roles goes on and on. I had the opportunity of meeting John when we starred together in the movie Uncle John, directed by the great Stephen Piet and expertly produced by the legendary Erik Crary. Uncle John remains one of my most favorite films that I have ever had the privilege of working on. John was simply phenomenal. Notably, he has just wrapped up working on the latest installment of Beverly Hills Cop, soon to be released on Netflix. Our conversation during this interview had us laughing so hard that it stands as one of my most fon poscast We've done.
This week, we are thrilled to talk to an exceptional actor, and true Tinseltown original, Spencer Garrett. As we prepared to speak with Spencer, I found myself inexplicably captivated by his presence. It dawned on me that he evokes a long-forgotten romantic vision of Hollywood that I was searching for 24 years ago. It's akin to the ambiance of Jack Nicholson at Dantanas or Bukowski at the drawing room. During our conversation, we delve into the contrast between this romanticized concept of Hollywood and the realities of our own experiences. Born into Hollywood, in a way, Spencer's mother was none other than Kathleen Nolan, a prominent actress and the first female president of the Screen Actors Guild. His father, Richard Heckencamp, was an esteemed talent agent. Though his upbringing allowed him unique insight into the enchantment of our industry, Spencer still had to prove himself like anyone else. What stands out to me about him is his undeniable passion for the work. It is a special kind of joy that has sustained him for nearly four decades in the business. The list of his credits is far too extensive to cover in its entirety, but he is particularly recognized for his roles in notable films such as Air Force One (1997), 21 (2008), Public Enemies (2009), All the Way (2016), and The Front Runner (2018), among many other remarkable projects. If one were to consider a career in chapters, I would confidently assert that this latest chapter has been one of his most captivating. He stole the spotlight from the likes of DiCaprio and Pitt in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, and he is now reprising his role as the legendary Chick Hearn in the upcoming second season of HBO's Winning Time. We sincerely hope that you all thoroughly enjoy this episode. In many ways, I believe that this is the episode where we truly grasp the genuine ethos of our show. #spencergarrett #onceuponatimeinhollywood #winningtimehbo #winningtime #hbo #meisner #leonardodicaprio #bradpitt #quentintarantino #oldhollywood #actor #characteractor #chickhearn #lovethatguypodcast #brendanreynolds #ronniegeneblevins #actor #actorinterview #interview #film #filmmaking
We're trilled to have Eric Lange on the show today. Eric is the most underrated actor working today. Eric played the recurring roles of Stuart Radzinsky on the ABC series Lost (2009) and Erwin Sikowitz in the Nickelodeon series Victorious (2010–13), and had his mainstream breakthrough for playing David Tate/Kenneth Hasting on the FX series The Bridge (2013). Ray is a seasoned character actor with over four decades of experience in film, television, and stage productions. The discussion starts with Ray's early years, living in Queens, and starting a theater company in the 70s. Ray talks about the need for actors to find passions outside of the industry in order to sustain a career of enthusiasm.   We then shift to Ray's most significant role to date, which was on the critically acclaimed series- The Sopranos. Ray played the character of Carmine Lupertazzi Jr. Little Carmine is a capo and the son of Carmine Lupertazzi, the leader of one of New York's Five Families. Little Carmine is introduced in 2002 when Tony Soprano pays a visit to him in Miami.  Tony sought his counsel in regard to settling a dispute with Carmine Sr.  We discuss how The Sopranos completely revolutionized television by capturing the gritty and authentic nuances of life in the mob and creating rich, dynamic characters that viewers can relate to. Ray shares the same qualities as all of our great guests. No pretense. Just a genuine love which sustains his talent.

