Pascal is known for her work at Sony and continues to work with Phil Lord and Christopher Miller on different projects such as Spider-Man: Noir. Heyman’s name ought to be familiar to Harry Potter fans as he produced all eight of the original films and is also in pre-production on the new series. Though it took first place this weekend, the $43 million domestic opening of Disney’s live action remake of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is a box office failure. Along with dismal revenue for the controversy-embroiled film, it has received an overall CinemaScore of B+ - something no Disney live action remake has done yet. Robert DeNiro’s Alto Knights also debuted to disappointing figures and the Jonathan Majors-led Magazine Dreams only cracked $700,000 in its limited release.Apple’s streaming service had a huge win after finishing the second season of Severance last week when the show became the most-streamed series on AppleTV+, surpassing Ted Lasso. Severance hit the Nielsen streaming report for five consecutive weeks, clocking in with 681 million minutes viewed. Apple CEO Tim Cook quickly gave the show the greenlight for a third season last Friday morning. On the heels of this news, it may be surprising - or not - to hear that Apple loses $1 billion a year on the streaming service and only has 45 million subscribers. But based on what the tech giant has said in the past, this may not matter.Speaking at Disney's annual shareholder meeting, Bob Iger confirmed that Pixar is developing a sequel film to Coco with a targeted theatrical release date sometime in 2029. The sequel will bring back members of the creative team from the original film, including director Lee Unkrichn and co-director Adrian Molina. Mark Nielsen will produce.WME is shopping the rights to the Jason Bourne franchise as well as the full library of Robert Ludlam properties to potential suitors since the rights have officially expired at Universal. Skydance, Apple and Netflix are said to have met with the estate for the rights. Universal, too, could potentially win the rights back if it made an attractive bid.Sherman Augustus has joined the cast of HBO's Lanterns in a recurring role. He will play John Stewart's father, John Senior. J. Alphonse Nicholson was also cast last week in the series and will play a younger version of John Senior.Agency Verve, which has represented the rights for the Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise since 2017, is reportedly looking to sell the rights to revive the franchise. A rumored interested party, according to Deadline, is filmmaker JT Mollner and producer Roy Lee and if they get a script together, word is that Glen Powell would like to read it. Winderbaum indicated that the studio is excited about this possibility, but there are a lot of variables that will determine the success of pulling it all together. While this is fun to hear as fans, other Marvel TV is taking a pause. Though sources say these projects were never officially greenlit, Deadline reports that Nova, Strange Academy, and Terror, Inc. are not currently being developed. This is mostly being attributed to Marvel’s shift to traditionally-run television shows. But in confirmed news, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that Jon Bernthal will star in a Marvel Studios Special Presentation featuring The Punisher that will air in 2026 alongside the second season of Daredevil: Born Again.On Monday we were treated to the surprise drop of the full Andor season 2 trailer from Lucasfilm. In a very un-Star Wars-like fashion, the high octane footage is set to The Revolution Starts Now by Steve Earle and reminds viewers of how acclaimed the first season was. The drop shared more interesting news; the 12-episode season will be dropped in increments of three episodes at a time for four weeks. Phew!DC’s duo of James Gunn and Peter Safran took time to have a press event last Friday where they updated us, the people, on where things are going with DC Studios. It’s been just over two years since the big film and television overhaul with DC was announced, with Gunn and Safran taking control of the franchise. Gunn reiterated their desire to bring new stories to life with these characters. The updates included the following: Supergirl is halfway through production, Lanterns began production last week, Clayface will be directed by James Watkins and is eyeing a fall 2026 release, Sgt. Rock, still being directed by Luca Guadagnino, no longer has Daniel Craig attached and is looking for its new star, and the animated Robin movie, Dynamic Duo, is in pre-production. Lastly and perhaps most importantly, Gunn had some comments on The Brave and The Bold that some are taking as confirmation that Robert Pattinson will not be the DCU’s Batman, with the filmmaker saying,“It's certainly not the plan.” And Safran added, “And we love him, but we've got to introduce a Batman into the DCU. That's imperative. And so that's the plan with The Brave and the Bold.”The James Bond movie franchise is going through a shake up, with Amazon MGM Studios and Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli forming a new joint venture to house the movie property’s intellectual property rights. Under the terms of the agreement, Amazon MGM Studios will gain creative control of the James Bond franchise, while Wilson and Broccoli will remain co-owners of the 60-year-old property. In 2022, Amazon acquired MGM. Since the MGM acquisition, Amazon has held rights to distribute all of the James Bond films, and following completion of the joint venture transaction will control the creative on future productions.Season two of The Last of Us finally has a premiere date. The seven-episode season of the drama will debut April 13 on HBO. The new Jurassic film features a stacked cast of Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali, Jonathan Bailey, and Rupert Friend. The newest dinosaur flick in the epic franchise arrives July 2 among other blockbusters that month, The Fantastic Four: First Steps, and Superman. Directed by Gareth Edwards, the film takes place five years after the storyline of Jurassic World Dominion and the creators are citing Michael Crichton’s