In today’s episode of the Tranquil Awakenings Podcast, Debbie will be in conversation with Jean Westgarth, a soul midwife who helps individuals who are at the end of their life to make their transition peacefully. Through providing an open space for healing and discussion, Jean combines her expertise as a nurse with complementary therapies and practices such as gentle touch, sound, deep listening, and energy work, to support individuals, and their families, come to terms with end-of-life experiences. KEY TAKEAWAYSSoul midwives are holistic, non-denominational practitioners who help individuals who are coming to the end of their life. Having a spiritual or religious belief system can help individuals come to terms with the end of their life. Soul midwifery is a bridge between clinical and holistic care.Having conversations about death and dying is important to help an individual transition from this life, as well as guiding loved ones to understand the dying persons wishes.Essential oils, deep conversations, sound, and touch can all assist with coming to the end of life.  BEST MOMENTS“ I will absolutely meet somebody where they are. You know, if they have a religious belief or a spiritual belief or nothing, it's just meeting that person where they are.” ”I always believed, when my own father died, I just always knew when he was around me and I just felt there was something more.” ”It's just exploring and demystifying, exploring death and dying. Ideally, we can pick somebody up at palliation or old age. It gives you the time to work with that. We call them friends. They're not patients or clients. We call them friends because the friendship and the trust builds up over time.” ”You can't fix it, you can't make it better. You can just be with that person and be comfortable enough to sit with their acceptance and their challenges and how they are, and just calmly, be present and reassuring with them.”“ You know, you get earth withdrawing generally, and I mean that for in general old ages about slips, trips, and falls, the water. As that withdraws, they become more emotional. Let's say with Earth they're less grounded, so they need that, that emotional reassurance. They need somebody around them and just what oils actually help all those transitions. And understanding fire, you know, fire stages towards the last two, three days or maybe just few hours when you tend to get that agitation etc.” ”Because like every birth of a new soul, every labour is different and every dying experience is different.” Hosted on Acast. In today’s episode of the Tranquil Awakenings Podcast, Debbie will be in conversation with Sophie Morrison, who after having unusual and paranormal experiences throughout her life went on a journey of self-discovery, studying reiki and spiritual development. As part of this journey, she began to look at research in this area. One area of fascination was that of remote energy healing, something that she is now studying as part of her PhD. Sophie’s website is: www.sophiemorrison.com KEY TAKEAWAYSThere are many rigorous scientifically backed studies into well-being, energy healing, and the paranormal.Alternative therapies can complement western medicine.Energy healing does not specifically have to be considered spiritual.Energy healing has taken place in different contexts throughout time in many different cultures.Connection to nature can provide healing and well-being benefits.Healing can bring issues to the surface that you need to deal with in order to live your best life. BEST MOMENTS“ You know, the NHS is a breaking point at the moment with people waiting for appointments. If we could demonstrate the benefits of energy healing and people can access that whilst they're on a waiting list, you know, the implications are huge." ”The overwhelming majority of participants are just so glad I took part.” ”I'm very, very much somebody who's has to be in nature every day or else I get very poorly. I have a dog, so I have to dog walk every day. If I'm in the house, my mental health is on the floor by the end of the day. I have to be near trees, near greens, near hedgerows.” ”They were getting what was in the hedgerows and what was seasonal and what would heal you, you know?” ”You can feel a bit rubbish as the nasty stuff starts to clear out. It can bring up some things that you really have been putting off facing. But all I say is for the greater good, all for your own personal, highest good.” ”Just take 30 minutes a week. Set your timer, make it a commitment, and just relax.” HOST BIODebbie is a seasoned therapist whose journey from being a primary school teacher to an adept therapist has been fuelled by her fascination with the intricacies of human nature. Equipped with advanced certifications in diverse modalities like hypnotherapy, neuro-linguistic programming, mindfulness, meditation, past life regression and many more she has honed her expertise to bring about transformative change. As a full-time therapist and trainer, Debbie's driving passion is guiding others, as well as herself, towards their best selves. In today’s episode of the Tranquil Awakenings Podcast, Debbie will be in conversation with Emily Turnbull who is currently studying End of Life Experiences as part of her PhD research. Emily, who was an interior designer, had the life changing experience of having a Near Death Experience (NDE) during a period of illness. This made her re-evaluate her life, opening up to spirituality and the idea that there might be more to life than what she had previously considered. This has ignited a passion within her to explore these transformative experiences and how this knowledge can be used to help others. KEY TAKEAWAYSHaving a spiritually awakening experience can alter the way that you view the world.People who are at the end of their life can experience spiritually transformative encounters which may benefit themselves and their loved ones. Near Death experiences can provide a sense of clarity and connection.Near Death and End of Life Experiences can alleviate the fear of dying. There is an increasing body of research that explores End of Life and Near Death Experiences.  BEST MOMENTS“I was on a very different path. I didn't really have any particular interest in, or even knowledge on unusual experiences around death. I didn't have any interest in religious ideas or spiritual ideas. I was just really living quite, I suppose, a reductionist life.”“ I had been ill. I knew it was pretty serious. I knew something was really badly wrong.” ”And as I came out of my body, all of the feelings of being ill completely vanished. And I started to feel some kind of whole-body euphoria or some kind of, I just felt fantastic.”