Well it's been a minute since the two of us sat down and had a chat. A lot has happened and changed in both our world's and like everyone, we're trying navigate the constant curve balls life is throwing in our direction. But that's also the fun of it. In this episode, Adam shares the story about that one time a spontaneous trip to New York went from 6 days to 6 weeks and how when fate and opportunity came knocking, he took a leap of faith. We cover a lot in this episode when it comes to ways of putting yourself out there and making friends in new places. Have a listen and we hope you enjoy!
This week's guest is one of our favourite humans, most know her as Jenna or by her Instagram @loveludie. Jenna has some of the most interesting (and hilarious) stories about how curiosity and imagination led her to be a shop owner, a candle maker, and finally, a renowned artist working and collaborating with some pretty major brands.  But although the highs may seem all well and good, it hasn't come without some extreme lows. We explore some of these in this episode as well as how to move through the good, the bad and the ugly when life keeps throwing you curveballs.
Our next guest is someone whose energy is so infectious you can't help but smile around her. Pernilla's love of creative expression began when she was a young girl who loved dancing. Her career as a professional dancer brought her to LA where she began to fall in love with overall health and wellness. This is what led her to starting a YouTube channel and why she is on a mission to help people create a happier life. How does she do that? By creating content that focuses on health and wellness across her social platforms ranging from YouTube, TikTok and Instagram. As well as her podcast, Challenge Your Norm. In this episode, we discuss everything from creating real, authentic and engaging content for an audience that is yours and how to find your voice in a saturated market. Pernilla shares all her tips on how to grow any platform your on in a way that doesn't involve selling your soul in the process.
In today's episode, Adam speaks to Thatcher who is a guy that's not afraid to take a risk and a chance on himself. 11 years ago he bought a bar and turned it into a thriving business in New York City.  This episode explores what happens when you combine a dream with the desire and intention to just go for it. After all, no risk, no story right?
Today’s episode guest is a guy who went from nature photographer to podcaster and philosophy educator. He managed to combine his passion for landscape photography and learning of stoic teachings to amass a following of over 180k. How’d he do it? Well, listen to find out. See you back here same place, same time next week.  FOLLOW US ON INSTAGRAM - @thatonetime_podcastFOLLOW US ON TWITTER - https://bit.ly/3D1FCsgSUBSCRIBE TO OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL - https://bit.ly/3CKt889
This week's guest is a woman who has a lifetime of stories to share. Prasiddha is a Dharmic Healer and coach who teaches Eastern Philosophy through the spiritual healing sciences of Yoga, Ayurveda & Tantra. After she spent two years in an Ashram in India she saw it as the experience that changed her life forever. It awoke something within her that has now enabled her to empower other people to release what is no longer serving them and become who it is they have always been. This chat between Adam and Prasiddha is an insightful look into mindfulness, ayurvedic practices, and spirituality.
This week's guest is nonother than Max Lowenstein or as the Instagram world knows, him @healingmotions. Max who is a registered dietician nutritionist with a master's degree in clinical nutrition spends most of his time researching and learning about how to live a well-nourished purposeful life. As well as being a registered dietician nutritionist he’s also a published author and breath-work guide. Breathwork has become something he is passionate about teaching and sharing with the world. And if all that wasn’t enough he is also the co-founder of an online yoga platform called How To Practice Yoga and a medicinal mushroom supplements brand called Nutro Mushroom. Max is a wealth of knowledge across many different areas of life and we're excited to share this episode with you guys! On this week's episode we have 2021's Miss Universe Australia - Daria Varlamova. Daria shares with us her experience being crowned as Miss Universe Australia but also what it took to actually get there (it wasn't as easy as some might think) We explore her upbringing in Soviet Russia and what it was like coming to Australia at a young age and always feeling like an outcast or somewhat 'different'. This episode is filled with loads of stories and ways in which she herself overcame the feeling of rejection after multiple attempts at entering MUA as well as what she hopes to do with her title in the future.  We loved having her on the show and having her share her experiences and stories.  See you back here same place, same time next week. On to bigger and better things...
