Amazing episode. I read this book a couple of years ago and it offered me a fresh perspective on the decline of Irish in the eighteenth and nineteenth century. Another great book which touches on this question is "the broken harp" by Tomás Mac Síomóin. Unfortunately, Tomás passed away last year - he would have been a great guest. Loving the podcast so far. Go n-éiri leat agus beir bua!