“ Normal reality was like a fog. And I'd started to feel like everything made sense. There was a real clarity, and I understood why humans existed, I understood everything.”“I think it's the whole huge expansion of this clarity and sort of the huge feeling of awe and outstanding love and feeling like your whole body is, every atom is full of love. And so it's all about that and it's a real clarity, we understand what everything is all about.”“ I love things like this because it’s quite mind blowing really when you start to look into these areas.”“When I did my research with the participants they said very similar things, that it seemed like maybe the people who were living were part of a soul family or something that were there to help guide them back onto their path, and also, it made us think about ideas like maybe we are multi-dimensional beings.” ”The question was asked ‘How would you describe dying?’ And somebody said, ‘Oh, I'd say it's death is waking up’”. HOST BIODebbie is a seasoned therapist whose journey from being a primary school teacher to an adept therapist has been fuelled by her fascination with the intricacies of human nature. In today’s episode of the Tranquil Awakenings Podcast, Debbie will be in conversation with Kerry Ann, a Closing of the Bones Practitioner who uses hands-on body work and rebozo massage to focus on women’s healing and well-being. In this episode Kerry discusses how it is important to support women through healing trauma and through life transitions such as giving birth. During this conversation Debbie and Kerry share their birthing experiences, talking about the importance of connecting with our bodies and having a community for support.  KEY TAKEAWAYSIt is important to have support through times of transition in our lives. More support is required for individuals who have suffered birth trauma. In other cultures, more care and support is given post-childbirth.We hold trauma in different parts of the body.Alternative therapies can help to support individuals during life transitions.Community is important for healing and well-being.   BEST MOMENTS“ After I had my babies, I was called to do something with postpartum care because that's my wounded healer.” ”So, in China, you're supposed to lay down, aren't you? For 40 days? You're supposed to be looked after for 40 days and in China, they stay in their mother or their mother-in-law's house and get fed and watered and looked after, right? And the whole idea of being in somebody else's house is so that you don't see your own mess.”“ I think because my, when I first became a mother, I was just on my own.  I felt like I needed mothering. And so, from that then I feel like I want to do that for other people, in their time of need, whether it be postpartum or whether it be in a transition or after some kind of trauma.” ”But martyrdoms a real thing, you know, crack on. And the women put themselves to the bottom of the pile. And that's societal as well as learnt from the family.”“ If we all live together how we should in community, then we'd be looking after each other's babies. We would be feeding each other, you know, we would all be helping each other. So the weight would be less. We wouldn't be holding all, or we wouldn't be holding the whole family on our own shoulders.” HOST BIODebbie is a seasoned therapist whose journey from being a primary school teacher to an adept therapist has been fuelled by her fascination with the intricacies of human nature. In today’s episode of the Tranquil Awakenings Podcast, Debbie will be in conversation with Cathy Williams, who specialises in movement and expressive art therapy.  Cathy was first introduced to movement and art therapy as a therapeutic practice after she began to struggle with the responsibilities that came with her role as a community development practitioner. Recognising the benefits she encountered through this healing process she trained to help others. Cathy believes that the body is a resource and when we connect into our bodies using awareness practices and movement, we can allow our feelings to be heard and expressed, which leads to an increase in resilience and confidence.  KEY TAKEAWAYSThrough connecting with our bodies, we can better understand our feelings and needs. It is important to take care of our body. Our bodies can indicate to us when something is imbalanced within our lives. It is important to follow your intuition. We have the power to change our thoughts and feelings. BEST MOMENTS“ I guess that we as practitioners recognise our own healing journey and our continuous healing journey and desire to always be, I guess, self-improving or knowing different ways to be in touch with ourselves.”“ Throughout my studies and my time working in different projects, I was living incredibly my mind space and was kind of, yeah, treating my body as a bit of a vessel to go from A to B and wasn't understanding the stress that I was feeling from these different experiences and from this level of responsibility.”“ I wasn't able to recognize or verbalize what I was actually feeling, but I could feel that there was tension in my body.” ”So, I had these amazing years where I was moving through my own feelings of loss and despair and confusion and anxiety. Using these techniques, I felt like that was really supportive of the big changes and shifts. I feel like it made me more adaptable and realize that the path that I was essentially creating for myself, because there was no blueprint, was led by my intuition and a feeling that felt really good.”“I'm becoming less reliant on old coping mechanisms of needing to, I guess, suppress emotions and numb or dismiss feelings and question myself. I think because I've started that dialogue with self and I continually show up to that practice of checking in with my body and feeling my feelings.” HOST BIODebbie is a seasoned therapist whose journey from being a primary school teacher to an adept therapist has been fuelled by her fascination with the intricacies of human nature. In today’s episode of the Tranquil Awakenings Podcast, Debbie will be in conversation with Andy Steele, an ex-paratrooper and fire fighter who turned to EFT and hypnosis to help him with PTSD.  In this emotion evoking podcast, which may be triggering for some, Andy shares incidents of childhood suffering and traumatic experiences from his professional roles that led to his personal struggles. Andy, through is personal journey, however, shares a message of hope, showing how through facing up to these traumas and getting the right support, his life was transformed. Andy is now a practitioner who helps to share the positive message that help is out there.   