In this episode, Adam sits down with comedian and broadcaster John Fugelsang for a wide-ranging, no-holds-barred chat about how Christianity has been shaped, sold, and sometimes weaponised in modern politics. John shares the wild true story of his parents, a former nun and a former Franciscan brother, then uses that lived-in faith background to pick apart the gap between what Jesus actually taught and what today’s loudest political Christians often fight for. They dig into hot-button issues like the death penalty, abortion, and sexuality, talk through John’s past TV debates with figures like Jerry Falwell Sr. and David Duke, and land on John’s core challenge: if someone claims Jesus, their politics should match Jesus. The conversation ties back to John’s book Separation of Church and Hate, and ends with a punchy mix of gratitude, comedy, and a call to action.🔗 FOLLOW JOHN:WebsiteInstagramX📚 Order John Fugelsang’s book:Separation of Church and Hate (Simon & Schuster)🕒 TIMESTAMPS:00:00 - The love story of John’s parents10:23 - Confronting televangelists and the role of Christian nationalism13:48 - Biblical perspectives on homophobia and LGBTQ+ issues16:16 - Debating white supremacists and the importance of non-violence19:09 - Jesus’s teachings versus Paul’s writings and their impact23:23 - Christianity and its ties to slavery and white supremacy in America27:12 - The Roman influence on Jesus’s death and early Christianity33:48 - Modern Christian hypocrisy around issues like abortion and the death penalty37:00 - What would Jesus do today?40:48 - The contrast between the original teachings of Jesus and institutionalised religion44:43 - The dangers of religious fundamentalism across all faithsGET IN TOUCH:Our website: thatonetimepodcast.comAdvertise with us:partnerships@thatonetimepodcast.comBook us:bookings@thatonetimepodcast.comJOIN OUR COMMUNITY:🎥 YouTube🗣️ Spotify🍎 Apple Podcasts📸 Instagram🐦 X🎵 TikTok💭 ABOUT US:Each week I’ll be deep diving into the lives, habits and lessons of some of the most successful and interesting people in the world, teasing out their curiosities and aiming to provide actionable insights for your day-to-day life. The podcast focusses on the pillars of health, wealth, and wisdom, and each episode is an in-depth, vulnerable conversation with a unique individual taking on the world in their unique way.Expect episodes on business, marketing, health, spirituality, biohacking, mindset, content creation and more!Hosted by Adam Metwally: InstagramProduced by Joe Fowler: Instagram🎶 Music:By HNNYListen

San Holo (Sander van Dijck) sits down with Adam Metwally to unpack the real cost of being “the light of the party” while still feeling like an outcast. He opens up about why sadness can be beautiful, how perfectionism nearly broke him (including a breakdown over kick drums before a major show), and the split between loving music and surviving the music industry. They dive into why formulas kill art, how major labels push artists to repeat the same hit, what it took to buy his way out to stay authentic, and why connection, not fame, is what keeps a career alive.🔗 FOLLOW SAN HOLO:https://sanholo.com/https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCIwv90GceyJdsl9-9YYYaLQhttps://open.spotify.com/artist/0jNDKefhfSbLR9sFvcPLHohttps://www.instagram.com/sanholobeats/https://www.tiktok.com/@sanholobeats🕒 TIMESTAMPS:00:00 The Journey of San Holo: From Outcast to Superstar05:06 Music And Emotion07:55 Finding Your Unique Sound12:48 The Role of Sadness in Creativity20:34 Navigating the Music Industry25:52 The Percentage Theory: Understanding Emotional States36:50 Loneliness in the Spotlight39:23 The Pursuit of Perfection in Art41:06 Finding Peace in Music and Industry01:01:59 Creating Your Own TruthGET IN TOUCH:🌍 Website: www.thatonetimepodcast.com🌍 Advertise: partnerships@thatonetimepodcast.com🌍 Book us: bookings@thatonetimepodcast.comJOIN OUR COMMUNITY:🎥 YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCP62dkT4JUozGGlk7zT1afQ🗣️ Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/2CDS3KOgOSwmKCvK6BWS8B🍎 Apple: https://podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/that-one-time-with-adam-metwally/id1657317674📸 Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thatonetime_podcast/🐦 X / Twitter: https://x.com/itsadammetwally🎵 TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@thatonetime_podcast💭 ABOUT US:Each week I’ll be deep diving into the lives, habits and lessons of some of the most successful and interesting people in the world, teasing out their curiosities and aiming to provide actionable insights for your day-to-day life. The podcast focuses on the pillars of health, wealth, and wisdom, and each episode is an in-depth, vulnerable conversation with a unique individual taking on the world in their own way.Expect episodes on business, marketing, health, spirituality, biohacking, mindset, content creation and more!Hosted by Adam Metwally — https://www.instagram.com/meetwally/Produced by Joe Fowler — https://www.instagram.com/joeefowler/🎶 Music:By HNNYhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3r3Paw23_eQ
