Between the Buried and Me was born from a desire for unrestricted, musical expression. Born out of Oakland's DIY hardcore punk scene, Neurosis emerged as a band driven to defy the conventions of what heavy music could be. Before they discovered how to replicate the sounds they envisioned, the band spent years honing their craft and grinding it out on the road.It wasn't until their third album, Souls at Zero, that Neurosis began to fully experiment.
