“God moves in a mysterious way
His wonders to perform;
He plants His footsteps in the sea
and rides upon the storm.
Judge not the Lord by feeble sense,
but trust Him for His grace;
behind a frowning providence
He hides a smiling face.
Blind unbelief is sure to err,
and scan His work in vain;
God is His own interpreter,
and He will make it plain.”
– William Cowper, “God Moves in a Mysterious Way,” 1774

"How bitter that cup
No heart can conceive,
Which He drank quite up,
That sinners might live!
His way was much rougher
And darker than mine;
Did Christ, my Lord, suffer,
And shall I repine?
Since all that I meet
Shall work for my good,
The bitter is sweet,
The medicine, food;
Though painful at present,
’Twill cease before long,
And then, oh, how pleasant
The conqueror’s song!"
- "Begone Unbelief" by John Newton
The day I first truly saw Jesus is burned into
my memory for the rest of my life. The simultaneous death and resurrection I
experienced in that moment was wonderful and overwhelming. I am still
discovering the implications of it all. If you have not seen Jesus yet, I hope
you will draw near to him and that he will draw near to you. If you have seen
Jesus, I hope that you will, along with me and the great cloud of witnesses
with us, "lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and
let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the
founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him
endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the
throne of God" (Hebrews 12:1b-2).
"His delight is not in the strength of the horse, nor his pleasure in the legs of a man, but the Lord takes pleasure in those who fear him, in those who hope in his steadfast love."
Psalm 147:10-11
“When the people saw that Moses delayed to come down from the mountain, the people gathered themselves together to Aaron and said to him, ‘Up, make us gods who shall go before us. As for this Moses, the man who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him.’”