original book as providing a lot of plot inspiration.A couple of Marvel stories are making the rounds after being revealed on podcasts recently. Firstly, actor Colman Domingo verified that he did have conversations with Marvel executives, though only after rumors of him playing Kang the Conqueror were circulating. Domingo emphasized that he wants a role that will allow him to “build something from the ground up” and that the Kang rumors were never a conversation from his point of view. On the comics side, Deadpool co-creator Rob Liefield left some comments on the floor of the Robservations podcast about feeling slighted during the Deadpool & Wolverine creative process and that Marvel boss Kevin Feige ignored him on the red carpet. Liefield also said that Marvel has a history of not treating comics creators well, specifically name dropping Feige. Hasbro Entertainment is teaming with Legendary Entertainment to develop a shared Magic: The Gathering universe that it says will span film and TV. We met all of the four main characters and even saw a glimpse of the biggest bad of all…Galactus.  Last week we reported on Doctor Strange actor Benedict Cumberbatch’s statements about officially not being a part of Avengers: Doomsday. The very next day the actor recanted his claims in an interview with Business Insider, saying, "I got that wrong, I am in the next one,” adding, "Don't ever believe anything I say." Elsewhere, Chris Evans had a record of his own to set straight, denying the many reports that he has been cast to return in Doomsday while speaking with Esquire, claiming, “That’s not true, though. This always happens. I mean, it happens every couple years — ever since Endgame. I’ve just stopped responding to it. Yeah, no — happily retired!” Finally, in an interview on Andy Cohen Live, the legendary Patti LuPone may have shed some light on the future of Disney Plus series WandaVision and Agatha All Along, saying showrunner Jac Schaeffer told her she doesn’t do second seasons.  Sunday’s Super Bowl LIX, where the Kansas City Chiefs will defend their title against the Philadelphia Eagles, is bound to bring a bevy of trailers for movies and series in tow, but let’s talk about what exactly is confirmed, expected, predicted, and everything in between: only three motion picture studios have been willing to invest the substantial sum of $7.5 to $8 million for a single 30-second commercial spot: Disney, Paramount, and Universal. The film that previously held that date, the sixth film in the Insidious franchise, has moved back a year to Aug. 21, 2026. Robert Eggers has closed a deal to write and direct a new Labyrinth film for TriStar Pictures. Plot details are under wraps, but sources tell Deadine that the film is a sequel to, rather than a remake of, Jim Henson’s 1986 classic.

You basically get the movie and the story you want, you edit it together, then go back and shoot a few more scenes." Since last week, The Hollywood Reporter has also finally revealed that the total budget of the film is significantly less than previously thought - coming in at around $180 million dollars. Switching to the Sorcerer Supreme himself, Benedict Cumberbatch made some headlines after revealing in an interview with Variety that Doctor Strange will not be in Avengers: Doomsday. Cumberbatch cited the reason being Strange’s character “not aligning with this part of the story,” and also let loose that the Master of the Mystic Arts will be in “a lot” of Avengers: Secret Wars. In typical James Gunn fashion, the director and DC Studios co-chair gave us a first look at Milly Alcock’s Supergirl in a still photo he released on social media last week. The post also confirmed filming recently began. The weekend’s NFL division championships provided space for a new-ish Superman trailer, with mostly the same footage, but a different look at Nicholas Hoult’s Lex Luther. And in our final DC news nugget, actor Ulrich Thomson was cast as villain Sinestro for the upcoming Lanterns series. Thomsen is a Danish actor who was seen in The Blacklist here in the states. In comics, Sinestro is Hal Jordan’s mentor. The Oscar nominations were unveiled last week after a brief delay caused by the devastating and ongoing fires in California. Leading the pack this year is Emilia Pérez, earning an impressive 13 nominations despite ongoing controversy surrounding the film’s portrayal of cultural identity, which has sparked heated debates online. Close behind are The Brutalist and Wicked, tied with 10 nominations each and A Complete Unknown and Conclave earned eight nods apiece. On the studio front, Netflix emerged as the frontrunner with 16 total nominations, followed by A24 with 14, Universal with 13, Focus Features with 12, and Searchlight with 10. However, the announcement wasn’t without its surprises—or disappointments—as some fan-favorite films, including Challengers, Furiosa, and Civil War, were notably snubbed. Warner Bros unveiled a new official trailer for SINNERS from director Ryan Coogler and frequent collaborator and star Michael B. Jordan, the film will hit theatres April 18. David Leitch — the stuntman turned director behind John Wick and The Fall Guy — is in talks to direct Ocean's 14. The film is expected to return original Ocean's 11 cast members George Clooney and Brad Pitt, among others. Neon has released the first trailer for horror film Hell of a Summer, starring Stranger Things star Finn Wolfhard, who is also making his directorial debut. The film debuts in theaters on April 18. HBO has renewed anthology series The White Lotus for a fourth season. The third season will begin streaming on February 16. Focus Features, Universal’s art house division which released and financed Nosferatu, is reteaming with Robert Eggers for his next film titled Werwulf, currently set for release on Christmas Day 2026. While details are scarce, sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that the story is set in 13th century England. George Nolfi, known for his screenplay work on movies such as The Bourne Ultimatum and Ocean’s 12, has been tapped to write New Jedi Order, the Daisy Ridley-centric Star Wars movie. The move to Nolfi makes the third writer change for the project.