KEY TAKEAWAYSHealing can be a scary process to embark upon but very rewarding when you make positive progress.Adverse childhood experiences can impact health and well-being if left unhealed. We sometimes need to visit the past to be able to heal it.We can change the way we feel through changing our thoughts. The body and mind are connected.Meditation can help to quieten the mind.Complementary therapies such as hypnotherapy and EFT can assist with PTSD. BEST MOMENTS“I was desperate Debbie to try anything to get well. As poorly as I was, there was still a little light inside that could remember what it felt like to be well.” ”That's why it's important for me to get my message out there that it is completely possible to recover from and heal from PTSD.”“ In the main, my support mechanism were non-medics, they were all complementary and alternative therapists.”“ I was just really scared Debbie, I just felt like this volcano of emotions under the skin, that if anybody touched it, it was just going to explode and it just wouldn't stop, there'd just be a forever flow of molten lava.”“ It was like the universe kind of says, okay, and you might not know this stuff, but I'm going to put people in your way that do know this stuff. And I felt safe with them. And that's the biggie. When you think about trauma itself, any trauma, ultimately your body's response is because it doesn't feel safe so you've got to feel safe with your practitioner who you're working with.”"I think recovery isn't like walking through rainbows. You've got to be brave. You have got to visit the dark shadows to put them at ease and peace because if you don't they're forever there in a little box somewhere waiting to bite you up the arse really." ”We can change the way we feel. It takes work, it takes courage, but it's absolutely possible.”Trigger warning: Some listeners may find elements of this episode distressing. Conscious Uncoupling with Debbie and Peter IsonIn today’s episode of the Tranquil Awakenings Podcast, Debbie will be in conversation with Pete as they share their journey of ending their relationship of 19 years. In this deeply personal podcast, Debbie and Pete talk about this process and how they are working to focus on kindness, friendship, and therapeutic healing. Whilst recognising that they each have a different perspective on their relationship transition, they are working to be mindful of how each other is doing, positive communication, and acknowledging all feelings are valid. KEY TAKEAWAYSIt is important to take time for self-care.When a relationship comes to an end, a grieving process takes place. Our response to a situation can make a difference as to how we feel about ourselves and others. When a relationship ends, it can also have an impact on others within families and social circles. It is important to be congruent with yourself and compassionately express your truth. There is the possibility for relationship endings to transition smoothly.Self-awareness is beneficial for navigating relationship endings. BEST MOMENTS” I think it's easy for anyone to forget that we change and evolve all the time. And just because once you tried to broach a subject with someone and didn't get the response that you were hoping for, it doesn't mean that that subject's always off the table.””This is why I'm always a big advocate of that it's really important to have therapy. It should be something we do just in the same way as we go to the gym, or we have a healthy diet, or we go to the doctors when we need, we should be doing that self-care.””Because it's genuinely, for the large part, this is a positive experience. It's really bizarre now that that doesn't mean that I loved you any less or you know, it doesn't take anything away from the importance, the magnitude of our relationship. It was huge and I'm so grateful for the 19 years that I've been blessed with. And you know, there's clearly more years to come because we've got the children and we'll be in each other's lives."“ And as much as emotionally, this felt horrible. Mentally, it felt like my head was a complete mess. That intuitive feeling felt like, yes, this is the right thing.””The only feeling I could ever compare it to was my dad dying.””I've turned to meditating morning and night. I'm journaling. I'm exercising here and there. I'm being kind to myself. I've modified my self-talk. I'm focusing on being kind to you and considerate.”“We can't necessarily control those situations or the external events, but what we can control is how we choose to act and respond.”“ It's a massive thing. Like I say, I've been with you all my life, so I'm trying to figure out who am as me.”“ You know, ultimately that's a large part of what's got me through as well, is just knowing that I'm always in the right place at the right time.” HOST BIODebbie is a seasoned therapist whose journey from being a primary school teacher to an adept therapist has been fuelled by her fascination with the intricacies of human nature. In today’s episode of the Tranquil Awakenings Podcast, Debbie will be in conversation with Amy who helps to run community projects supporting women who are fleeing from domestic abuse by supporting them with holistic treatments and group sessions to improve their wellbeing and self-worth. During this conversation, Amy highlights the importance of having a safe place to go to as changes to relationships, environments, and belief systems are made, acknowledging that this can take time. However, by working through these issues, Amy wishes to highlight that a better life is possible.   KEY TAKEAWAYSMaking sure that physical needs such as getting enough sleep and relaxation can be really important when making changes in your life.Support groups can be a safe space to explore healthy relationships and connections. It is important to be able to talk and safely express emotions. You deserve to feel safe. Our core attachments growing up can influence how we act and react in our adult relationships. When we can separate our behaviours from who we are as a person, it can help us to heal and grow.  BEST MOMENTS“ I think if people feel like they can speak up about how they're feeling, it goes a long way because it can be very disempowering as a person to have to hold everything in.” ”That's the general message is you do deserve to relax. You do deserve to take time out for yourself, and you do deserve to be heard. And eventually, hopefully, you are safe. You can be safe.”