In their daytime lives, Brent works as an Account Manager for a regional trucking company and Shannon is a Development Director for an Oklahoma-based nonprofit. In their personal life, they have lived out their mission of love and invitation by being parents, grandparents, foster parents, adoptive parents, stand-in parents, mentors, friends, and spiritual leaders. I did not know Andrea before this interview. One of the greatest gifts of this journey was meeting Andrea.  Before celebrating her 16th birthday, Lewis had already acted alongside Hollywood heavyweights such as Diahann Carroll and Loretta Devine and worked with Dr. Maya Angelou and Robert Townsend. After wrapping up on the Disney movie Cadet Kelly alongside Hilary Duff, Lewis soon spent 6 seasons on the hit show Degrassi: The Next Generation and became known around the world as "Hazel" as millions of North Americans tuned in each week to watch Andrea in the Award-winning drama. After Degrassi, she went on to other leading roles on Showtime, Nickelodeon and BET. Then taking her career to another level, Lewis started Jungle Wild Productions, where she wrote, starred in and produced the award winning hit web series’ “Black Actress” . Through her production company, Lewis has gone on to create multiple Web Series, short films, television pilots and digital content. You can keep up with her other productions at youtube.com/AndreaLewisChannel.
THIS IS A STORY THAT WILL ABSOLUTELY OPEN YOUR EYES AND EMPOWER.  It certainly did for me.  Alex Budin, was born in Crimea, Ukraine. Not only was Alex oppressed by different political regimes growing up, but he was a prisoner of his own body.. Alex landed in the United States of America seeking an asylum to avoid being persecuted in his homeland for being gay and trans. The ultimate goal was to find a safe space to create and live his life as his authentic self which has brought him to Los Angeles where he is currently pursuing his acting career. As a transgender he has had to play a “role” for the most part of his life to fit into society. These life changing experiences have not only allowed him to grow as an individual but gives him the opportunity to tap into the deep emotional pockets in his creative endeavors whether it’s acting, photography or being an inspiration for others.

I had the pleasure of working with Ciro on the Oscar-Nominated film EMBRACE OF THE SERPENT back in 2014. The film exploded onto the international scene back in 2016 -2017. Winning the  CANNES film Festival Directors Fortnight, the SLOAN Award at SUNDANCE IFF, and finally reaching the Academy Awards for best foreign-language film.  Embrace of the Serpent is the story of a relationship between Karamakate, an Amazonian shaman (Antonio Bolivar/ Nilbio Torres), and two scientists Richard Evans Schultes (Brionne Davis, and Jan Bijvoet) who work together over the course of forty years to search the Amazon for a sacred healing plant. The Human spirit is tried and tested as cultures collide then attempt to become whole again.  One of Karamakate's commands to Evan was " It is your dream, you must follow it." And at that moment the virtuous path would be chosen. Letting ourselves free from the burden of material things, metaphorical baggage, and restraints of linear perspective becomes the message.  We dive deeper into this philosophy in this Episode.
