The pandemic necessitated India to embark on one of the world's most extensive vaccination campaigns ever to be undertaken, with 960 million eligible adults in January 2021 to be vaccinated. In this episode, Professors Sarang Deo and Sripad Devalkar share insights on the formal supply chain model they developed in collaboration with the Center for Global Development Europe (CGDE). Their research aimed to devise a cost-effective vaccination campaign design and adopt alternative approaches to optimise the use of limited vaccine quantity and resources. For example: prioritising rural areas with a lower prevalence of COVID after the first wave and before the commencement of the vaccination campaign compared to the urban regions. The model was developed with a team of epidemiologists and health economists.

Professor Sumantra Ghoshal was a gifted teacher, a prolific author and a visionary management guru who was to be ISB’s Founding Dean. It was his infectious energy and enthusiasm that inspired the founding batch of the PGP to become part of the ISB dream. He passed away at the age of 55, in March 2004. In this special episode of #ISBis20, we pay tribute to Sumantra by revisiting the legendary speech he made at the World Economic Forum in Davos. He describes how a company's context, which he called the smell of the place, evokes a very different energy and behaviour in people. And he asks, how do we create inside a company, the vibrant energy of a forest in spring, rather than the energy-draining heat of a suffocating summer?
Episode 3 of the #ISBis20 series presents previously unseen material in the form of a promotional film made in June 1999 by Bill Enco of McKinsey & Company to propose the idea that was to become the Indian School of Business. The film features leading academicians and business leaders, who came together to give shape to this idea, articulating their vision and hopes for the proposed B-school.