“ So understanding that what's seen on the surface isn't always reflective of someone's efforts. So sometimes we need to look deeper to be supportive.” ”What are the reasons when people go back to living independently that lead them to find someone like that again? Like, are we teaching enough personal boundaries? Are they integrated in the community enough?”“I think more often than not, there is actually, you know, an unhealthy relationship dynamic coming from the core attachment growing up, because we learn our boundaries from that caregiver.”“That's kind of like always a theme I think when you're trying to offer support or even education, people have got to want to be ready, you know, to receive the help.” HOST BIODebbie is a seasoned therapist whose journey from being a primary school teacher to an adept therapist has been fuelled by her fascination with the intricacies of human nature. In today’s episode of the Tranquil Awakenings Podcast, Debbie will be in conversation with Diane Arkenstone who has her own recording company and writes healing ambient meditative music. Diane discovered the healing potential of music after recognising that due to a heart condition she would be unable to pursue a career as an athlete. She found the music had a relaxing and healing impact on her, her pacemakers eventually being turned off, something which she attributes to the power of music, visualisation, and meditation. Diane has now produced many albums with the desire to support others.  KEY TAKEAWAYSEverything is energy.Connection to nature is important.Music has healing properties and can help us connect to a sense of well-being.Connecting to the earth and grounding is good for well-being. We are all energy and like attracts like.We can change our life by changing our attitude. The arts can bring people together. BEST MOMENTS“ I had a heart condition I was born with and didn't realize that. When I trained to run, I couldn't keep up with everybody else and my heart would hurt as a kid. And then went through a lot of, big heart surgeries and used music. So, I turned to music because it didn't feel as strenuous on the body.” ”I thought, I know somehow I can get through this, and I would hold that guitar close to my body, and feel that vibration, that energy in it, and kept visualizing and meditating that this would be healed.”“ I wanted to mention too with nature is when I get up in the morning, I look out the window and what I see kind of tells you how the day is. So, I love reading signs and symbolisms and things like that.”“ You can put it all together like the Native American Indians used to do. And they would, they could smell the air, they could smell the earth, they could feel that breeze. And those are things that we've lost and they're so important.” ”Clearing your mind for a few minutes and just let the earth or let Spirit just tell you, guide you how things will be, how things are.” ”I wake up with symphonies and music in my head constantly.”“ But we had a lamb and a raccoon and a deer and a German shepherd, and a ferret and an alligator and an African lion all in the house at once. And nobody ate anybody else.” HOST BIODebbie is a seasoned therapist whose journey from being a primary school teacher to an adept therapist has been fuelled by her fascination with the intricacies of human nature. In today’s episode of the Tranquil Awakenings Podcast, Debbie will be in conversation with Em Wilks who uses Hypnotherapy, Coaching, Reiki and Quantum Holographic Echo Healing (QHEH) to work with highly sensitive individuals. During this conversation, Emma shares how as a highly sensitive person she has often struggled with the harshness of the world around her, choosing instead to focus on kindness. Through the discoveries she has made on her own therapeutic journey, she is now on a mission to help others. KEY TAKEAWAYSGiving and receiving kindness is beneficial for well-being.Receiving nurture is important for personal growth.By embracing our feelings, we can learn and grow from them.We are all made of energy, and our energies are connected.Therapies such as QHEH can help the individual to overcome obstacles that are holding them back from being their best selves. BEST MOMENTS“ I remember you Debbie and you was just so inspiring, such an inspiring mentor and teacher and you just had this amazing way of making me feel so safe in your presence.”“ I think that that kindness is something that just empowers me and I want to help empower other people as well.”“Obviously, we need to learn all the basic skills, but we also need to be nurtured as a person. And I feel that my gift is kindness.”“ I'm a very emotional person, a very emotional adult, but we're often told that, Oh, you're too sensitive. You're too emotional. Harden up.”“I’ve been on a journey myself and I've struggled with imposter syndrome, and I've sort of hid behind the societal norms of having to have a job to earn money.”“Highly sensitive people are often people pleasers, and there's usually a reason for that. So, I explore the reason why and empower the highly sensitive person to change those for the better and empower their sensitivity for them.””I mainly work with the subconscious mind as well because obviously our beliefs are stored within and we don't always know what they are and it's about bringing it to the surface.””We are put onto this earth to be our best selves and to enjoy the best of life and to have abundance and happiness.”HOST BIODebbie is a seasoned therapist whose journey from being a primary school teacher to an adept therapist has been fuelled by her fascination with the intricacies of human nature. He now uses the experiences he has acquired in teaching others, and the skills his has developed working within the charitable sector, to help others make consistently positive small decisions to help them achieve their bigger goals.  KEY TAKEAWAYSOutside influence can help us to change our mindset.Coaching can help you to focus on your goalsIt is important to find the right coaching style for you. A coach can help to hold you accountable in achieving your dreams.Talking to someone impartial can put an individual’s mind at rest and give an outside perspective. You are influenced by the people who you spend the most time with.By making consistently positive small choices you can achieve your bigger goal. BEST MOMENTS“ I find people so interesting that I want to talk to lots of different people.” "There's an old saying, there's only two things that will ever change you, the people that you meet and the books that you read.”"You know from her perspective, it's an hour which is completely dedicated to her where she's not going to be judged, where she could tell me absolutely anything and she's not going to bump into me in the street or I'm not going to see her at a family wedding and then let something out when I've had too much to drink.” "Instead of using work life balance, I use work rest and play.”