Najee Seabrooks was a local anti-violence hero in Paterson, New Jersey, serving his community with the Paterson Healing Collective until he was shot by the police. How does one survive the transition of a loved one due to gun violence? How is that pain transformed into purpose to serve others, to ensure that not another child is lost to gun violence? We talk with Oresa Napper-Williams of Not Another Child Inc. on her journey to stop gun violence and bring healing to grieving families. In this episode, I speak with Ramik Williams, the co-executive director of the KAVI, Inc. (Kings Against Violence Initiative). Ramik talks about the role of youth development and legislative advocacy to holistically address community-level violence. He informs us about the "KAVI Way," and shares his views on the importance of public policy. Ramik Williams is the Co-Executive Director of KAVI.  Ramik is an expert, advocate, and champion in K-16 Education and Workforce & Youth Development. Ramik has dedicated his career to eliminating racial disparities in economic, educational, and health systems for communities of color. He has grounded this work by leading organizations, programs, and initiatives designed to increase the activation of and investment in oppressed communities. Prior to joining KAVI, he held executive and senior positions in philanthropic, research institutions, and service organizations.
