Welcome to LUCHA UNDERGROUND! The year is 2014, and a brand new wrestling company has popped up on a network that hasn't had wrestling before, the El Rey Network. Lucha Underground gave us a different look at how television wrestling can be produced, and this first episodes gives us an early idea on the direction they were looking to go. Dario Cueto is the man in charge, a promoter that has opened up his 'Temple' to luchadores from all around the world. In this first episode, he has $100,000 on the line to the best fighter of the night. Little did we know, he has other plans in mind for that money. The main event of this debut episode is Prince Puma (Ricochet) taking on Johnny Mundo (John Morrison). Also on this show, Chavo Guerrero Jr. takes on Blue Demon Jr., and we get our first look at some Lucha Underground mainstays like Son of Havoc & Sexy Star. The biggest WrestleMania of all time (there have only been two so far) is upon is, and with no matches announced, and a venue that is only just getting announced on this show, the WWF is going to have to pull out all the stops to have record-breaking attendance numbers for this one. Thankfully for them, life as a pro wrestling fan is a lot different in 1987, and a match like Hulk Hogan vs Andre The Giant is enough to sell NINETY-THOUSAND TICKETS (or maybe not, dude). The date is February 7, 1987 for this episode of WWF Superstars of Wrestling. Roddy Piper (along with Jesse Ventura) invite Hulk Hogan & Andre The Giant on to Piper's Pit to talk about their issues, but Bobby Heenan surprises everyone by showing up as well! 1The June 27th, 2002 episode of WWE SmackDown! is a historic one, as it features the WWE debut of John Cena! Kurt Angle is introduced by Mr. McMahon. Kurt still has his fake hair from losing it in a match against Edge! He takes it off and says he is tired of being made fun of. He then challenges any wrestler in the back that he has never faced to a match right now! A new kid named John Cena comes out, tells Kurt that he has “Ruthless Aggression,” and slaps Angle in the face! The match is now kicked off. Cena takes it to Angle and almost gets the win multiple times. However, Angle forces Cena’s shoulders down and gets the win! After the match, John Cena earns the respect of The Undertaker backstage. Speaking of The Undertaker, he comes out to the ring and runs down The Rock on the microphone, saying he is going to make him pay when he returns to the WWE. Kurt Angle then comes out and challenges Taker to a match next week on WWE SmackDown! for the WWE Championship! He ends up putting The Undertaker in the ankle lock for a few seconds just to show that he can. Also, Mark Henry and Lance Storm have a match, Test takes on Rikishi, Reverend D-Von and Batista team against Faarooq and Randy Orton, and The Divas give us a sneak peek at the upcoming “Divas Undressed” special! It’s ECW Hardcore TV from October 31st, 1995, featuring a huge main event with The Sandman defending the ECW World Heavyweight Championship against Mikey Whipwreck! This is a ladder match but with different rules. The winner must defeat their opponent by pinfall or submission. Before we get to that match, Mikey Whipwreck has one last “Hoodie Training Session” with The Public Enemy. They meet in complete darkness at Central Park in New York. While Rocco Rock leaves to get training items, Johnny Grunge has a training session of his own for Mikey. He makes Mikey run up a ladder and grab beers that are hanging in a tree. By the end of it Mikey is blown up, Johnny Grunge is wasted and Rocco Rock is upset! This is a classic ECW segment. Speaking of classics, Steve Austin is here for “Beulah’s Box!” He is dressed up like Eric Bischoff for “Monday NyQuil!” He does his best impression of Eric and vents all his frustrations with WCW, including getting fired over the phone! Steve Austin was pissed off and wanted everyone to know about it! Austin also gets involved in the main event ladder match. Plus, The Pitbulls dominate Don E. It’s November 25th, 2010 on Thanksgiving for this special episode of TNA Wrestling iMPACT! There is no Turkey Bowl, but we do get a Thanksgiving Party with Immortal. Matt Morgan is the current #1 contender for Jeff Hardy’s TNA World Championship. Because he beat Ric Flair, he gets to choose a special guest referee for their match at the Final Resolution PPV. We don’t find out who his referee is going to be tonight, but he does get challenged to an 8 man elimination tag team match by Immortal for the main event. He teams with Douglas Williams, and they need to find 2 more partners. They search for partners throughout the night and end up convincing Samoa Joe and The Pope D'Angelo Dinero to be on their team. The match goes their way, until Joe and The Pope battle to the back, leaving Matt Morgan all by himself. Eventually, Jeff Hardy gets involved, and the match ends in a no contest. Also, all night Immortal is having a Thanksgiving celebration, and it turns out that Eric Bischoff has invited Dixie Carter to dinner. She does show up at the end of the show and serves them with papers. She says that Hogan doesn’t have signatory rights to sign the talent he has been signing and that she will see them in court. The show opens with Glacier complaining that people are stealing his finishing move, the Cryonic Kick, which is a superkick. That leads to a match with Gentleman Chris Adams, who is credited as the creator of the superkick. WWF Survivor Series 1997 is known for one thing: The Montreal Screwjob. This was the case where Bret Hart was leaving the WWF to join the WCW. At the time, Bret was the WWF Champion, but he didn’t want to lose the WWF Championship in Canada. Especially to Shawn Michaels. During the match, Michaels put Bret Hart in the Sharpshooter. Vince