“ I'm not a big believer in luck if I'm honest, because I don't think you're lucky to be where you are. I think it works hard to get where you are.” "So you tell the universe so that the universe understands that that's what you're trying to achieve.” "You become the average of the five people you spend the most time with.”“ The big choices are all made up of lots of tiny choices. Get into the habit of making really good tiny choices.” HOST BIODebbie is a seasoned therapist whose journey from being a primary school teacher to an adept therapist has been fuelled by her fascination with the intricacies of human nature. In today’s episode of the Tranquil Awakenings Podcast, Debbie will be in conversation with Alison Cooper-Moore who is a spiritual medium and psychic. During this podcast Alison talks about how she had an awareness of spirit since being a young child, however, she quickly learnt from her parents’ reactions that it was not something that was acceptable to discuss. As an adult however, she returned to these gifts, working hard to develop them to become an integral part of her life.  Alison now works with others to help them develop their psychic and mediumship abilities as well as giving readings. KEY TAKEAWAYSYounger children often have an awareness of spirit. We tend to shut off our spiritual gifts from a young age due to other people’s belief systems.Different people perceive spiritual messages in different ways such as visions, smells, hearing and knowing. It takes patience and practice to develop spiritual abilities. There are various methods of developing psychic and spiritual abilities, so it is important to take your time to explore what is right for you. When people pass away, they are often greeted by loved ones from the spiritual realm. BEST MOMENTS“ I've always known I can see spirits but I just assumed that everybody else could as well. So, when I was younger, people would be in my house, people would move things and it was just, Oh, I'll put it back. I didn't think anything of it.” ”I remember once going to see a medium and she did my palm and she said, you could do this, you know, and I thought, yeah, they tell that to everybody.” ”We knew she was in there. We knew she was bothering the dog. We knew that she was touching things, but I thought, well, it's okay. She's fine. She's not causing any trouble. And then one night, she really shoved my shoulder hard. I reasoned in my head, maybe it isn't that, maybe it was just a muscle spasm.”“ My mum was dying and I held my mum's hand, I said, Mum, show me who's with you, and I could see everybody that was waiting for her.” ”I was speaking to my nana when I was about nine. I spoke to my mum and said, I've been speaking to Nana. Mum cried, Dad got angry, shouted a lot. I thought, oh, we don't speak about this kind of thing then. So I didn't speak about it again.”HOST BIODebbie is a seasoned therapist whose journey from being a primary school teacher to an adept therapist has been fuelled by her fascination with the intricacies of human nature. In today’s episode of the Tranquil Awakenings Podcast, Debbie will be in conversation with Vandana who supports individuals with their health and well-being through the use of the Human Regenerator, a machine that uses cold atmospheric plasma technology. During this episode, Vandana shares her personal family journey of how her and her husband became aware of the Human Regenerator when supporting her mother-in-law with her cancer diagnosis. Upon using this machine, Vandana’s mother-in-law benefitted greatly, which inspired them to invest in a machine of their own, bringing it to Lincolnshire to support others with pain and health issues, as well as for those who want their body to be the best it can be. KEY TAKEAWAYSThe cells in our body become less effective over time. Antioxidants help the body to reduce inflammation. When suffering from physical ailments, it can also impact mental well-being.The body needs good nutrition, exercise, and a healthy mindset to help it perform at its best. The Human Regenerator helps to reduce oxidative stress. BEST MOMENTS“The summer before last, my mother-in-law, she was diagnosed with palliative cancer and she was already sort of previously recovering from an operation and radio and chemotherapy. So, the state that she was in was quite fragile. She's really low on energy, she was getting really tired, and we just were kind of in a place where we thought we need something to sort of support her, just to give her a bit of a boost.”“But then after her second session, the next day, we asked her, mum, you know, how are you, how are you feeling? And she said she felt good. She got off the Human Regenerator and she had a bit of a light on her face, and she felt good. And we did over 20, 000 steps around central London, which was something that she hadn't done in a very long time before.”“That's when we decided, you know, we'll get one here up in Lincoln and try and help more people and also support mum as much as we can, just to give her the quality of life that she could have with her limitations. And yeah, that's kind of how our journey started.”“They're just happier in themselves and they don't have that kind of the pain or the struggle in the back of their mind and they're able to do more than they think they could have done.” ”And then having the human regenerator on top of that. It's just been a game changer. I feel good. I don't feel tired after a really long day of work, and I don't feel low on my energy or touch would not been poorly for quite some time. So, I think it works as a really good compliment to a great lifestyle.” HOST BIODebbie is a seasoned therapist whose journey from being a primary school teacher to an adept therapist has been fuelled by her fascination with the intricacies of human nature. In today’s episode of the Tranquil Awakenings Podcast, Debbie will be in conversation with Maddie Kleinhofs a Rapid Transformational Therapy (RTT) Practitioner, who works with individuals and groups to help them create the changes they desire.  