The trailer was met with universal praise for its dark tone and brutal depictions of violence, elements that it shares with the beloved Netflix series. The nine-episode first season premieres March 4 on Disney Plus. In some Captain America news, it was confirmed that Brave New World will have a total runtime of one hour and 58 minutes, which ties it with Ant-Man & The Wasp as the seventh shortest MCU flick to date. It will also be the first Captain America film under two hours long. It’s brand new news today, Ryan Gosling is in negotiations to star in Shawn Levy’s future Star Wars film. Levy’s film has been in development with Lucasfilm since 2022, and getting Gosling seems like it could be a major step in getting the film truly off the ground and into the galaxy far, far away. According to Sneider, the studio’s replacement of Boseman is only due to the fact that the MCU is working within the Multiverse currently. In related news, when asked during an interview about a dream role, Wicked star Cynthia Erivo said she would “really want to play Storm,” to “uncover how grand she is,”. Lastly, an OG villain is returning to the MCU, with Faran Tahir coming to the small screen to reprise the character of Raza, the leader of the so-called Ten Rings from 2008’s Iron Man.  In some confirmed casting news, Rory McCann will replace the late Ray Stevenson as Baylan Skoll for Ahsoka season two. McCann is best known for playing The Hound in Game of Thrones, but his roster of work also includes Gladiator II, Hot Fuzz, Clash of the Titans, and more. Ahsoka is part of Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau’s Mandoverse, and Filoni will return as showrunner for season two. Director Andy Muschietti let it be known why he thinks the 2023 DCEU movie The Flash, flopped. Universal Pictures has updated the release date calendar for two animated properties. DreamWorks' Shrek 5 has been pushed back almost 6 months to December 23, 2026 and Minions 3 from Illumination is moving forward almost a year to take Shrek 5’s original date of  July 1, 2026. Variety reported today that MCU screenwriting veteran Marcus McFeely originally turned the Russo Brothers down about writing for Secret Wars, even though he is the reason the directing duo is returning. However, the next day McFeely called the Russos back and said he was in after coming up with an idea for the film. Warner Brothers is bringing back The Puppy Bowl for its 21st installment this year, but will use the game to bolster its upcoming DCU film Superman. James Gunn will appear during The Puppy Bowl with his dog Ozu, who served as the inspiration for the superdog Krypto in the film. Gunn will introduce a sneak preview of Superman and deliver a “special message” to viewers. According to box office tracking service Quorum, Captain America: Brave New World will likely cross the $100 Million Dollar Mark in it’s opening 4 day weekend Ludwig Göransson will compose the score for Christopher Nolan's upcoming adaptation of The Odyssey. Succession creator Jesse Armstrong has reached an agreement with HBO to produce a feature film. The movie is based on an original idea of Armstrong’s and will center on four friends who meet up in the midst of a global financial crisis. Sony has announced a movie adaptation of Horizon Zero Dawn in collaboration with PlayStation Studios and Columbia Pictures, the studio behind 2022's Uncharted. While no release date has been set, the film will bring Guerrilla Games' post-apocalyptic adventure starring machine hunter Aloy to the big screen. Jacob Elordi is in early negotiations to replace Paul Mescal in Ridley Scott’s The Dog Stars. Mark L. Smith and Christopher Wilkinson wrote the script for the 20th Century Studios film, which adapts Peter Heller’s 2012 apocalyptic novel of the same name. Disney+ has greenlit a pilot for a TV series adaptation of Louis Sachar's beloved novel "Holes." The project follows in the footsteps of Disney's 2003 film version of the book, though no further details about the potential series have been revealed yet.

