This podcast was recommended to me by a family member, so I gave it a try. The topic is thought provoking, but I found much of the tone to be disheartening (and this was take 2!!). One of the speakers said "Am I being offensively sarcastic?" YES! Generalities were extrapolated from a visit to a Colorado parish (where Marjorie and Gladys work) and a highly paid secretary somewhere in the east. Just because you know of or experienced those situations doesn't mean they aren't aberrations. I get it that the US apparently has a unique parish model, but you didn't share what the successful model is elsewhere. Does the pastor write the weekly bulletin? Do parishioners have access to daily Communion? Does the pastor cut checks for parish activities? Maybe you are saying those aren't necessary, or maybe you are saying unpaid lay people have to do those tasks, but the overt snarkiness made it hard to figure out. Basically, you said the US model is wrong, but offered no alternative. But, if you w