After suffering from neurological issues, Maddie went through a spiritual awakening experience, recognising that there is more to the world than meets the eye. From this experience Maddie felt a change in her life path, deciding to retrain in RTT which uses a combination of hypnotherapy, CBT, psychotherapy and NLP techniques to help clients get to the root of their problem. During this conversation Debbie and Maddie share their enthusiasm for the work that they do and the techniques that they use. KEY TAKEAWAYSThe mind can be used as a powerful tool to help us overcome obstacles and achieve things that we never thought possible.Lots of individuals who have a spiritual awakening experience often felt different or isolated growing up.Guides and other types of beings can come in to support us on our spiritual path. After having a spiritual awakening experience our perceptions and beliefs can be profoundly altered, guiding us to live life in a different way.We carry limiting beliefs from our past which can impact our lives in the present. Therapy needs to be personalised for each individual client’s needs. BEST MOMENTS  “ I did struggle quite a bit as a teenager. I was a bit of a wild child. So, lots of deep internal disconnection going on there. Lots of loneliness, feeling different, feeling like I was on the outside, like I couldn't connect. So that was the start of my journey.” ”And I just, my consciousness was just literally pulled straight out of my, my body. And I was just moving so fast. Like the speed of light, straight down a tunnel. I would call it a wormhole actually, because I'm big into sci fi. Amazing! So I'm speeding through this wormhole. And eventually, I've no idea how much time passed, but eventually I just popped out somewhere else.”“ But I was just so comfortable because there was no, there was no sadness, there was no fear, there was no pain, no pain at all.”“ I knew that it was a place that I had been, that it was more real of an experience than this is. Yes. This is the dream. Yeah. If anything, this is definitely the dream in my opinion.”“ It was just so fascinating learning about how the mind works, the subconscious, all of those belief systems that we create for ourselves that then are controlling our lives now and we're not even aware of them most of the time.”  ”Obviously there is flexibility in that because you need to tailor to each individual person, each individual client is going to be different.”“ I would say remember That you are important and it's important for you to take time to nurture that in yourself. Take time for rest, take time for yourself, do the things that light you up, that make you feel good.” HOST BIODebbie is a seasoned therapist whose journey from being a primary school teacher to an adept therapist has been fuelled by her fascination with the intricacies of human nature. In today’s episode of the Tranquil Awakenings Podcast, Debbie will be in conversation with Klare Bailey, who after fleeing domestic abuse, began a journey of intense study, to understand how the trauma had impacted her body and mind. Through this journey a passion within her grew to help women who had fled domestic abuse situations. Klare who is a trained counsellor, coach, and eye movement therapist, now works with women to help them learn how to value themselves through supporting them to change the negative voice within their mind, something which Klare notes has often come from their abuser or upbringing, with the aim of helping each client develop their self-esteem and confidence. KEY TAKEAWAYSAfter experiencing situations of trauma, the body and mind can go into overdrive.Patterns of abuse or toxic relationships often begin in childhood. Our identities are shaped by the experiences we have had.It is important to challenge your limiting thoughts and beliefs about yourself.Looking for the glimmers, the tiny magical moments in everyday life can support well-being.If you are in an abusive relationship, it is important to seek help and support.Finding time for rest and relaxation is an important element of recovery. BEST MOMENTS “So essentially what happened was, approximately 13 years ago, I had to do a runner from a relationship that was abusive, highly, highly toxic, involved women's aid, police, solicitors, lots of stuff. I had the most amazing support. However, what I found was that once I'd got out and the dust had settled, all the help disappeared. And I was kind of left in this state of being absolutely shell shocked.”“I was like, you know what, I cannot live my life like this. I have to sort this out myself. So, I started on this epic journey, fascinating, epic, real hyper focus of studying trauma, the impact of trauma, what happens in the brain, what happens in the body, everything to do with it because I needed to understand why my body was behaving that way, why my brain was behaving that way. I had to find my own route to get better.”. ”So it was a personal journey that gave me this fire and determination, passion to say, no, we're not tolerating this anymore. There has to be a better way.” ”When we actually look at what happens in the brain and we've got these neural pathways that, and I always think they're a little bit like if you're building a road system, you know, you start off with the kind of baby neural pathway and it's essentially like a little bit of a footpath going through the and then if you go over it enough times, it becomes a more definite pathway.”“ And I always think it's a little bit like, you know, when you're rolling a snowball, it takes a while to get it going, but my golly, you know, once, once they get going, it's amazing.” ”Just that you're worth it. You are absolutely worth it. And I know it's hard, but I promise you the work is worth putting in.” HOST BIODebbie is a seasoned therapist whose journey from being a primary school teacher to an adept therapist has been fuelled by her fascination with the intricacies of human nature. In today’s episode of the Tranquil Awakenings Podcast, Debbie will be in conversation with Dr Matthew Hopkins, a highly qualified scientist with a passion for understanding the workings of the Universe.  During their conversation Matthew demonstrates various scientific concepts, explaining why some of these may contribute to our understanding paranormal experiences, something which Matthew has had numerous encounters with, Matthew sharing these experiences with the audience. KEY TAKEAWAYSScientific concepts can assist in explaining paranormal experiences. Science, at its best, should be open to exploring possibilities. Having an understanding of energy can help us to understand how the universe works.Paranormal experiences are encountered more frequently than we realise. Our intentions have an impact on our reality. If working with magic, we should do so in a way that is positive and protective of ourselves and others. BEST MOMENTS“Certainly, it's part of my fundamental ethos, I suppose, and philosophy of science. That to be a good scientist, one has to be open minded and explore the possibilities of an infinite number of possibilities.”