As a post-holiday treat, Marvel Animation dropped its first look at Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, premiering in January. The short teaser trailer gives us a good look at the Hudson Thames-voiced Peter Parker and a glimpse of Norman Osborn, who is voiced by Colman Domingo. Other voice talent for the show features Hugh Dancy, Charlie Cox, and Vincent D’Onofrio. If you enjoyed diving back into the dark, broody, Gotham of Matt Reeves Batman universe during The Penguin, get ready to be disappointed. It was announced that The Batman II has been pushed from its 2026 release date to October 1, 2027. The film is set to begin production in the last half of 2025 and DC co-chief James Gunn cited Reeves working to perfect the script as some of the reason for delay. The October 2, 2026 date formerly held by The Batman II is being taken by a film coming from The Revenant director Alejandro González Iñárritu and Tom Cruise. The triumph of the sequel movies continues at the box office this holiday season with Sonic the Hedgehog 3 having a very successful opening before Christmas to a $62 million domestic debut and has now climbed to a worldwide total of $159.5 million. Though Disney’s prequel, Mufasa: The Lion King, fell short of opening projections, the holiday season has been kind to the film as it currently holds a $221.7 million global box office. Wicked and Moana 2 still hold the overall crowns at the box office and Matt Eggers’ Nosferatu, which debuted on Christmas Day, is sitting quietly but solidly at $26 million domestically for three days. The first trailer for A24 dark comedy Death of a Unicorn has been released. The film, written and directed by Alex Scharfman in his directorial debut, stars Paul Rudd and Jenna Ortega, and hits theaters in the spring of 2025. Sony Pictures CEO Tony Vinciquerra recently told the Los Angeles Times that Kraven the Hunter is “probably the worst launch we had” in the nearly eight years he’s been at the studio, adding: “I still don’t understand, because the film is not a bad film." Vinciquerra also blamed the press for the bombing of Madame Web. Paramount+ has renewed the Jeremy Renner-led series Mayor of Kingstown for a fourth season. Netflix has released the first trailer for The Electric State, a sci-fi thriller from the Russo Brothers that stars Chris Pratt, Ke Huy Quan, and Millie Bobby Brown. The film will debut on March 14. Paramount is moving forward with Sonic the Hedgehog 4 to continue the video game adaptation film franchise. Currently, the film is targeting a Spring 2027 release. With an animated series already in development, Sony Animation and Netflix are looking to expand on building on their Ghostbusters universe as sources tell Deadline the two are teaming on a Ghostbusters animated film. Insiders add that the project is still in early development but that Kris Pearn is attached to direct. HBO has renewed Dune prequel series Dune: Prophecy for a second season. Sony has announced that the 28 Years Later sequel titled 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple directed by Nia Decosta will hit theaters on January 16, 2026. The movie is the second installment in Danny Boyle and Alex Garland‘s planned zombie apocalypse follow up trilogy. Jared Leto will officially play villain Skeletor in the upcoming live action Masters of the Universe from Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel Films. The Hollywood Reporter has learned that Evil Dead Rise filmmaker Lee Cronin is writing and directing a new take on The Mummy for New Line. Horror powerhouses Atomic Monster and Blumhouse, along with Cronin’s banner Doppelgängers, are producing and the film is currently set for an April 17, 2026 release. Sony has announced that filmmaker Tom Gormican’s reimagining of the 1997 snake-focused horror movie Anaconda will hit theaters on December 25, 2025. Paul Rudd and Jack Black star in the new feature from Columbia Pictures.

