Description

"For all things the driving mind ponders" will relate to the complexities of what, I believe, is the last hoo-rah for the automotive enthusiast. I hope to connect with those who are drivers, car enthusiasts, and those who turn wrenches and capture a piece of why they involve themselves in this burdensome hobby.

As we transition to electrification, I want to leave a running record of what it was like to see the last golden age of the internal combustion engine. I will have my eccentric thoughts of what the modern car community has to offer. At times I will seem unreasonable, ill-informed, or perhaps even uncouth when it comes to my topics of discussion, but I hope it sparks those independent thinkers in "the scene" to challenge me or themselves to the "what" and "why."

Thank you to those who have followed my Youtube Channel @yourrideandi and I hope to offer you another outlet of pessimistic, yet appreciative enthusiasm for the automotive gear-heads.

Monetizing Takeovers

Monetizing Takeovers

2023-05-3020:20

Yes you read this right - monetizing street takeovers; however, this episode is meant to hold US accountable for its proliferation. In this episode, I discuss how we as a car community will continue to see these takeovers happen because of its monetization. People will continue to film, promote, and encourage the accessibility of it so they can get more likes and clout in their social media. In my opinion, the only way to minimize this problem is to cut off the revenue stream for those involved in these activities and I discuss how we can do this without cutting off car enthusiasts.

My parents, who are septuagenarians, recently purchased their "last" vehicle. It happens to be an uninspiring Ford Edge SEL with Convenience Package. This lead me to the bigger picture: What will be the car I die with? What will be the last car purchase I make when I am getting to the age where driving around town is just plain irresponsible? I approached this question not so much as a car enthusiast, but rather someone of old age and on a fixed income.
