The Roman Empire was one of the most powerful empires in human history, spanning over three continents and ruling over more than 60 million people at its peak. It was founded in 509 BC as the Roman Republic and transformed into an Empire in 27 BCE with Augustus as its first emperor. The Roman Empire was divided into two parts: the Western Roman Empire and the Eastern Roman Empire. The Romans were known for their impressive engineering feats, architecture, military strategy, complex system of government, and rich culture. However, the empire eventually fell in 476 CE due to factors such as economic instability, military overstretch, and internal political struggles.