Bernero, who also co-created the Criminal Minds spinoff, Suspect Behavior, will serve as writer and showrunner for the Richard Ryder-focused series. Additionally, off the heels of last week’s reports about Chris Evans’ return to the MCU in Avengers: Doomsday, last Friday, Variety broke the news that Evans’ frequent scene partner, Hayley Atwell is also expected to reprise her role as Agent Peggy Carter. While the DCU officially launched earlier this month with the premiere of Creature Commandos on Max, James Gunn’s first live action offering, next summer’s Superman, unveiled its official poster via social media Monday morning. The image, a motion graphic, is an obvious allusion to Christopher Reeves’ take on the character, and showcases David Corenswett’s Superman ascending in flight, accompanied by a remix of John Williams’ classic score and a tagline that reads, ‘Look up.’ Exciting details; all of which preempts the gut punch that the official teaser trailer will not release until Thursday… (Thanks, James…) Elsewhere, horror filmmaker Mike Flanagan has been given the go ahead to write his standalone Clayface film. Without a director attached yet, it’s unclear whether this film will be a part of the Matt Reeves The Batman/Penguin crime Elseworld, though Gunn referred to it as a DCU film. Currently slated for a September 2026 release, Flanagan previously described it as a horror/thriller/tragedy while expressing interest back as early as 2021. Kraven the Hunter, the latest and perhaps final entry of Sony’s Spider-Man-less universe, opened this weekend to a disappointing $11 million total, a franchise low. In the wake of this fumble, just the most recent in a long string, many a Sony insider have come out of the woodwork to spill the tea, resulting in the internet being ablaze with claims that the studio is finally pulling the plug. But, not so fast! While it does sound like Sony will stop making spin-offs without Spider-Man, the studio remains quote, ‘deeply invested’ in projects that include the marquee character and his many variations, including the Spider-Man Noir series that is in production in partnership with Amazon. Michael Gracey is in talks to direct Disney's live-action Tangled with a screenplay by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson  from the I Know What You Did Last Summer reboot. Variety has learned that Austin Butler is set to star in Luca Guadagnino‘s new interpretation of the book “American Psycho” by Bret Easton Ellis for Lionsgate. Per Deadline, Joseph Quinn is reportedly set to play George Harrison in Sam Mendes’ upcoming Beatles biopic series. Barry Keoghan will portray Ringo Starr, Paul Mescal is expected to play Paul McCartney, and Harris Dickinson is the frontrunner for John Lennon. Marvel Comics announced Godzilla vs. Marvel, a six-issue one-shot series marking their first Godzilla crossover in nearly 50 years. The series spans different time periods, starting with a Fantastic Four story. Malcolm in the Middle is returning for a four-episode revival on Disney+ to celebrate its 25th anniversary. Original stars Frankie Muniz, Bryan Cranston, and Jane Kaczmarek will reprise their roles as Malcolm and his parents, Hal and Lois. The Hollywood Reporter claims Greta Gerwig and Noah Baumbach pitched a Barbie sequel to Warner Bros., but both their rep and the studio deny it. “There is no legitimacy to this,” says the filmmakers’ rep, while Warner Bros. calls the report “inaccurate.” The previously announced DCU film Dynamic Duo has received a release date of June 30th, 2028.

It wasn’t quite the box office battle Hollywood wanted it to be this weekend with Wicked and Gladiator II going toe to toe in movie theaters. The musical movie adaptation soared with a nearly $114 million domestic opening, making it the biggest premiere ever for a Broadway movie adaptation. Into the Woods previously held that title, opening to just $31 million in 2014. Internationally, Wicked raked in an additional $50.2 million giving it a total opening of $164 million. While Gladiator II limped behind the musical phenomenon domestically, opening to $55.5 million, it succeeded in the international market to the tune of $165.5 million and overtook Wicked’s worldwide box office significantly due to opening one week earlier internationally. The Blonde Bond himself, Daniel Craig, is a potential star for the feature film Sgt. Rock, which is in early development with DC Studios. While nothing is known about the plot, the character first appeared in comics in 1959 as a World War II soldier and was created by Robert Kanigher and Joe Kubert. Challengers director Luca Guadagnino is set to direct and his screenwriting collaborator on both Challengers and upcoming film Queer, Justin Kurtizkes, will pen the script. In a deleted scene from Season 2 of Loki — part of an impending 4K UHD Blu-ray release — Loki recalls just how many people said Loki was a problem while talking with his friend Mobius over slices of key lime pie. After listing many names, Loki also brings up two villains from Marvel comics that audiences have not yet encountered in the MCU. The first is Amora, also known as Enchantress and the second is Absorbing Man, who began life as a boxer named Carl Creel, a character seen in Agents of Shield, — until Loki poisons him with an elixir that gives him the ability to transform his body into the quality of anything he touches. At the very end, Loki also brings up Hercules, who appeared in a post credits scene of Thor: Love and Thunder. Disney and Lucasfilm have revealed that animated anthology series Star Wars: Visions is coming back for a third volume in 2025. A new teaser has been released for Noah Hawley's upcoming Alien franchise series titled Alien: Earth that confirms the series will arrive in the summer of 2025 on FX and Hulu. Deadline has confirmed that Suits spinoff series Suits: LA will feature the return of Gabriel Macht who played Harvey Specter on the original series in a limited reprisal of his role that is being described as a three episode arc. Robert Pattinson and Charlize Theron have both joined the cast of Christopher Nolan's upcoming untitled film. They join Tom Holland, Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, Lupita Nyong’o, and Matt Damon. Banijay Rights, the distributor for Netflix anthology series Black Mirror, has struck a deal with Neil Gibson’s UK-based Twisted Comics to create comics based on several of the episodes of the series. Developer CD Projekt announced The Witcher 4 video game is now in full-scale production. Isabel May, best known for her role in Yellowstone prequel series 1883 and 1923, has joined the cast of Scream 7 and will play Neve Campbell's daughter. Samuel L. Jackson is in negotiations for a key role in J.J. Abrams’ untitled feature at Warner Bros. He joins Jenna Ortega, Glen Powell, and Emma Mackey. In an interview about his upcoming voice role of Doctor Phosphorus in Creature Commandos, Alan Tudyk confirmed that he will also voice Clayface in the series. Tudyk also voices Clayface on Harley Quinn: The Animated Series and its spin-off Kite-Man: Hell Yeah!, but this version will be a new iteration of the character.