McMahon, who was ringside, ordered referee Earl Hebner to ring the bell even though Bret hadn’t submitted. Shawn Michaels was declared the new WWF Champion. That was The Montreal Screwjob. Now on November 17th, 1997 on WWF Monday Night RAW, the fallout from the infamous incident begins. Vince McMahon sits down in a one on one interview with Jim Ross. During this candid conversation McMahon explains that Bret Hart refused to lose the WWF Championship before leaving the company to join their rival competition, WCW. He said that Bret put himself above the company and that he had no choice but to protect the company. Vince says, “Bret screwed Bret. I have no sympathy whatsoever for Bret.” Also, as the show opens, the Intercontinental Champion Stone Cold Steve Austin calls out The Rock. The Nation of Domination come to the ring and start attacking Stone Cold! The numbers game got to him allowing The Rock to steal the IC Championship Title Belt. In the main event The Rock battles Dude Love in a non title match, but it ends when The Nation of Domaination get involved. Stone Cold makes the save, but The Rock is able to escape with the IC Title. The Inaugural WWF Draft just happened and this is the final WWF SmackDown! before the roster splits up into two brands. On the March 28th, 2002 episode Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, and X-Pac team up to take on Hulk Hogan, The Rock, and Kane. A huge match that features an iconic Kane promo where he starts talking like Hulkamania. Triple H is teaming with Ric Flair for the very first time as both Kurt Angle and Mr. McMahon want to settle the score with Triple H. Stephanie McMahon was fired and now they want revenge. Also, the Dudley Boyz compete for the WWF Tag Team Titles and if they lose they are going to separate brands. Chris Jericho wrestles Matt Hardy, Maven Fights Raven for the WWF Hardcore Championship, and this is the last night for the APA as they both got drafted to opposite shows. September 26th, 2005 is the final WWE Monday Night RAW on Spike TV. Spike had a few rules on this episode, do not talk bad about Spike TV and don’t mention USA Network. Next week WWE is doing a huge 3 hour episode of WWE RAW Homecoming on USA. Mr. McMahon comes out to open the show and thanks Spike TV for being good partners and promotes the next episode on USA! Spike TV producers didn’t like WWE mentioning USA on air so much that they started to censor the show. They mute commentary and throw up technical difficulty bumpers on the live broadcast. This only made WWE more upset and they start promoting the return to USA even more. The first time ever looking at WWF Wrestling Challenge and today we are taking it back to January 12th, 1992. Rumors have been swirling all over the place, even WWF Magazine, about what is going on with Shawn Michaels and Marty Janetty. The Rockers relationship is a very rocky one indeed. Brutus “The Barber” Beefcake invited both of them to come to The Barbershop and get to the bottom of the drama. Marty thinks that Shawn is only looking out for himself and that they are one of the best teams of all time and need to get back on track. Shawn agrees and they end up hugging. However, Shawn Michaels superkicks Marty Janetty and throws him through The Barbershop glass window! This changes the trajectory of both men and turns Shawn Michaels from a tag team wrestler into a singles superstar! Also, the road to WWF Royal Rumble 1992 is ongoing. January 14th, 2010 is the second ever episode of TNA Wrestling Impact under the Eric Bischoff Hulk Hogan regime. They follow up on the historic Monday Night Impact in this episode entitled “The Band!” The Young Bucks open the show making their debut as Generation Me against the Motor City Machine Guns. During that match we see Scott Hall, Kevin Nash, and Sean Waltman, The Band, arriving to the building. The Nasty Boys trash Team 3D’s locker room leaving behind filth, trash, and poop. Brother Ray uses an axe to break into the locker rock and Team 3D gets attacked by The Nasty Boys and laid out. A mystery man attacks AJ Styles after he goes face to face with Kurt Angle. The mystery person takes off their mask to reveal they are Tyson Tomko. This sets up the main event of AJ Styles vs Tomko. Angelina Love returns and attacks The Beautiful People, Desmond Wolfe battles Samoa Joe, and the Val Venis Christopher Daniels feud begins and sets up a match for the PPV. August 27th, 1999 WWF Monday Night RAW featured the biggest ratings segment in the history of pro wrestling when Mick Foley,, as Mankind threw a celebration for The Rock! WWF Unforgiven 1999 had just happened last night and major fallout from the PPV is happening. Triple H gloats about becoming WWF Champion after winning the vacant title in a Six-pack challenge. Big Show, British Bulldog, Kane, Mankind and The Rock were all unsuccessful in winning the match. Stone Cold was forced to make the count on The Rock as he was the special outside enforcer. Mr. McMahon comes out on RAW is WAR and makes Triple H defend his title tonight against The Rock in the main event! Speaking of The Rock, Mick Foley is upset about how the match played out, so he decides to invite The Rock to the ring! “This is your life, Rock,” gets the biggest ratings of anything pro wrestling related ever! Mankind has confetti, music, party balloons and throws a huge part for The Rock! This lengthy segment has Mankind bringing out The Rock’s old teacher, football coach, and even girlfriend. Near the end, the big surprise is Yurple The Clown! The very same clown that Mick brought to cheer up Mr. McMahon! The Rock even receives a sock puppet named Mr. Rocko with his own face painted on it! Best of all it's not even The Rock’s Birthday! It is truly an all timer segment!
