The OG ATP lineup of James and Alex is here this week following Everton's 1-1 draw at Goodison Park vs Marco Silva's visiting Fulham, to take EFC to 5 matches unbeaten. Despite an enormously frustrating 90+ minutes where Everton were comfortably 2nd best, Michael Keane at striker was a genius tactical change from our not at all stubborn manager... KIDDING! (kind of) Beto's late substitution paid huge dividends as he found himself on the end of a great cross from Ashley Young, and seized the chance with emphasis and ensuing emotion. As usual, we break down the timeline of events and discuss the major moments with some help from our loyal and much appreciated listeners (thank you!). They also look at whether DCL and Harrison make way for Lindstrom and Beto despite the run of positive results. The ATP brings you an episode directly following Everton's 2-0 win away from home at Ipswich Town. An IT outage at Portman Road delayed the start by 15min signaling a rarity in PL football. Alex, James, and Shan dive into all the details of the match including lineups, key plays, and positive performances. As always, we had help from our Listener's with plenty of commentary regarding the match. We wrap it all up by looking ahead the next couple of weeks. It was a strange scoreless tie at Goodison vs. a Newcastle team that probably deserved more. The ATP takes us through all the drama in a match that definitely its fair share. From controversial officiating to tactical mishaps, James and Ryan break this one down in a lot of detail with the help of the tremendous ATP listener base. The duo get into the tactics, the use (or misuse) of personnel, and the strange decisions from a referee that doesn’t seem to favor Everton (also discussed). Thanks a ton for the excellent comments this week and the discord dialogue that really helped make this a more entertaining pod for a match that was seriously lacking in quality and entertainment. It was a tough one in London where Everton once again incurred an unfavorable result in a 4-0 beating courtesy of Spurs. The ATP tries to make sense of a bad combination of tactical mishaps, individual mistakes, and curious coaching decisions that contributed to the lopsided scoreline. James and Ryan gets into some of the game stories such as Dyche’s pre and post-match interviews about zero, heros, and European expectations. The dynamic duo also try and look ahead to see if there is light at the end of the tunnel and whether or not they might see it sooner than later. As always, the conversation is guided by the loyal ATP listener, who are very much appreciated after poor results such as this one. Toffees worldwide were hoping to see the beginning of Goodison's final season begin on a bright note. Instead, we were treated to all-too familiar reminders of Everton's shortcomings and bad fortunes of late, as EFC fell 3-0 to the visiting Brighton & Hove Albion. James and Ryan break down the season opener: from lineup selections, to the questionably overturned VAR decision, to the Ashley Young straight red, and more. They also lament the over-the-top reactions from some of the fanbase who seem to be in rare form for the opening weekend. It also would not be a true ATP episode if the DESPERATE NEED OF A RIGHT BACK was not discussed at length. The show wraps with the guys trying to guess when Sean Dyche might start to incorporate the new signings into the team. We appreciate all our listeners and contributors as we head into our 6th season covering the Toffees, and we hope you enjoy the episode! Very excited to bring you all something a little bit different from the ATP ahead of the start of the 24/25 PL season! James is joined by Shan Khan for an Everton-oriented preview of the soon-to-start campaign. In this episode, the guys remove the top 6 finishers from the conversation and elect to focus on the moves made by the clubs expected to be in and around Everton's league position come next May. They give a rundown of each team's performance last year, discuss any major incomings and outgoings, and give their take on how they feel each club will fare. Any feedback on the format and content is more than welcome! Producer's Note: We continue to be unfortunately plagued by recording issues and as a result, James' audio is a bit robotic intermittently during this episode. Hopefully it's not too distracting, but sincere apologies. We are working to get it resolved ASAP. The head of the Optimism Train himself, Shan Khan, joins Alex and Ryan in place of James to offer his takes on the direction of the team and the impacts on each transfer. The boys address everything from Onana’s parting words about style of play and Jesper Lindstrom’s insightful interview to dispelling some misconceptions about Jake O’Brien. For the final post-match of the year, the ATP brings you a full analysis and MORE after a controversial 2-1 loss at the Emirates vs. the Gunners. In a match that meant absolutely nothing due to the City win and Brentford loss, Everton conclude their season with 48-8 points, good enough for 15th in a rather down year from the Premier League, but fully safe from relegation under all circumstances. Alex and Ryan bring to you all the highs and the lows of a fairly uneven match in Arsenal’s favor, but also get into some of the squad news and the implications as Everton go into the summer. A final thanks to all of the pod’s loyal listeners and the tremendous club support that has us continue to do what we do – and as you all know; it’s not always been easy. Onwards and upwards! The ATP brings you a relaxed post-match verdict on a 1-0 win at Goodison Park for the final home match of the season. Alex, James, and Ryan get into lineups, team tactics, postive performances, and even look at possible upcoming squad turnover. The trio also has plenty of help from the community with listener comments throughout! LINKS: https://linktr.ee/usatoffeepod Production: Alex Johnson Intro: Steve Barkwill Outro: Kenboib
It’s nice to finally have a match without majors stakes involved, although we can’t say Everton’s 1-1 draw at Kenilworth Road was the most entertaining affair. The full power trio is together this week to bring you all a relatively relaxing pod with lots of listener comments and lots of disagreement on VAR and penalties. The ATP gets into some of the tactics as well as some of the individual performances in a match that lacked quality at times. Alex, James, and Ryan also get into the remaining matches and the chances of Everton keeping Brentford behind them in the standings and whether or not they could catch Crystal Palace. LINKS: https://linktr.ee/usatoffeepod Production: Alex Johnson Intro: Steve Barkwill Outro: Kenboib
Despite this being maybe the most trying season in Everton’s history, with turmoil at every step of the way, Everton have finally ensured safety with a 1-0 win vs. Brentford to make it 9 points in a single week at Goodison Park. It was a match that seemed improbable in many ways; from the long moments of possession, to the unlikely goal scorer, and ultimately, to the relatively low-stress environment thanks to the Luton Town loss earlier to Wolves. But what is NOT improbable, is the ATP bringing its loyal listeners all sort of humor from our discord as well as analysis from many of our other loyal listeners. James and Ryan get into the tactics, the individual performances, and finish with a solid referendum on Sean Dyche and the jobs he’s done under difficult circumstances. AND... BREATHE! Everton win the 244th Merseyside Derby by a score of 2-0!!! EFC's first Derby win at Goodison since 2010. Liverpool’s title chances dealt a near-fatal blow after Jarrad Branthwaite's first half scrambled goal was coupled by a thundering DCL header in the 2nd period of play. James and Alex are here for an old school ATP basking in the glory of 3 points and a hard-nosed, sp*rited display from Tracksuit Dyche's men. The guys of course discuss what was a rather frantic timeline, key in on some of the top performances including Pickford and Gana Gueye, and breathe a sigh of relief as the Blues have virtually ensured safety in the (corrupt) Premier League for our final season at Goodison. American Toffee Vibescast is here! Hope you all enjoy. UTFT LINKS: https://linktr.ee/usatoffeepod Intro: Steve Barkwill Production: James Boyman Outro: Kenboib

The guests were great and knowledgeable, and these two got in before Tottenham took off big time, but American Spurs supporters are definitely glory hunters.