New details surrounding Marvel Studios’ The Fantastic Four: First Steps have emerged with the release of this official synopsis: Set against the vibrant backdrop of a 1960s-inspired, retro-futuristic world, Marvel Studios’ The Fantastic Four: First Steps introduces Marvel’s First Family — Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic , Sue Storm/Invisible Woman , Johnny Storm/Human Torch, and Ben Grimm/The Thing as they face their most daunting challenge yet. Forced to balance their roles as heroes with the strength of their family bond, they must defend Earth from a ravenous space god called Galactus (Ralph Ineson) and his enigmatic Herald, Silver Surfer (Julia Garner). And if Galactus’ plan to devour the entire planet and everyone on it weren’t bad enough, it suddenly gets very personal. While this synopsis may be sparse on specificity, it does officially confirm Julia Garner’s role to be that of a Silver Surfer, which was strongly suspected until now. In the wake of some big announcements and updates regarding the franchise’s future on the big screen, Star Wars has removed at least one of its upcoming film projects from the calendar. Last week, Disney pulled the untitled Star Wars flick occupying a December 18, 2026 release and replaced it with the recently announced Ice Age 6. Elsewhere on the small screen, fans can look forward to more information on Andor Season 2 soon, with the series on display in the coveted cover feature of Empire Magazine’s November issue, available November 21. Our pal Jimmy Gunn is back to his antics providing some seeming clarity on Peacemaker’s canon status within his DCU. While speaking with IGN, the filmmaker explained that nothing is canon ‘unless you see it in Creature Commandos,’ or is released after that series, which debuts on Max December 5. Gunn went on to clarify that the new canon would include prior events and characters that are referenced in Creature Commandos, which would include all of Peacemaker’s first season, barring one scene. “The truth is almost all of Peacemaker is canon with the exception of Justice League… which we will kind of deal with in the next season of Peacemaker,” The Assembled behind the scenes web documentary for Agatha All Along was suspiciously released via Youtube rather than Disney Plus… While speaking at Vulture Festival, Elizabeth Olsen shared that returning to Marvel feels like a choice driven by character-focused storytelling, not an obligation, and acknowledged superhero films' role in making indie projects possible. The reboot is believed to be a new story with new characters not attached to the original. HBO's Lanterns has added Never Have I Ever star Poorna Jagannathan to the cast. Dwayne Johnson and Chris Evans’ Christmas movie Red One came in at the lower end of expectations with a $32.1 million domestic outing. Apple TV+ has ordered a 10-episode series adaptation of Cape Fear with Javier Bardem starring as Max Cady, a notorious killer seeking revenge on a couple of attorneys. Steven Spielberg and Martin Scorsese will executive produce the series.

