Today, we explore the simple yet fascinating topic of breathwork. Philippa is joined by the wonderful Amy Stein who gives us a detailed introduction into what breathwork really means and how the quality of our breath impacts our lives. Many of us have experienced feeling stuck in life and frustrated by repeated patterns, but few of us understand why this happens or how to stop the cycle. Amy unpacks the transformative power of breath in healing, and freeing ourselves from unhealthy patterns that keep us in a state of functional freeze, unable to move forward. Breath is always available to us, in any moment, regardless of the time or place. It’s not something new that has to be learnt and it’s completely free! Listen along to discover how you can add this powerful tool to your healing toolbox. You can find the previous podcast episode with Amy on the Meeting of Minds podcast HERE More about Amy: In a world where chronic pain and disease can be overwhelming, Amy’s on a mission to empower women to take control of their health and well-being. As a guide and educator, she leverages the wisdom of ancient healing techniques to help women transform into their own best healers. Through tailored support and holistic practices, she assists them in reclaiming their lives from the grip of pain and disease.  Amy’s intention is to discover the root cause of imbalances in your body that show up as chronic pain and disease. Clients come to her with health issues that they have not had results healing elsewhere and Amy helps them to get to the root cause of the problem and put together a plan for how to fix it. Today we have another incredibly insightful guest episode to share with you, where Robbie is in conversation with Katie Whittier. Katie shares her story of being a high achiever, navigating a hectic lifestyle in a new city, with no support system or sleep, until she realised something had to change. Three years into her recovery she was diagnosed with autism, this revelation led her to realign her life to better support herself. Listen along to hear how Katie's journey has unfolded, as she draws from her experiences and research, to help us understand brain function and healing, emphasising the importance of self-compassion. Find out more about Katie below. Info about Katie Whittier: Katie Whittier helps high sensory individuals heal their anxiety, pain or self-doubt by training their nervous system so they can live with the ease and sovereignty they deserve.  She began her career in politics, working on such high-profile campaigns as President Barack Obama’s 2008 race and U.S. Senator Patty Murray’s 2010 re-election. She went on to serve as a communications consultant for several high-visibility organizations until a major mental breakdown changed the course of her life. Three years into her recovery, she was diagnosed with autism, and that’s when her healing journey began in earnest. She developed an intense interest in how the brain and nervous system work, and how neurological differences impact how we experience the world. To that end, she studied applied neurology and used its techniques to process her past traumas, de-weaponize her anxiety and develop the resilience necessary to live free from her old masks. She now coaches others to carve their own healing path so they can leverage their highly sensitive brains to propel their lives toward the abundance and freedom they deserve. This episode marks the middle of Philippa and Robbie’s series about Healing. Healing isn’t a linear path, it’s a winding road with highs and lows, unique to each individual. Some days, it feels like we’re soaring, whilst others feel like a struggle to put one foot in front of the other. In this episode, Philippa and Robbie offer their words of encouragement, reminding us to surrender to the process, staying curious and open minded. Understanding ourselves takes time and we should strive to find joy in the process by trusting our intuition, experimenting with new tools and integrating those that resonate deeply with us. So, to all those navigating their healing journey, keep going. Every step forward, no matter how small, is a victory in itself. Have you ever wondered what draws you to embrace your sensitivity as an HSP? As HSPs, we move through the world differently to others, but as a community of highly sensitive beings we share much in common. Have you ever found yourself struck by a beautiful sunset, unable to look away or perhaps moved to tears by an interaction with another soul? These moments, though deeply moving, can sometimes leave us feeling self-conscious or "different" in public settings, as we glance around to gauge others' reactions, checking to see if anyone else gets it. In this episode Philippa and Robbie discuss many feelings and experiences that are entirely normal for HSPs. They remind us of the invaluable gift it is to be deeply sensitive, allowing us to attune to the energy of the world around us, a capacity that sets us apart from others. In today’s episode recorded at the end of 2023, Philippa and guest Jackie Williamson explore and share their similar journeys working in law and how they had to navigate the ups and downs of working in this sector as highly sensitive people. Jackie is an ex solicitor who helps overwhelmed HSPs raise their vibration and recover their mojo. Jackie shares her personal story of how she moved away from an already established career in law, and carved out a brighter new path for herself, by honouring her highly sensitive powers.  She walks us through her journey from training as a Reiki therapist, moving deeper into personal growth mentoring, and recently pairing her talents and love of energy movement with her forever love of dance, securing her qualification in chakra dancing to help others “get out of their heads and into their body”. Listen along to hear more about: Navigating the workplace as a HSP Signs of burnout (what to look out for, how this can show up in your day to day life, inside and out of work) Effects of burnout if ignored (how does it make you feel? Do you often feel alone and find yourself questioning why, whilst everyone else seems to have it all together...) How to move forwards and make changes that positively impact your life (empowering yourself to use your natural strengths as a HSP, finding new outlets that bring you joy, finding a supportive community and other HSPs to share your experiences of life with) If you ever find yourself experiencing the early stages of burnout - overwhelm, anxiety and exhaustion to name just three - but pushing through these feelings because that’s what you feel you “have” to do, this episode might just be what you need to hear today. When we are looking to make changes in our lives, how do we work out what works for us? In this solo episode Philippa talks about how taking action is a crucial part. In this episode we bring you the gift of Trude Sletteland! Trude is a return guest and, luckily for us, our great friend. We hope you can hear the joy we all experienced recording this conversation about courage. In Trude's words, courage is doing what you don't dare to do. She walks us through how following her big feelings helps her to live a courageous life. If there's something you really want to do, particularly if you're afraid to do it, she encourages us all to do it. The evidence of your ability to do things you don't dare to do, no matter how small those things might seem (and btw, they aren't small), will ripple out to the rest of your life.
