Welcome to TYBO's Thirsty Thursday. In this weekly episode, Andrew Nauenburg and Sammy Jones share practical advice in three minutes or less to help you overcome any mental roadblocks you might be facing. In this episode, Sammy discusses the significance of committing to a life that aligns with our ambitions and desires. They emphasize the importance of intentional decision-making and the sacrifices required to experience a fulfilling and rewarding life.1. The dreaming stage of life is often the most enjoyable, as we imagine where we want to go and what we want to achieve.2 However, most people struggle to commit to the actions and conditions necessary to fulfill dreams.3. American philosopher Dallas Willard highlights the common human failing of wanting what is correct and essential yet not fully committing to the lifestyle that will bring it into reality.4. Experiencing the life we desire requires us to choose our deepest desires over our immediate and convenient desires. This requires radical intention and consistent effort.5. Our strongest desires tend to be impulsive and reactionary, chosen without much thought because they are easy.6. Choosing to prioritize actions aligned with our desired life and being willing to make sacrifices is necessary for a flourishing life.7. Daily reflection on what actions need to be taken and what sacrifices are worthwhile investments in our future is essential for creating incredible experiences in life.00:52 - 01:08• "The general human failing is to want what is right and important, but at the same time, not commit to the kind of life that will produce the actions we know to be right and the conditions we want to enjoy." - Dallas Willard01:24 - 01:40• "It takes radical intention to choose your deepest desires. Like the things deep down inside your being, over your strongest desires, the things that are convenient and easy, feel good and satisfying at the moment."01:49 - 01:58• "If you take hold of what's truly important to you, you can't get around the intentional work. It takes effort and sacrifice to experience a flourishing life."02:02 - 02:14• "What are the things you need to do today? What do you need to prioritize that aligns with the life that you want? What sacrifices do you need to view as an investment into your future life?"02:14 - 02:20• "If you answer that question every day with action, I promise you will have incredible experiences in life."Links for the show:- Listen on the web on the TYBO Website or your favorite podcast app/platform.Support Our Sponsor:- Irys - Helping Athletes Be Happier and HealthierAre you looking to hire Andrew to speak? Welcome to TYBO's Thirsty Thursday. In this weekly episode, Andrew Nauenburg shares practical advice in three minutes or less to help you overcome any mental roadblocks you might be facing.Today's topic…how to overcome hesitation and take that leap of faith toward something exciting or essential in your life. It's common to delay taking action because we believe the timing isn't ideal or we don't feel fully prepared. But let me tell you something important - waiting for the perfect moment might lead to waiting forever.Instead of waiting for that elusive perfect moment, let's consider a few essential questions to help us move forward:Firstly, ask yourself, "What's holding me back from taking action?" It could be fear, self-doubt, or uncertainty about the future. Identifying these barriers is crucial.Next, explore "How can I address those fears or factors?" Facing our fears, head-on allows us to find solutions and gain confidence. Remember, it's okay to seek support or guidance if needed. Now, take a deep breath and reflect on this question, "What might I lose by waiting?" Waiting too long might cost us valuable opportunities, experiences, and personal growth. Don't let fear of failure hold you back.On the other hand, consider, "What might I gain?" Taking that leap of faith could lead to incredible possibilities, new connections, and a chance to pursue your dreams.Remember, weighing the risks and rewards is essential, but waiting for the perfect moment is a trap we must avoid. Sometimes, the only way to achieve something meaningful is by taking that bold step forward. So, in conclusion, I encourage you to embrace uncertainty and seize the opportunities that excite you. Acknowledge the fears, address them, and trust in yourself. The perfect moment may never come, but the ideal option is the one you create by taking action.Thank you for tuning in today. Remember, it's your life, dreams, and journey – take that leap of faith and make it extraordinary! Until next time, stay inspired and keep moving forward. Now go out and set the world on fire. Stay tuned for a regular episode to be released on Sunday and another Thirsty Thursday next week!Links for the show:- Listen on the web on the TYBO Website or your favorite podcast app/platform.Support Our Sponsor:- Irys - Helping Athletes Be Happier and HealthierAre you looking to hire Andrew to speak? Hi, y'all. Welcome to TYBO's Thirsty Thursday. In this weekly episode, Sammy Jones and Andrew Nauenburg share practical advice in three minutes or less to help you overcome any mental roadblocks you might be facing.Let's get to it: What is Success?Andrew reads you a poem by Ralph Waldo Emerson called "What is Success? In this poem, Emerson explores the true meaning of success beyond conventional notions of wealth and fame. The poem challenges the prevailing societal definition of success and encourages readers to seek a deeper understanding of personal fulfillment.Emerson suggests that success should not be measured solely by material possessions or societal recognition. He emphasizes that true success lies in the ability to live authentically and to pursue one's passions and dreams. He encourages individuals to follow their path and not be swayed by the expectations of others. The poem further highlights the importance of inner contentment and peace to success. Emerson urges readers to cultivate a sense of gratitude and appreciation for life's simple pleasures, recognizing that true fulfillment comes from within and is not dependent on external circumstances.Emerson's message ultimately calls for reevaluating our notions of success, urging us to prioritize personal growth, self-discovery, and genuine happiness. He challenges us to redefine success on our terms based on our values and aspirations. In a nutshell, Emerson's poem "What is Success?" serves as a potent reminder that the pursuit of one's passions should measure success, the cultivation of inner peace, and the ability to live an authentic and fulfilling life. That's it. Hi, y'all. Welcome to TYBO’s Thirsty Thursday. In this weekly episode, Sammy Jones and Andrew Nauenburg share practical advice in three minutes or less to help you overcome any mental roadblocks you might be facing.Let’s get to it: Today’s topic is forming positive habits. We all know how great that feeling is once we have successfully started and stuck with a positive habit. But it isn’t easy to do.Forming a positive habit can be a powerful way to improve your life. Here are three accessible ways to start forming a positive habit you can use TODAY!1.  Start small: Begin with a habit that is easy to incorporate into your daily routine. Starting with a small habit increases the likelihood of success and builds momentum for more significant changes. For example, to develop a reading habit, start with just 10 minutes each day.2.  Set clear goals: Define what you want to achieve with your new habit. Make your goals specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART). Setting a clear target helps you stay focused and motivated.3.  Use habit-stacking: Attach your new habit to an existing one. Identify an action you already do consistently and use it as a cue to trigger the new habit. For instance, if you want to start flossing regularly, do it immediately after brushing your teeth.Remember, forming a habit takes time and effort. Be patient with yourself and embrace the process.