We’ve been talking about it for a few weeks now, but Marvel Studios just upped the ante on future projects with their presentation at D23 in Brazil this past weekend. Condense it and discuss, you say? Absolutely! Here...we…go… A brand new trailer was shown and released worldwide for Captain America: Brave New World with a longer look at the character of Isaiah Bradley. Hot off those red Hulk heels, a longer Thunderbolts* trailer was released that really set the tone for the film while still leaving us with questions. Also in trailer news, What If Season 3 got a spotlight this week and the trailer Marvel released declares that this season is the end. The man, the myth, the legend himself, Kevin Feige, also teased attendees (and therefore all of us!) with many other tantalizing nuggets such as: The character of Blade WILL reach the MCU. Queen of our hearts and minds the Scarlet Witch will likely return! Feige said the questions are “when and how” that will happen. Feige “hopes” that Miles Morales will enter the live action MCU sometime after the third animated Spider-Verse movie releases. And finally…FINALLY, the X-Men will, according to Feige, play a major role in the MCU after Secret Wars. It’s the age of Dave Filoni as Lucasfilm has brought his Star Wars Rebels co-creator Simon Kinberg on board to develop a new trilogy of films in the galaxy far, far away. The new trilogy will not be a continuation of the nine-film Skywalker Saga, but will feature new characters and new stories - though insiders say this may be up for debate. Regardless, don’t count out characters from other corners of the universe showing up. Kinberg’s producing credits include Logan, the first two Deadpool movies, acting as a consultant for The Force Awakens, and he’s involved in the upcoming adaptation of Stephen King’s The Running Man starring Glen Powell. In a wild and unofficial move, Denzel Washington revealed during the Gladiator II press tour that he is being written into a third Black Panther movie that will be directed by Ryan Coogler. Development on a Black Panther 3 film has not been announced by Marvel Studios in any official capacity, but wow what a rumor to start, Denzel! HBO released a sizzle reel for their 2025 shows that will stream on Max, showcasing footage from an astounding number of their shows. Favorites like The White Lotus, The Last of Us, Hacks, and The Gilded Age were highlighted alongside upcoming shows Welcome to Derry, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, and The Chair Company, to name a few. Today, Disney+ also shared a sizzle reel this week featuring, of course, our anticipated Marvel and Star Wars projects, as well as some of their other darlings like The Bear, Goosebumps, The Handmaid’s Tale, and more Netflix has released a video confirming that the fifth and final season of Stranger Things will release in 2025 and will be eight episodes long. The video also confirmed the titles of each episode. Macaulay Culkin has joined the Season 2 cast of Prime Video's Fallout in a recurring role, sources tell Deadline. A Mass Effect TV series based on the video game franchise is officially in development at Amazon MGM Studios, Variety has learned. The next book in the Marvel Crime series was announced and will be called Enemy of My Enemy featuring Daredevil and is written by bestselling author Alex Segura. The adult novel will be available July 29, 2025. Warner Brothers has announced that the release date for Bong Joon Ho's Mickey 17 starring Robert Pattinson has shifted release dates from January 31, 2025 to April 18, 2025. Anne Hathaway, Lupita Nyong’o, and Zendaya have joined the cast of Christopher Nolan's upcoming untitled film. They join Matt Damon and Tom Holland.

Last week, mere minutes after our Tuesday evening recording session, we were both delighted and disheartened when Marvel Studios dropped its “Look Ahead | Disney Plus’’ trailer, which not only provided release dates, but showcased our first official look at footage, for a whopping 8 streaming projects. Here’s what we learned: Box office juggernaut Deadpool & Wolverine will be available to stream on the platform beginning November 12, 2024. We already knew Daredevil: Born Again is set to begin streaming March 4, 2025, but the trailer, which was intercut with footage from the other shows, gave us our first look at the villain Muse, the return of Jon Bernthal’s Punisher, as well as Bullseye, and perhaps most surprisingly the inclusion of Ms. Marvel’s dad, Yusuf Khan What If Season 3 will begin streaming this December 22nd, with no word as to whether that will be a weekly or daily release, like last year. Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man will begin airing January 29th, 2025 Riri William’s Ironheart makes her return beginning June 24th, 2025 Eyes of Wakanda, the animated anthology series is set for an August 6th, 2025 debut Marvel Zombies will premiere sometime in October 2025, with the live action Wonder Man series starring Yahya Abdul Mateen II arriving later that December. In a final marketing push ahead of its December 3 premiere, Lucasfilm released final art, a poster, and a new trailer for Star Wars: Skeleton Crew. The series, which is helmed by Spider-Man filmmaker Jon Watts, is an Amblin Entertainment-inspired coming of age tale that follows four youths who embark on a swashbuckling adventure with unexpected revelations. The trailer is in keeping with what we’ve seen from the series thus far, which is to say it feels tonally divergent from anything we’ve seen in Star Wars before, including new species, planets, and a synth-pop heavy score. