Fear and Beer: A Halloween Horror Nights Podcast

Part 2 of the madness is HERE! We’re diving into houses 34–17 on our ultimate HHN 30–34 rankings list! Things are starting to get serious now. The mid-tier is where the debates heat up, the hot takes fly, and some fan favorites might not land where you expect! Did a sleeper house climb higher than it should? Did a “classic” fall way lower than expected? Are we completely out of our minds yet?

Let the madness begin! This year we’re changing things up in a BIG way. Instead of a traditional bracket, we’re taking on the ultimate challenge and ranking EVERY haunted house from Halloween Horror Nights 30 through 34. That’s 5 years, 50 houses and 1 master list! In this three episode series, we each sat down and individually ranked every single house from the past five events. Then we combined our rankings, averaged out the scores, and created the official Fear and Beer HHN House Rankings. Now it’s time to break down the results, debate the placements, and relive the scares that defined this era of the event. Did one harsh ranking completely tank a house’s chances? Did a fan-favorite end up shockingly low on the list? Will an unexpected underdog rise through the rankings as the ultimate Cinderella story? In Part 1, we reveal houses ranked 50 through 35 and start the arguments early as the madness officially begins.

Remember Underground Creatures? What about Seaside Village? Maybe Devil Dogs, Lair of the Banshees, or even Billie Eilish will jog your memory. For the sake of sanity, we’re taking a trip back and revisiting Version 1 of every Speculation Map from HHN30 through HHN34, all created by the crew at Horror Night Nightmares. We’ll look back at what the rumors were at the time, what everyone in the community was saying, and what our initial reactions were when these maps first dropped years ago. We’re also breaking down the accuracy percentage of these first versions to remind everyone of one important thing: things change… and it’s still very early in rumor season.

This week, we’ve got a bit of a double feature! Speculation for Halloween Horror Nights 35 is officially running wild. On February 13th, we received another Speculation Map from Horror Night Nightmares. Nick and Shamus already gave their live reactions on YouTube, but we hadn’t heard from Jamie… until now. Nick and Jamie revisit the map to see if there are any clues they might’ve missed the first time around. Plus, Nick and Shamus sat down with Vinny Pacifico a professional wrestler by day, horror actor by night. We talk about how he got his start in both wrestling and horror, and what chilling projects he has coming up next.

In Part 2 of our quest to crown the 25 Best Horror Movies of the Last 25 Years, we’re jumping into the modern era! Covering the years of 2011 through 2025. The rules stay brutal: • 4 nominations per year • 5 minutes (or so) to debate • Only ONE movie survives as the yearly champion   From genre-defining hits to under-the-radar nightmares, this stretch of years is absolutely stacked! With HHN rumors cooling off (for now), we’re shifting gears and diving deep into what we love most… horror movies. In this episode, we’re traveling back through the last 25 years of horror, one year at a time to crown the 25 Best Horror Movies of the Last 25 Years.   Here’s the twist: Each year gets 4 nominations We’ve got 5 minutes (give or take) to debate Only one film per year can be crowned the champion Did we miss one of your favorites? It’s February. We’ve survived Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s which means there’s only one thing left to do… Start talking HHN 35! After months of tiny breadcrumbs and whispered rumors floating around the HHN universe, today’s the day we finally dive in. Is Stranger Things actually making a comeback? Could HHN land a potential Oscar-winning movie this year? Is Jack back?....again Only time will tell… but it’s officially rumor season, and we’re talking ALL about it. Let’s get into it. 

The time has come for our now seemingly annual Halloween Horror Nights Guess Map episode!  Somehow, over the past two years, we’ve lucked (or maybe skill’d?) our way into nailing a few of these picks, so let’s see how many we can call this year.   Every property on this map is pure guess work on our end. It’s that time of year again… our WAAAAAY too early Halloween Horror Nights predictions are back! And yes, we hear you: “It’s barely December, what the hell?” But around here, it’s never too early to start theorizing. Last year we threw out some wild guesses; Jason, FNAF, even Hatchet and Chains and somehow nailed a few along the way. Can we pull off another Hail Mary this season? We won’t know until August, but the speculation starts right now!

The season has officially come to a close and the votes are locked in! That can only mean one thing… it’s time for the illustrious Fear and Beer HHN Awards! From your Listener Awards to Best House, all the way to the highly coveted and infamous Broken Toilet Award, we’re honoring it all. So suit up, grab a seat, and join us as we shower this incredible event with one final bouquet of praise!

The wait is over! We’re back with Part 2 of our Halloween Horror Nights 34 finale, and this time we’re diving into what everyone’s been itching for....The Houses! We’ve been discussing these houses for almost a year now so let's see where each one stands!

What started as a simple one episode send off quickly turned into a two-parter! There was just too much to unpack without rushing it, so this week kicks off our Final Thoughts: Part 1! The fog has settled, the lights have dimmed, but there’s still plenty left to say about Halloween Horror Nights 34. How are we already halfway through the best time of the year?! HOW?! That being said, it’s time to check in and see where all the houses stand for us right now. Reminder: these rankings are based purely on our own experiences. Your list may look completely different and that’s the fun of it! Will things shift before the final rankings? Oh, absolutely. (And let’s be real—they probably will)  

This is a tough episode to do this year because everything is top notch! However, we do need to look every detail and think "Could this have been done better?" or "How do we take this and improve it for next year?"' We go into the Food and Beverage, Scare Zones, Street Experiences, Houses and Shows!