“But then our keyword nature, if we're going to take the full foundations of nature, that should accommodate paranormal beliefs and paranormal phenomena.”“They should read some of the stuff in quantum mechanics and cosmology, which is far more bizarre than the paranormal stuff. Far more bizarre, Debbie. And these things are observable, observable things that we can talk of.”“I'm interested in, with respect to paranormal beliefs, i.e. manifestations, ghosts, etc., a lot of cosmological models, and to be fair, quantum mechanical models can explain that phenomena as it were. So that's why I'm interested in cosmology, and I'm interested in a lot of these weird things that exist out there.”“Hence, how we can explain the existence of ghosts using that mechanism. We could argue that when you see these phantoms, if you like, or these demons, what you're actually seeing is, you're seeing them in their natural state.”“And as we know, black holes suck things into infinite density. The white holes conversely spit things out from infinite density, so they're completely inverse.” "Basically my father died when I was eight and in somewhat tragic circumstances, medical neglect, basically. And I remember my mother took a picture of a television in our room, in our lounge, where my father was physically in our television and this television was off. It was unplugged from the walls. You can't explain that through photoelectric effects or anything like that.”“ I had a dark figure follow me around for a long, long time. A very long time. It only went a couple of years ago. And then other paranormal experiences I've had of hearing voices, as it were.”“Debbie, I've strayed so far from my path, I can't remember the way back.”HOST BIODebbie is a seasoned therapist whose journey from being a primary school teacher to an adept therapist has been fuelled by her fascination with the intricacies of human nature. In today’s episode of the Tranquil Awakenings Podcast, Debbie will be in conversation with Kev Bailey, a holistic healer that specialises in emotional health.  Through the use of kinesiology, shamanic healing techniques and crystalline energy therapies, Kev works with each client to help them uncover what is holding them back and bring balance to their lives, whether that be through soul retrieval, entity release, or through confrontation and forgiveness. During this podcast Kev shares his journey of coming to terms with the relationship he had with his dad and how this sparked his exploration of healing modalities. Kev also shares some of his previous lives that have been explored both within this reality and other dimensions. KEY TAKEAWAYSHealing and spiritual exploration are available for individuals from all backgrounds.People come into our lives to provide us with lessons or to help us grow. Alternative healing modalities can help to release past traumas. Through shamanic techniques individuals can be taken on a journey to access and heal what is holding them back.We plan our key life lessons before we incarnate.Things that have ben programmed into our subconscious mind can have an impact on different areas of our life.  BEST MOMENTS“ So my kind of life history, I got bullied at school in the UK. I went to South Africa, and I got bullied at school there. And then when we came back, my father enrolled me in an all-boys school in Plymouth and I thought I ain't gonna get bullied here, so I became the school nutter.” "I read Lorna Byrne's Angels in Your Hair, and I asked my ex-wife to go and get me it. She thought I'd fallen down the stairs and banged me head, but it had quite a profound effect on me.” "And then shamanically, I take them through a journey to go and visit these people, take their power back from them. They get to say to them whatever it is they really wanted to say” "I believe in the soul contract and that they signed up to experience whatever it is they've gone through. They've just forgotten about it and these people are actually coming in to help them to learn their lessons.”“ I had one lady come to see me and it was near enough like a scene out The Exorcist, only her head didn't spin 360. So, yeah, so it keeps me on my toes.” "When you're sat upstairs just before you're about to incarnate, and you're sitting there with your team, your guides, and your guardian angels, and you write your story, you star in your film, and you get the T-shirt.” "It may be something simple, like somebody said something to him as a child, but it's stuck in their head that they're thick or they're stupid or they're ugly or whatever it might be, and they've carried that forward into adulthood.”“ They jailed part of my soul in this other dimension apparently as punishment, and so she bought it back.” HOST BIODebbie is a seasoned therapist whose journey from being a primary school teacher to an adept therapist has been fuelled by her fascination with the intricacies of human nature. In today’s episode of the Tranquil Awakenings Podcast, Debbie will be in conversation with Naomi Hardy, who is a yoga practitioner and Integral Eye Movement Therapist. Initially Naomi participated in yoga practice to benefit her body, however, she quickly discovered that it helped her to get through the day. After suffering from depression, Naomi found that her practice not only lifted her mood, but the mantras she said to herself began to change her way of thinking, helping her to learn how to love herself more. After a period of illness, Naomi recognised she needed to make dramatic changes in her life, leaving behind what she had known, embarking on a trip to Thailand to become a yoga practitioner and setting up her therapy business.  KEY TAKEAWAYSYoga can benefit the mind as well as the body.Guided meditations can help to bring the mind into the present moment.Saying mantras to ourselves can help to boost confidence and well-being. Everything starts with the breath.Listening to our internal voice, as opposed to external opinions, can assist us in connecting to our own wants and needs.Small, consistent steps of progress can lead to big positive change.Integral Eye Movement Therapy can assist with changing unhelpful and traumatic memories.  