Can herbs really make you healthy? My answer is yes… and no.In this video, I explore why herbs alone are not enough to create true health and why I believe our herbal community needs a stronger emphasis on exercise, exertion, and physical discipline. I say this not with judgment or anger, but out of deep concern for how we as herbalists model wellness.Together, we’ll look at the role of herbs like adaptogens, nervines, and anti-inflammatories, and how they support the body — but also why herbs can’t replace movement, moderation, and nutrition. Historically, health care always included exercise and bodily care as foundational practices, and I believe we need to bring that wisdom forward.🌿 Subscribe for herbal tips and wellness insights: https://bit.ly/4iRnpyX🎫 Upcoming Events - https://tinyurl.com/3y4xp6kc 🔗 Sky House Herb Website - https://www.skyhouseherbs.com/ ✨ In this video, I cover:Adaptogens — supporting stress resilience and energy balanceAnti-inflammatory herbs — easing systemic inflammationNervines — calming the nervous system and supporting mental healthNutrition — food as medicine and the power of moderationExercise & Exertion — strengthening the body through movementDiscipline & Balance — integrating lifestyle practices with herbsHerbs are powerful allies, but they are just one part of a holistic path. July’s Herb of the Month is Blue Vervain or Verbena hastata. This cool, bitter herb is native to wetlands and streambanks across North America. Blue vervain has a long history of use as a nervine relaxant and tension reliever—our ancestors turned to it for everything from calming anxious minds to easing menstrual cramps. I chose blue vervain for the month of July as it speaks to us about release—not only our need to let go of stress and tension but also our invitation to embrace softness and vulnerability. As we move into the height of summer’s heat and activity, you might try taking a few drops of Blue Vervain tincture or glycerite to encourage relaxation and hormonal balance. If you want to try Blue Vervain as a bitter fast-working tea, I recommend 🌿 Add 1 teaspoon of dried aerial parts to 1-2 cups of hot water and steep for 10 minutes covered. 🌿 Strain and, if you like, add a splash of plant‑based milk or a touch of honey to round out the bitterness.Enjoy either a few drops of Blue Vervain as a tincture or a few sips of tea every evening, and if you have time, take a few moments to sit quietly and notice how your body and mind respond—journal any insights that arise.Where to buy Blue Vervain:Mountain Rose Herbs – Wild Harvested Blue Vervain (Verbena hastata) – https://mountainroseherbs.com/blue-vervainPlease leave your questions, comments, and takeaways below! In this episode, I’m sharing some of my favorite medicinal herb pairings from my own garden and exploring the art of companion planting—not just from a gardening standpoint, but also from an energetic and symbolic perspective.Over the years, I’ve discovered that many herbs don’t just grow well together—they thrive in each other’s presence. These plant partnerships offer physical benefits like pest control, soil improvement, and immune support, while also weaving a subtle web of metaphysical resonance. When we plant with intention, the garden becomes more than a productive space—it becomes a living, healing relationship. In this video, I walk you through four powerful herbal pairings and why they work on both a biochemical and spiritual level:🌼 Chamomile & Mint – Peace meets clarity; these Mercury-ruled herbs bring calm focus while supporting each other physically through pest resistance and soil health. 🌾 Yarrow & Echinacea – A duo of protection and resilience, supporting boundaries, immunity, and ecological balance. 🌻 Calendula & Borage – Sunshine and courage in bloom; these companions uplift both soil and soul. 🌙 Lemon Balm & Valerian – Joy and rest, light and shadow—this yin-yang pair nurtures both the body and emotional cycles.🌙 Basil & Thyme – Aromatic besties with soil sparing roots that both provide great medicines and cooking spice.Whether you’re growing an herbal medicine garden, deepening your relationship with the plants, or curious about the energetic dynamics of the green world, this episode is for you.🌱 Like, comment, and subscribe if you love learning about herbal allies, plant spirit wisdom, and regenerative gardening practices!Links:Summer Solstice Free Event - https://www.skyhouseherbs.com/upcoming-events Garden Gatherings in Minnesota - https://www.skyhouseherbs.com/garden-gatherings Year Two Herbal Apprenticeship - https://www.skyhouseherbs.com/second-year———— MY ONLINE COURSES 🌱🌝 Roots & Spheres Class: https://bit.ly/RootsAndSpheres  🌿Herbal Foundations Apprenticeship: https://bit.ly/HerbalProgram————Chapters: Companion Planting Medicinal Herbs: Best Pairs for Growth, Healing & Spirit00:00 Begins00:34 Introduction to Companion Planting02:25 The Benefits of Chamomile and Mint05:54 Yarrow and Echinacea: Healing Pairs08:23 Borage and Calendula: Courage and Resilience10:39 Lemon Balm and Valerian: Relaxation Duo13:26 Basil and Thyme: Aromatic Allies14:41 Violet and Ladies Mantle: Feminine Healing16:37 The Power of Marigolds18:35 Intuition in Gardening: Learning Through Experience#CompanionPlanting #MedicinalHerbs #Herbalism #HerbGarden #PlantSpirits #EnergeticHerbalism #Permaculture #SpiritualGardening #Chamomile #Mint #Yarrow #Echinacea #Calendula #Borage #LemonBalm #Valerian