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros is gearing up to bring the world of George R.R. Martin’s Game of Thrones to the silver screen with at least one film in early development. And that’s pretty much all we know – there’s no creative talent attached yet, meaning no writer or director, much less any word regarding a potential time, setting, or characters that might be involved. Amazon MGM Studios is testing actors for the role of Lara Croft in Phoebe Waller-Bridge's upcoming Tomb Raider series. Sophie Turner and Lucy Boynton top Amazon's wish list, according to Deadline. Scary Movie creators Marlon, Shawn, and Keenen Ivory Wayans are reuniting after 18 years to develop a new film in the franchise for Paramount and Miramax. Kelly Macdonald, known for Boardwalk Empire and No Country for Old Men, has joined the cast of DC Studios' Lanterns. Amazon MGM Studios is developing a Jack Ryan film, continuing the series storyline with John Krasinski, Wendell Pierce, and Michael Kelly. Andrew Bernstein will direct. Early box office projections show Wicked opening at over $80 million domestically and Gladiator 2 at $65 million, both debuting on November 22. Universal Pictures and LEGO have partnered to develop three live-action LEGO films, directed by Jake Kasdan, Patty Jenkins, and Joe Cornish. Toho has officially greenlit a new Godzilla movie from the director of last year's Oscar-winning Godzilla Minus One. Amazon MGM Studios has acquired American Speed, starring Tom Holland and Austin Butler as the scandal-ridden Whittington Brothers, with Oscar-winning producer Charles Roven attached. Ridley Scott revealed to The Hollywood Reporter that he's working on a new Alien movie for 20th Century Studios, though it's unclear if it's connected to the Alien: Romulus follow-up or a standalone project. Tom Cruise is in early talks with Paramount for a Days of Thunder sequel, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Tom Holland appeared on the Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and with a drum roll announced that Spider-Man 4 officially begins shooting next summer. This information is coupled with an announcement from Sony that the release date is July 24, 2026. 20th Century Studios President Steve Asbell sat down with The Hollywood Reporter recently to discuss the future of their filmmaking division under Disney. Asbell seemed to Mirror other disney subsidiaries with it’s assurance that a focus on franchise films is the path of the future. They will likely continue franchises such as Avatar, the Alien-verse, and Planet of the Apes, plus Kenneth Branagh’s Agatha Christie mystery adaptations will continue though it’s not clear if Branagh is attached. Among other films discussed were a Master and Commander prequel, Something with Die Hard, the next Predator movie (two are coming out and one is a secret), and the possibility of a Speed 3.  Writer Steven Knight has left the Rey Star Wars movie. Knight replaced the original screenwriters just last March, but this looks to be another delay to the development of the film. Notably Knight has been busy, working on the screenplays for the Peaky Blinders feature film, an upcoming biopic starring Angelina Jolie, and several tv series. Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy is still slated to direct the future Rey movie. Venom: The Last Dance stumbled a bit in its choreography during last week’s release in the U.S. with a $51 million dollar opening, but danced to success globally for a total $175 million including $46 million in China, which is the best superhero movie opening in that country since 2019. Sony is pleased with these numbers and well they should be, as the movie did take the top spot over Smile 2, which fell 59 percent. Universal’s Oscar baby Conclave opened to $6.5 million, which tied it with The Wild Robot’s fifth weekend’s earnings. And the Andrew Garfield/Florence Pugh romantic drama We Live in Time came in fifth with $4.8 million. While promoting Robert Zemeckis’ film Here, Paul Bettany confirmed that production begins on the Vision series in 2025. Chris Hemsworth is in talks to star in Disney's upcoming Prince Charming movie with Paul King attached to direct. AppleTV+ has unveiled a new trailer for Severance season 2. Severance will premiere on the streamer on Jan. 17, 2025, followed by an episode every Friday through March 21 for a 10 episode season. Ahead of its season 6 debut in December, drama series Virgin River has been renewed for a seventh season at Netflix. With the early renewal, Virgin River becomes Netflix’s longest-running current original scripted series. An action comedy film adaptation of retro video game Oregon Trail is in early development at Apple. Will Speck and Josh Gordon are attached to direct and produce. EGOT winners Benj Pasek and Justin Paul will provide original music and produce via their Ampersand production banner. Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that the movie will feature a couple of original musical numbers Michael Cera, William H. Macy, and Emilia Jones have joined the cast of Paramount's The Running Man. Netflix has renewed its animated series Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft for a second season. The pickup was a relatively quick one, coming just two weeks after the eight-episode first season premiered. First images have surfaced from Spider-Noir, the Amazon series that will star Nicolas Cage in the title role. Sources tell Deadline that a new English-language Squid Game series is in the works at Netflix, with David Fincher coming on to develop it. Sony Pictures announced that Jumanji 3 is set to hit theaters Dec. 11, 2026. Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black and Karen Gillan starred in the first two films and are expected to return, as is director Jake Kasdan, who helmed both features.
