May 10. 2024 - Season 14, Episode 130 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Friday episode, Alex Kozora and I get right to talking about the Pittsburgh Steelers signing free agent WR Scotty Miller to a one-year contract since our last show. We discuss what Miller brings to the team, the state of the wide receiver room right now and much more concerning that position group. The Steelers 2024 rookie minicamp gets underway on Friday, so Alex and I go over the roster that was released and several other preview items ahead of the annual event in Pittsburgh. Steelers RB Najee Harris was back in the news on Thursday, and we tell you why. We discuss how we both think it's crazy to believe the report that Harris would have asked the Steelers to not pick up his fifth-year option this offseason. Might former Steelers OLB Bud Dupree be brought back in the coming days, weeks, or months? We attempt to answer those questions on the heels of a Thursday report concerning him. Later in this show, Alex and I are joined by Gregg Bell, who covers the Seattle Seahawks for The News Tribune, and Chris Tomasson, who covers the Denver Broncos for the Denver Gazette. We ask Bell about the possibility of the Steelers acquiring Seahawks WR DK Metcalf via a trade after June 1. We also get his thoughts on new Steelers QB Russell Wilson, who obviously played several years for the Seahawks after starting his NFL career in Seattle. As for our interview with Tomasson, we get his thoughts on if he thinks the Broncos might be looking to trade WR Courtland Sutton at any point during the offseason. We also get his thoughts on Wilson landing with the Steelers after playing the last two seasons with the Broncos in Denver. As always, we ask that you follow Bell and Tomasson on Twitter/X at @gbellseattle and @christomasson, respectively. You can read the work of these two beat writers at https://www.thenewstribune.com/profile/218712645 and https://gazette.com/users/profile/chris%20tomasson/, respectively as well. Alex and I then quickly recap what Bell and Tomasson told us on Friday. Several other minor topics not noted are also discussed in this 93-minute episode and we end it all by answering several emails we have received from listeners. steelersdepot.com Learn more about your ad choices. May 9, 2024 - For Episode 1,162 on this Thursday afternoon, Josh Carney says that putting the Steelers in the conversation of needing a QB in 2025 NFL Draft before they've even played a game in 2024 is unfair to all parties involved. steelersdepot.com Learn more about your ad choices. May 9, 2024 - On this episode of The Depot Dive, Ross McCorkle and Joe Clark kick things off by talking about the addition of WR Scotty Miller to the roster -- not exactly the "significant playmaker" that fans have been on the lookout for over the last couple weeks. They discuss the quantity over quality approach to the current WR room, and the possibility of continuing to add to that room later in the offseason. They then talk about the need at cornerback and some buzz around a reunion with Cam Sutton, and whether or not they see such a move happening given the legal issues he is facing. For the next topic, they discuss Najee Harris' fifth-year option decision and some of the factors that may have led to the Steelers declining it. Was it a good decision, or could it come back to bite the team later? They also talk about some comments by Kevin Colbert on Cameron Heyward's Not Just Football podcast where he discusses trying not to reach for players in the draft, and discuss some of his last several drafts when he was the GM where he was perceived as having reached on a few occasions. The show is wrapped up by Joe's take on the Austin Rivers NFL vs NBA debate, including some comments made by Heyward with his take on the matter. Thank you for joining us for this 28-minute episode, and we hope to see your thoughts in the comment section. Call the hotline at (412) 254-3145 and leave us a question for a future episode. May 8, 2024 - Season 14, Episode 129 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Wednesday episode, Alex Kozora and I get right to talking about the ever-dwindling list of free agent wide receivers now available on the heels of recent signings around the NFL. We then look at the state of the wide receiver depth chart that the Pittsburgh Steelers currently have and debate if that group is still one significant player short. Are the Steelers still attempting to maybe trade for a wide receiver? If they are, who would their trade targets be and why? We get into that discussion in the middle of this show. There are a few more Steelers rookie minicamp invites to discuss in this show, so we do just that. Additionally, we discuss the official jersey numbers that have been announced for the members of the 2024 draft class. Alex and I briefly discuss what he saw on tape when it comes to the Steelers fourth round draft pick this year, OG Mason McCormick. We also talk a little bit about another one of the team's seven draft picks this year, ILB Payton Wilson. Former Steelers WR Antonio Brown had some things to say concerning his old team during a recent interview with Jason Whitlock on his show, so we quickly recap those talking points. I update the cash spending of the Steelers now that the draft is over with. We discuss where more cash might be spent moving forwards into the offseason. Several other minor topics not noted are also discussed in this 87-minute episode and we end it all by answering several emails we have received from listeners. steelersdepot.com Learn more about your ad choices. May 6, 2024 - Season 14, Episode 128 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Monday episode, Alex Kozora and I get right to talking about the upcoming rookie minicamp that the Pittsburgh Steelers will conduct later this week and how it does not appear as though CB Cory Trice Jr. will be eligible to participate in it due to CBA rules. We discuss the fairness of that and more. The Steelers signed WR Marquez Callaway to a futures contract earlier in the offseason and Alex and I discuss his chances of making the 53-man roster in 2024. We talk some about his career to date and his limited special teams exposure in the NFL so far as well. Steelers rookie CB Ryan