You may have first seen her in the cult classic Starry Eyes, where she blew everyone away with her lead role. Since then, she's gone on to collaborate with renowned director Mike Flanagan on projects like Doctor Sleep, The Haunting of Bly Manor, and Midnight Mass, where she brought her wholy original style and pathos to each character she played. Alex is currently starring opposite Russell Crowe in the box office hit The Pope's Exorcist. She's quickly becoming one of the most in-demand actors, and we're so happy to have her on the show today. Today we sit down with the super talented, Nick Stahl. I was so excited for this show. Nick did not disappoint. Nick talks us all about coming up the industry. Reconciling a rocket ship launch to stardom while trying to find his identity as a young boy.  He talks about his work in the Terminator, Bully, Man Without a face, and many others. Nick talks about how moving to austin was the best thing he's done. It's given him a greater appreciation for the work.. He's one of our favorites. I hope you guys like the interview as much as we liked hangin with him.
Chris Bauer has a decades old tradition of acting in cool projects.  Not just quality projects.. but projects that tend to be perceived as the coolest shows on TV.  Chris has portrayed incredible scene stealing characters on HBO's The Wire, True Blood, and The Deuce, and most recently on Starz professional wrestling drama, Heels.       In this episode, Chris goes deep on process.. or maybe it's anti-process.  He talks about using his craft to channel an infinite number of creative possibilities both in life and art.  Chris frames it as being open to the "unconcious messengers of the muses.”  We talk about navigating the ego and how necessary it is for him to constantly be aware of how ego is not akin to talent.   There’s really no point in trying to explain Chris’ acting genius, you just need to listen to him break it down for yourself.  We promise you, this episode will expand your perspective on the artistic process, and you'll get a little glimpse into the mind of the great Chris Bauer.
The legendary C. Thomas Howell has captivated audiences for over five decades. I remember being 12 years old and copying his character’s lines and actions, staring into a mirror. Movies were the key that unlocked my imagination and transported me into their limitless worlds. From defending against Russian invaders in Red Dawn—where my friends and I found inspiration for our "Wolverines" crew—to facing off against the Soc's in Coppola's The Outsiders, Howell's characters consistently served as my gateway to these incredible cinematic universes. With an impressive portfolio of over 200 films and TV shows, Tommy embodies the cowboy ethos and a relentless work ethic that has seen him tackle everything from leading roles in studio films to fending off aliens in lower-budget sci-fi flicks. In today's interview, Tommy reveals that it's often the latter where he learned the most. Navigating stardom while discovering his identity, Tommy has a treasure trove of behind-the-scenes stories and Hollywood pop culture experiences to share. From auditioning for E.T. and working with Coppola, to his time on Southland and Criminal Minds, he candidly discusses the ups and downs of being a journeyman actor with grace and humor. This fall, Tommy takes on his favorite role yet in the Netflix show "Obliterated." We also talk about his journey into being a singer/songwriter and his new album American Storyteller. Let's call a spade a spade! Theo Rossi is rapidly becomming one of the most interesting actors in Hollywood. Theo first rose to fame after playing "Juice" on seven seasons of Sons of Anarchy. He then did fantastic work on two seasons of Luke Cage. In the past few years he's separated himself from the pack. He blew us away as "Behind the Scene Gene" in Netflix's True Story. He mesmerized us all with his work as "Yousep" in Emily The Criminal.   He can next be seen opposite Colin Farrell in HBO's "Pengiun" as well as Netflix's  next best movie "Carry On" opposite Jason Bateman. In this episode you'll see why anybody who knows Theo considers him a source of inspiration. i had the good fortune of working with Theo on "Squeeler". Brenden and I are excited for you all to here this episode.
Pat Healy can next be seen in the much anticipated Martin Scorsese film "Killers of the Flower Moon". He's also currently a series regular on ABC's Station 19. If you caught the last season of "Better Call Saul" then you likely fell in love with him as Saul's partner in crime, Paul. If you've ever felt like your hard work was not paying off, or that you were seconds away from quitting, this episode is for you.    A few years back, after over 20 years as a working actor, Pat walked away from show business. Proving that it's always darkest before the dawn, Pat then went on the run of his life.   This is such an inspiring episode. Pat treated this conversation like he treats his work.. without ego or pretense. simply with love and vulnerability.   Link in bio
