Description

This podcast explores the many facets of coaching, how the many and varied coaching tools work, how a range of techniques can help overcome barriers to success, and how the multiple areas and challenges of life can benefit from coaching.

In series 1 I explored a number of topics, all linked to the work that I do. After 12 episodes I decided to take a break and review the content. Tune in soon for series 2.

In this episode I start to talk about modalities and sub-modalities. It's an overview of how by understanding the sub-modalities, we can change our perception of the world. We can also understand the messages that are being sent our way, and how the sub-modalities are being altered to enhance the message, and whatever the messenger wants to convey.
Following on from the previous episode in which I talked about representational systems, in this episode I talk about predicates.Predicates are the words (nouns, verbs, adjectives and so so) that we use to describe the world around us. Our choice of predicate will indicate a representational system. If we can understand predicates, we can work out other people's preferences, which leads to better communication and greater rapport.
In this episode, I talk about representational systems, the systems linked to our five senses (six, when we include auditory digital). We all have a preferred system, both for processing the world and for then retrieving memories. Some of us are auditory, some are visual, and so on.Understanding our preferred systems allows us to play to our strengths, we can switch system if our preferred system is not giving us the results we want, and, if we are working with other people, we can work with their systems, increasing rapport. If you want to find out what your preferences are, do the representational system test, which you can find here.
I mentioned sensory acuity in series 3 episode 5, and in this episode I explore the topic in much greater detail.Sensory acuity is all about learning to understand consciously the unconscious communication from others. We do this unconsciously, which is the reason we get a sense, a feeling about that others are saying, a sense of things not quite adding up. If we learn to recognise that consciously, it opens up a whole new level of communication.Within sensory acuity is the importance of eye accessing cues, which gives real insight.
In this episode, I explore everything linked to rapport. It's a skill which we all have to a greater or lesser extent. Some just naturally build rapport, whereas others have to work at it.The good news is that it is something that we can all learn to do better. With some understanding of what we do to build rapport, you can fast-track the process which sometimes happens very quickly whereas at times it can be a slow process.Master the skills of rapport, and develop the skill of better communication.
