Do you love nipping out for a Christmas Day 5k or prefer to lay in and relax by the fire? It’s almost Christmas and today we’re chatting about Christmas running traditions, keeping active over the festive season, and looking after your mental health by avoiding the diet culture dinner table talk. The holiday season can be a joy, but also comes with the potential for worry and stress around fitting in running and negative emotions towards food and our bodies. I want to let you know that you’re not alone - and now is the best time to start putting your happiness first and focus on what’s going to bring you joy.
The temperature has dropped in the uk and it’s dark 24/7 so let’s chat about how to get up and moving when your bed has got you locked down in cosy comfort. We’ll also cover how to keep safe in those early morning/late night runs chatting all things visibility and personal safety (promise I tried to not make it as boring as it sounds!)
Hey hey! I’m back with an Amsterdam marathon debrief, a chat about returning to running amid catching Covid and plans for the future. I can’t wait to get back to chatting about running and hearing from you guys about your running journeys!
Does running help you relieve stress? Me too! But what about when things get overwhelming in both life and training? In this episode we chat all about the balance between keeping running and managing life stress, finding balance and making sure we are in the best place physically and emotionally.
Coming at you with a bit more of a chatty and informal natter today with some highly unprofessional advice on how to get yourself up and moving when you’re in a bit of a slump. We’ll chat about how chunking isn’t just for races, and discuss my personal trick ‘listening or lazy’ - while examining the parts of movement that can boost us up when we’re feeling down.
We are getting thrifty and chatting all things keeping running cheap. As a sport running has very few financial barriers, but it’s easy to get sucked into the running influencer world of over consumption (oh hey, capitalism!) but it doesn’t have to be that way! We’re going to talk through all the ways you can keep running cheap and cheerful while still getting the most out of your running experience.
Today we’ll have a chat about all the amazing things you get to experience and enjoy as a runner that aren’t pace or performance focussed. Sometimes it’s easy to get wrapped up in progress and statistics, but whether you’re out on your regular morning loop or running in some beautiful exotic location, there is so much beauty and peace to be found in the movement and our surroundings that we often forget to notice.
In this episode we will look back on last weeks Reading Half Marathon and discuss the pros and cons of the half marathon distance, pacing strategies, what to do (and what absolutely not to do, but you might be tempted to do anyway). We’ll also get excited about spring racing season and touch on some current highlights of races from the last few weeks, while looking forward to London and Boston marathon as they approach on the horizon!
As if it’s taken 6 months for me to actually record a London marathon debrief - very much opposite to the message of this episode of this being the year of doing, not just talking about doing. Anywayyyyyyy please enjoy this rundown of my first marathon, mistakes I made, lessons I learned, anecdotes and a couple of sniffly tears.
Essentially just me freaking out for half an hour but maybe you’ll relate to this if you’re also heading for a marathon in the coming weeks!
I recorded this on the 2nd of September so this is super outdated now but I think it’s about time I started actually uploading episodes I record. Enjoy!!!
In which I don’t run and we chat about running in the heat, mental energy for running, and a whole host of other very exciting and highly interesting things.
In which I run 4 miles and moan about my shin splints, attempt to share what I’m doing and what I have found to help aforementioned shin splits, and discuss the highlights of the London Marathon Meet the experts event.
