Since I am a graduated film student, having dedicated my life to the study of this craft. I felt it necessary to connect the identity of "filmmaker" to me a bit more; publicly. I am a content creator now with the sole purpose to funding and fueling my true passion, which is cinema. The power behind this medium is not widely known, even though the medium is widely consumed. Movies are taken for granted, and I want to reveal why they should not be. Please join me as I talk about some of the best movies ever made, in my humbly informed opinion.

THERE IS A SPOILER AT THE END, BUT I GIVE A WARNING!
I had no clue how they could possibly top John Wick Chapter 3, but they definitely did in Chapter 4. I'm still putting back the pieces of my blown mind, after seeing it last night; what a thrill ride. The Academy needs to acknowledge stunt work!
The comedy in this movie is refreshing, because of the era of comedy that it was released in; this one is the most reigned-in and caters to me in that way. Other movies like Superbad, The Hangover, and Role Models released around the same time - but Due Date was always my favorite out of that bunch of comedies. I could watch the chemistry between RDJ & Galifinakis all day; love Todd Philips too.
Director Sam Mendes and writer Alan Ball captured a such a specific view into humanity in this film. The exploration of human behavior and human psyche is fascinating; with a perfect cast bring these characters to life. This movie is a treasure to lovers of cinema, and an inspiration to those who aspire to create films.
Christian Bale is my Batman. Heath Ledger is my Joker. Christopher Nolan's gritty reimagining of these two characters catered to an audience that was over comic book movies. Those three men understood the assignment and delivered a product that will endure the test of time. This is a phenomenal stand-alone action movie, on top of being a great superhero story too.
One of my all time favorite Mel Gibson starring films. Ron Howard is an underrated director and deserves his praise for this gem he made. Connections can be found between this movie about an 8-year old kid being kidnapped, and the Sound of Freedom movie that just released on July 4th. Ransom has been made unavailable to stream/rent/buy on any streaming services... I WONDER WHY.
My personal favorite of all the Mission Impossible movies in the franchise. It is 75% because of Phillip Seymour Hoffman and his cold, calculated, and sadistic villain. No other M:I bad guys have lived up to the iconic role that PCH brought to us; I miss that man so much. This is also smaller in scale and set apart from the rest of the franchise, all for reasons I love!

The Vietnam war holds a special place in my heart, and my compassion is full for those who served in that dreadful war; that could have been avoided. Oliver Stone pours his heart into this movie, having served 2 years in the war himself; he made this movie for his own sanity. This movie is brutal to watch at times, and it made it so on purpose. He is showing us the brutality of that war, and how inhumane it became for everyone involved. How did those veterans fit back into society afterwards? I'm not sure they ever did. I sincerely thank anyone who served in this war.

One of my absolute favorite comedies, growing up. Steve Carell's casting in this was genius as he resembled the original Maxwell Smart (Don Adams) so closely. Other comedians who were set to star in this role, would not have worked nearly as well as Steve Carell did. The visual gags and storytelling heighten the quality, showing the production value sought for even small jokes. Peter Segal is the man!
This bone chilling role for Robin Williams solidified him as way more than just a comedian. He had done dramatic roles prior to this, but this is by far the most complex and dynamic character that he got to play. It's hard to find the message of the movie until the very final scene; and then it all clicks into perspective. A film about either continuing on, or stopping a trauma cycle.

The best sports movie, in my humblest of opinionates. I'm not an expert on sports related films, but this is by far the most emotionally driven; and emotionally moving films of it's genre. I think it's a drama at its core, layered with masterful screenwriting; carried by the high caliber acting performances. This review was a must!
My personal favorite of all the Coen brothers movies. The humor seems catered exactly to my sensibilities and the performances are pure entertainment, as the actors make such intriguing choices for their characters; in the name of comedy. Not the deepest in the filmography of the Coen's, but one of the funniest of their films without a doubt. Every actor cast here is spot on, I love the convoluted plot that even confuses some of the characters in the story. This movie is a treasure, and once a year watch for me; for sure!

Another film school discovery that I will take with me forever. This film is a masterclass in heightening stakes to tell a story, or pulling at your heartstrings. The depiction of a depraved world without hope, that finds a savior to restore them; it's beautifully handled. The choice is handheld cinematography, mixed with extremely long takes in action scenes - it's just a brilliant piece of art from cover to cover.
10 years after seeing this movie for the first time, I am reviewing it because it officially made me want to study film. Damon & Affleck proved that it's possible to be consistent and push a project to its completion; and far beyond. Nominated for 9 Academy Awards, this film broke ground in a way audiences of today's generation might not fully comprehend. Their foresight to cast Robin Williams in this role, is the best decision they could have possibly made; and the rest of the cast is spot on as well. An original and unorthodox way of telling a story, when most of the time the main protagonist doesn't know his own motivations; that's very different.
This film has one of the best messages I've seen in recent movies being released. With the array of political and woke agendas being pushed, this is a breath of fresh air. Nic Cage states that this is his favorite movie, and his admiration for the character of Rob, that he's playing; is so clearly evident on screen. It's an impressive directorial debut, beautifully hand-crafted, and set near my home town. There's so much to love and appreciate about this film.
One of the most intense theatrical experiences I have ever had, the story surrounding my viewing of this film upon its release; is quite memorable to me! I was jaw dropped for the entirety of the final scene, including the 9 minute drum solo. This movie rests in my Top 10 favorite list, most likely forever. Damian Chazelle's directorial debut had such impact on the industry, starting at Sundance as a 17min. short film; then funded into a feature length movie. Miles Teller went from nearly X rated party comedies, to advancing himself into serious dramatic roles for the absolute better. JK Simmons won the much deserved Oscar for supporting actor in his ridiculously callous and coldhearted role as Fletcher. What a blend of talent. I aspire to be Whiplash.
Directed by Richard Linklater, who is the only one who could have made this right. He let Jack Black free on the screen, giving him so much command and control. This is peak Jack Black. Great movie, with some great comedy; and some good lessons learned! Rock solid concert at the the end too.
