Mama is solo again this episode and we begin by talking about music! There's been some great new singles popping out in the last couple of weeks and Candace tells you what she thinks. Moves on to a mini review of Dance with the Dead and Beast in Black playing live in Denver, and then we go into some questions asked along with a rambling answer. Candace ends the show by revealing what metal band finally caught her mom's ear and that's the episode. On this episode, Candace is joined by one of the most inspiring people she's had the chance to talk to. Shred Rogers, a multi-talented metal musician comes on the show to talk about his projects. We touch on horror elements and comics and how they inspire musicians/artists, then he explains why he's started a family friendly metal project. This was such a cool episode to record. Not just because of two metal heads sharing their love of music, but hearing such an inspiring story or five. =======LINKS=======A Dark HaloShred Rogers Rozario Band Metal Mama's site
In this episode, Candace is joined by Charlotte, lead singer of Terminal Dusk. Charlotte gives us a behind the scenes tale of their newest music video, and then we move into talking about the amazing power of female metal singers. Then, we move into a serious discussion. Candace gives her own take on being a woman who is into metal, and Charlotte lays down her experience from the side of a performer. It is an eye-opening discussion where Candace just shuts up and lets the woman share her story. After that, it's a whole lot of talking about metal and why we feel bad when we don't like a band we love. =======LINKS=======Terminal Dusk Official SiteTerminal Dusk on InstagramTerminal Dusk's new music videoCatch Terminal Dusk live in Portland on September 9

Today, Candace is joined by Pete Rawcliffe from Crown Solace. We discuss the band's new EP, and take a dive into the technical side of vocals. After that, Pete talks a little about his inspirations and what pushed a sopranist into the metal side of things. As usual, there's never a topic and everything goes back to metal. Apologies for the audio issues. We use a pretty piece of software, but Pete's internet didn't like it and we had to resort to Pete using his phone. Today Candace is joined by Adrian Benegas! Of course, we get into some seriously shameless promotion of Adrian's newest album Arcanum, and then move into some more in depth discussions. Things get a little emotional toward the end when Adrian shares his outlook on music, then we decide to fight in the genre wars. Yet another episode you don't want to miss! This episode kicks off with a review of Laser Shooting Dinosaur by Angus McSix. Rino and Gyo join in to prove this very silly high-energy song is already a nerdy staple. We then move on to talking about having fun with metal and being nerdy, and why it's totally OK to do so! Candace introduces Goblins and Guitars to everyone (it's a D&D thing you can be a part of). After devolving into nerdy topics, we talk for a moment about different genres of music. This leads to an in-depth discussion based on a deep dive Candace took on how heavy metal survived a moral panic in the 1980s, where she shares her own experiences of being warned against the evils of "heavy metal."Featured Music on the show: Laser Shooting Dinosaur by Angus Mcsix on YouTube Diggy Diggy Hole by Windrose Dragon Heart by Battle Born (Yes, Candace transposed it. This episode begins with a review of "Dangerous Eyes" by Crown Solace. Then, Umbruhh joins us for more stuff! Candace spends some time talking about a recent show featuring Seven Kingdoms, Windrose, and Rhapsody of Fire. Candace briefly talks about how metal helps her cope with obsessive compulsive disorder, Umbruhh introduces us to a genre-crossing melodic piece, and we talk about how much power metal is used in memes. Candace attempts an actual flow into new topics and fails horribly. We attempt to talk about telling people to f*** off in games, and somehow ended up comparing this to metal. Just another typical show at Mama's house!=======Links! Warning: This podcast contains strong language, open discussion on cults and surviving cults, and epic music. Listener discretion is advised. In this episode, Candace is solo! You get to listen to her ramble for a little while. The episode begins with a quick bit of info on some content and formatting changes. Then, we move right into a review of the Arcana album by Adrian Benegas. You can find out what Candace thinks of it about three minutes into the episode! Then, the nerd stuff begins. Candace gets a little personal, diving into her background and how difficult it was for her to embrace the music she loves and a love of fantasy. Reminiscing happens and Candace talks about why she thinks it is so important to be exposed to different types of music. Warning! This podcast contains strong language and plenty of talk about some epic metal. This episode we are joined by metal YouTuber and music afficionado, Power Metal Ranger. A little less nerdy and a little more metal oriented, our special guest and Candace reminisce about what got them into power metal and the crazy shows we've got coming up this summer and fall. After that, the two bond and make plans for an upcoming 70000 Tons of Metal Tour and yes, we are aware Candace kept saying seven thousand instead of seventy because she was probably high. Not really. She just derped completely. For a short time, we get into different languages and a small conversation on linguistics. Because we are all nerds here. Umbruhh joins us again and we talk about the song of the episode - "Ten Thousand Against One" by Unleash the Archers. Umbruhh didn't know who they were and he's been sufficiently punished for it. We go on to ask if Guild Wars 2 is worth playing these days. Then, we discuss gaming communities and that brings us to villains. It's really not a far stretch, is it? Warning! This podcast contains strong language and epic metal. In this episode, we're joined by Rino and Gyo. Things begin with a discussion of the song of the episode, an epic metal cover of FFXIV by Skar Productions. After that, we talk about the nerd portion of the show! We begin by talking to table top RPG players about improv and how it works, with a lot of encouragement for the newbies. We have to apologize for the audio quality in the second half of the show. Technical issues forced us onto Discord, which is not a prime platform for podcast recording. We have the technology! The issue has now been fixed. Links:Song of the episode. Warning! This podcast contains strong language, internet opinions and epic metal. It also contains discussions of an adult nature. This time Candace is joined by Umbruhh where we talk about a racy metal music video, some epic stuff and move into discussing games we are excited for. Of course, we change course and move into more serious topics that ends in a life lesson on how to properly impact change in the world around you. Warning: This podcast contains strong language, nerd opinions, and epic tons of metal. It also contains spoilers for the FFXIV main story. In this episode we're discussing our song of the episode! "Yggdrasil" by Brothers of Metal. Then, Umbruhh and Candace dive into how they feel about FFXIV's newest MSQ, poor writing in video games, and Umbruhh is a bit of a gaming pessimist. Warning: Someone on the internet has an opinion and you may be triggered by it. This podcast also contains strong language and sex positive feminism. In the very first episode of the Metal Mama Podcast, Candace is joined by two semi-regular co-hosts Rino and Gyo. Our main topic of discussion is the bikini armor controversy. We begin by being total metalheads and talking about the quintessential artist Boris Vallejo, then we go into fantasy tropes, hate on sexist game companies (one in particular), and who needs to go touch grass.