BEST MOMENTS“When I say meditation, it's not meditation. A lot of people think when we think meditation, we have to sit in a spot, still, quiet our minds for hours on end. And that's not what meditation is to me.”“Yeah, it was astonishing when I learned that because I didn't expect it. It's quite exciting. But yes, the breath always comes first with yoga and meditation.”“I think even if you just turn up on the mat, not do anything, you just lay on the mat, then you've done yoga for the day.”“During lockdown I realised that I was really, really depressed. It wasn't until that point I actually noticed I had been feeling this way for about five years beforehand, so my yoga was so, so important. It was pretty much a lifeline because I was not doing anything else with my day.”“I was sat in a cafe, Stokes, in Lincoln, on a really sunny day. I had this cake that was absolutely delicious. And I'd just bought a book, and I was reading by myself, just eating cake by myself, and I was like, wow, there's something here in me that's never happened before. I think I'm happy.”“So I had to run home and write that in my diary that I made it. And that was the first day I actually wrote that I love myself. That came out of nowhere as well.”“That day that I decided I love myself, I was like, I've got to give this to other people.”“Go the soft, smooth direction that you're meant to go. Going with the flow is a huge thing that I feel like everybody should think about doing.” HOST BIODebbie is a seasoned therapist whose journey from being a primary school teacher to an adept therapist has been fuelled by her fascination with the intricacies of human nature. In today’s New Year’s episode of the Tranquil Awakenings Podcast, Debbie will be in conversation with her husband Pete as they discuss what they plan to put into place for the year ahead and how they focus their energy through visualisation, manifestation and practical application to turn this into reality.  KEY TAKEAWAYSRoutine and structure can be beneficial for well-being and also achieving goals.Sometimes we need to identify our challenges so that we can then find solutions.Creating a plan can help you to focus your time and energy.Using the five sense to focus on our goals can help increase the desire and commitment to achieving them.Creating a visual representation can help with manifesting. When intention setting, it is important to be positive and specific. When manifesting you also need to apply positive and consistent action. BEST MOMENTS“Typically, I don't do New Year's resolutions, but I suppose I do, in a way, I just maybe don't label them as New Year's resolutions. But I already know exactly what my resolution is for 2025.”“If I get on task, that feels like quite a rare occurrence for me.”“And then listening to everything they were saying about how it helped them and thinking, wow, that's what I need.”“As long as you're in charge of your own routine you'll be fine, you don't like having routine imposed upon you.”“Like an upside-down swan, people normally use the analogy of the swan where they look real calm and serene and floating across the surface. What you can't see is the paddling manically where I've been upside down. So, actually, I've been paddling manically, and you can see that clearly, but I'm just not getting anywhere apart from feeling like I'm drowning.”“I always think for the new year, well, how can I build upon those positives that I've built throughout the previous year. It's always that building and moving forwards.”“I suppose I've finally surrendered to that impatience and just have allowed.”“Well, that helps put a different energy into it, doesn't it? So, it's okay putting your thought energy into it. The electrical impulse in your brain firing off and creating that electrical energy, but you also need to put some kinetic energy in to help it go in the direction that you want it to go in.”“Spend some time over the next few days thinking about what you want for yourself over the next year in different areas of your life. And then what action you're going to take to make that happen.”“Often we're the only things that really hold ourselves back.” HOST BIODebbie is a seasoned therapist whose journey from being a primary school teacher to an adept therapist has been fuelled by her fascination with the intricacies of human nature. In today’s Christmas episode of the Tranquil Awakenings Podcast, Debbie will be in conversation with her husband Pete as they reflect back upon the year, what they have achieved, and what they are grateful for. KEY TAKEAWAYSWe change and evolve throughout our life time.Different people and messages come into our lives when we need them.Change and growth can bring with it both positives and also challenges. We remember and learn in different ways. There are always opportunities to change our path or to put things right. Focussing on what we are grateful for helps us to feel better and supports our minds to create more of those positives.  BEST MOMENTS“I think looking back over the podcasts, I’m so lucky to have so many amazing guests, so many interesting people that want to come on and talk. And I think it's been really interesting for my growth as well. I always learn something new from the podcasts.”“We are always learning and growing and evolving and becoming different people.”“Because I think I started off the year, and it's really hard to look back because this year feels like it's gone in the blink of an eye, it's gone so fast.”“It's not like I spend a lot of time deliberating or thinking on something or planning it out. It's, I mean, whether you're not, you believe that it's my unconscious, subconscious, mind bringing forward what I need to do next, or whether you believe it's guides or the Universe, it seems to just appear.”“And it's been quite fascinating listening to your way of remembering all these different words, because obviously I'm looking at them and I'm like, oh, that's a French word. That's a German word. That's an Italian word, because for whatever reason, I seem to be okay with languages. But you're like, I don't recognise that. I'm going to create some fancy way of remembering.”“So, I would just say, have a think about what you can be grateful for, regardless of what year you've had. What have you learned? How have you grown? What have you achieved?”HOST BIODebbie is a seasoned therapist whose journey from being a primary school teacher to an adept therapist has been fuelled by her fascination with the intricacies of human nature.
