This week Tash jumped on the Aussie FIRE podcast with Hayden from Pearler and Dave from Strong Money Australia to talk about her money journey before TikTok, Instagram, and “Tash Invests” became a thing. She shares what it was like growing up in a house where money was openly discussed, why saving felt like a game she wanted to win, and how she bought her first ETF at 18 and her first property at 22. They chat about early trade-offs, navigating online criticism and tall poppy syndrome, and staying focused even when other people did not quite get it.They also jump into how her strategy has evolved across shares and property, and why she is really chasing freedom and optionality, not just a big round number. We hope you love this BTS look at consistent wealth building in your 20s, and how small, slightly boring decisions can add up in a big way!@tashinvests@anakresina@getrichslowclub@pearlerhqGet Rich Slow ClubPearlerYouTubeHow To Not Work ForeverDisclaimerAny advice is general and does not consider your financial situation needs, or objectives, so consider whether it’s appropriate for you. Today, Tash is back with part two of our conversation with Lacey Filipich, turning the focus to what we can actually do about climate risk.Lacey explains why relying on fossil fuel companies to change is unlikely, and why removing financial support can be far more effective. This week, we’re joined by Lacey Filipich, a former mining engineer turned financial educator, for a conversation that feels increasingly hard to ignore: climate risk and what it means for the future of property and insurance. Some recent predictions suggest that by 2035, one in ten properties could become uninsurable. Lacey helps us unpack where these numbers are coming from, why they matter, and what they could mean for homeowners, investors, and the wider financial system. We talk through ideas like “climate ghettos,” how changing insurance markets could reshape entire communities, and why this issue has the potential to affect the financial sector as a whole. We won’t lie, parts of this episode are confronting. But it’s an important conversation to start. We've also got you covered with a part 2 coming out on Thursday, where Lacey shifts the focus to what we can actually do, sharing practical steps and areas where we still have control.Articles mentioned by Lacy:Find out more about your home’s resilience needsReport predicting up to 50% contraction of GDP by 2070 to 2090Report by Australian Ethical exploring high impact ways to lower your carbon footprintResources:Find out if your bank invests in fossil fuels (Australia)Find out which banks invest in fossil fuels (Internationally)Find out more about your home’s resilience needsInteractive causal diagram (see what needs to happen to get warming below 1.5 degrees)Sign up to Pearler in January for a year of free brokerage 💸@tashinvests@anakresina@getrichslowclub@pearlerhqGet Rich Slow ClubPearlerYouTubeHow To Not Work ForeverDisclaimerAny advice is general and does not consider your financial situation needs, or objectives, so consider whether it’s appropriate for you. This week we’re chatting with Larissa, our podcast producer, all about her money story, her career pivot from healthcare to fintech, and her very non-linear journey to buying her first home. When Larissa took a close look at her budget, she realised rent and housing costs were by far her biggest expenses, but unfortunately, moving back home wasn’t an option that was available to her. So, she took a risk and combined her healthcare experience with her love of travel and animals, and started pet sitting around Australia in exchange for free accommodation.Fast forward a few years and that decision helped open the door for her to buy her first property, all while still living life on her own terms. We loved this chat with Larissa about embracing non-linear paths, taking risks, staying resilient, and doing the things that scare you just enough. We hope you love it too!Want more of Larissa? Hi guys, I stumbled across your podcast today and I think it's an awesome initiative for those of us who have always wanted to invest but are absolutely daunted by the whole game and just don't know where to begin. Super excited to follow along with the journey! You talked about setting a goal in this episode as an action and suggested investing $5 a day. Can you recommend a place to start with that kind of cash, or do you mean saving $5/ day?
