SPOILER WARNING! Episode 3 of The Chosen Season 4 includes what may be the most controversial scene of the show so far (and that's saying a lot). After a public dispute with the Pharisees draws the attention of Quintus and the Romans, Jesus and his disciples flee - but not before Ramah, one of the female disciples, is stabbed by Quintus. But what makes this moment especially controversial is Jesus' decision to not heal her - despite Thomas' desperate pleas. Such a moment is not recorded in Scripture and has generated a lot of backlash against the show. Has The Chosen taken its creative liberties too far? Would Jesus have withheld healing during his earthly ministry? Is this moment an instance of fridging? This episode (generated with the help of AI) summarizes a blogpost I wrote earlier this summer that tackles many of these questions. Support My Work
In a recent post on The Bible Artist Blog, I explored the challenges of adapting Jesus' prophecy about the destruction of the Temple and the coming of the Son of Man in The Chosen Season 5. This experimental podcast episode adapts that material with the help of two AI guest hosts, who summarize my analysis of the matters involved, including: Dallas Jenkins' connection to Left Behind, the different approaches to interpreting Matthew 24, and different ways The Chosen could adapt the material.Support My WorkThe Chosen Season 5 Episode 1 Review and AnalysisThe Chosen Season 5 Episode 2 Review and AnalysisThe Chosen Season 5 Episode 3 ReviewThe Chosen Season 5 Episode 4 ReviewThe Chosen Season 5 Episode 5 ReviewThe Chosen Season 5 Episode 1 Bible Study & Discussion Guide