Watts, the team's final draft pick this year, has some unusually long arms and we pass along some research that Alex has conducted related to that topic. Alex also recently posted a film room on rookie Steelers C Zach Frazier that we recap in this show. We take time to go over the veteran player winners/losers list that Alex put together based on what all has transpired so far this offseason with the Steelers. Several other minor topics not noted are also discussed in this 87-minute episode and we end it all by answering several emails we have received from listeners. steelersdepot.com Learn more about your ad choices. May 5, 2024 - For Episode 1,158 on this Sunday afternoon, Dr. Melanie Friedlander looks at how Najee Harris's production stacks up against the data for the running back wall and whether that was a factor in the Steelers declining to pick up his fifth-year option. steelersdepot.com Learn more about your ad choices. May 3, 2024 - For Episode 1,156 on this Friday afternoon, Alex Kozora takes issue with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell and his flippant comments about reducing the preseason from three games to two in his quest to move to an 18-game regular season. steelersdepot.com Learn more about your ad choices. May 3, 2024 - Season 14, Episode 127 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Friday episode, Alex Kozora and I get right to talking about the Pittsburgh Steelers decision to not exercise the fifth-year option on the rookie contract of RB Najee Harris. We go over all aspects of that decision on Harris, what likely led to the declining of the fifth-year option and what the outcomes with the running back might be moving forward. We discuss if we think the Steelers made the right decision with Harris as well. Alex and I go over a short list of players that eventually signed new contracts with their respective teams after initially having their fifth-year options declined. We also discuss what course of action Harris may or may not take for the remainder of the offseason now that his fifth-year option has been declined by the Steelers. After a long discussion about Harris, Alex and I then discuss the possibility of new Steelers QB Justin Fields being used some as a kickoff returner based on what all RB Jaylen Warren said on the topic during his recent interview with Cameron Heyward on his podcast over the weekend. Will Fields even get as much as one snap on the kickoff return team in 2024? We attempt to answer that question. Alex and I then move on to recap the event last few days that former Steelers CB Bryant McFadden has had after his tweet concerning Pittsburgh likely to add a "significant playmaker" soon. We also review what Steelers GM Omar Khan had said in recent interviews concerning the team possibly trading for "significant playmaker" soon. Dur to reader and listener peer pressure this last week, I went down the rabbit hole of the plausibility of the Steelers maybe trading for Seattle seahawks WR DK Metcalf after June 1. We go over the situation the Seahawks have with their salary cap, why they may or may not be interested in trading Metcalf and also go over things related to Seattle that will be worth following these next few weeks. With two more free agent wide receivers, D.J. Chark and Odell Beckham Jr., now agreeing to terms with new teams, Alex and I update the short list of players that the Steelers might could consider adding to their roster in some form or fashion moving forward into the offseason. Finally, we go over the latest players invited to participate in the Steelers upcoming rookie minicamp, which will take place in Pittsburgh next weekend. Several other minor topics not noted are also discussed in this 92-minute episode and we end it all by answering several emails we have received from listeners. steelersdepot.com Learn more about your ad choices. May 2, 2024 - With the 2024 NFL Draft in the books, Joe Clark and Ross McCorkle discuss the full draft class, and go through each player individually to discuss their fit and the value they brought the Steelers in the draft. The theme was hearts and smarts and three of the players had one specific trait in common. They also discussed the "significant playmaker" watch that has been going on since former Steelers CB Bryant McFadden posted a compelling tweet and later walked it back a bit. The final topic was discussing Jaylen Warrens comments on Justin Fields returning kicks and how feasible that is. They finish the show by answering a listener question. May 1, 2024 - Season 14, Episode 126 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Wednesday episode, Alex Kozora and I get right to talking about some latest news cornering the Pittsburgh Steelers and that includes us going over some players that have been invited to participate in the team's forthcoming rookie minicamp. New Steelers T Troy Fautanu is discussed a little bit early in this show as part of some things he recently said in an interview. We talk some about why he likely slid to the Steelers at 20th overall in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft. Steelers GM Omar Khan has conducted several interviews since our last show, so Alex and I recap that the things he had to say that were important. We go over the addition of another wide receiver and cornerback not being imminent at this time and the possibility of veteran CB Cameron Sutton being brought back. We also talk about the status of the recent report restructuring of the contract of OLB Alex Highsmith and how it has yet to hit the NFLPA side yet. Alex recently did a full profile on undrafted free agent RB Daijun Edwards, so we discuss what that longer look showed. We also discuss the two targets contextualizations of new Steelers WR Roman Wilson from his time at Michigan that I have now completed. We also talk a little about the New York Jets seemingly having interest in drafting Wilson this past weekend. Alex also posted his way-too-early 53-man roster prediction for 2024 on the site so we go through that position group by position group. Several other minor topics not noted are also discussed in this 90-minute episode and we end it all by answering several emails we have received from listeners. steelersdepot.com Learn more about your ad choices.
