Description

Finding Focus is where transformation stories come alive. Whether you’re navigating a life transition, career pivot, or spiritual awakening, this podcast offers insight, inspiration, and real conversations with people who found clarity and purpose by following their inner guidance--and sometimes a strong nudge from the Universe. Host Kathleen Davenport, a retired military officer turned intuitive guide and visual storyteller creates space for seasoned leaders, practical seekers, the spiritually curious, and anyone feeling called into something more.

Through humor, heartfelt stories, and coffee-style conversations, you’ll hear how intuitive hits, synchronicities, and even life’s “weird” moments can reveal what matters most. If you’re done believing mindset and hustle are enough, it’s time to lean in, trust the guidance, and consider that maybe this is the sign you’ve been waiting for.

A note from Kathy: Finding Focus is a nod to my years as a fine art photographer. Behind the lens, I learned to see beyond the surface—capturing not just what was visible, but what was true. Whether photographing people, landscapes, or quiet corners of nature, I discovered I could sense the deeper essence that others might overlook. Sometimes the most breathtaking view wasn't the one directly in front of me—it was what waited just behind, or just beyond the obvious frame.

That way of seeing has deepened and evolved into my work as a spiritual channel and intuitive guide. Just as I once helped bring hidden beauty into focus through the camera, I now help people access wisdom and clarity that exists beyond the visible—connecting them to their own inner knowing and the guidance that's always available. Finding Focus is about that journey—learning to see yourself and your life through new eyes, tuning into the deeper frequencies, and realizing that what you've been searching for has often been right there all along, waiting to be revealed.

In this heartfelt episode of Finding Focus, Kathleen Davenport sits down with longtime friend Janet Wiszowaty for a rich conversation about reinvention, resilience, healing, and the courage to keep growing at every stage of life. Janet shares her remarkable journey from high school dropout and young mother to Royal Canadian Mounted Police dispatcher, author, speaker, coach, and retreat leader. Along the way, she opens up about the life events that shaped her—including her husband’s heart attack, her own struggles with fibromyalgia, PTSD, burnout, and the wake-up calls that forced her to pause, listen, and choose a new path. Together, Kathleen and Janet explore the power of personal development, the importance of the people we surround ourselves with, and the truth that it is never too late to begin again. They talk about how busyness can mask what truly needs our attention, how the body often signals what the soul already knows, and why healing, purpose, fun, friendship, and legacy all matter in building a meaningful life. This episode is a reminder that your life is not over just because one chapter ended. Sometimes the pause is where the real magic begins. Episode HighlightsJanet shares how a lack of confidence in her younger years did not stop her from building an extraordinary life.A powerful reflection on how beliefs about who we are often come from others—and can be rewritten. Why retirement is not the end for many people, but the start of a whole new chapter.Janet’s story of navigating her husband’s heart attack and how that experience eventually led to her own physical collapse.A moving conversation about fibromyalgia, trauma, and how the body stores what we do not process. Why healing often begins when we stop ignoring the “little taps on the shoulder.”Kathleen and Janet discuss the danger of staying busy to avoid what really needs attention. The importance of vision, present-moment action, and consciously choosing how to respond to life.Janet introduces her retreat, The Magic in the Pause, and the seven life areas she believes deserve our attention.A conversation about friendship, environment, and why the people around us shape our energy, focus, and possibilities.Janet shares how she turned a dream of speaking at the United Nations into reality.A beautiful reminder that no training, teacher, or mentor “changes your life” for you—they help bring out what is already within you.The episode closes with encouragement to stop waiting, trust the timing of your life, and remember that growth is possible at any age. Key TakeawaysIt is never too late to reinvent yourself. The body often speaks when the mind refuses to listen.Busyness can become a mask.Healing requires attention, choice, and action. The right people can help you see possibilities you cannot yet see for yourself.Pauses are not always setbacks; sometimes they are invitations.Your lived experience holds wisdom that can serve others. Contact Janet Wiszowaty: ·     Text: 780 983 0840·     Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/janet.wiszowaty?mibextid=LQQJ4d·     LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/janetwiszowaty/·     Instagram: NowWhatCoachHere's where you can find and connect with Kathleen in all the cozy corners where she hangs out:https://linktr.ee/kathleendavenportAvailable on all major podcast stations, Finding Focus with Kathleen Davenport is where transformation stories come alive. In this episode, Kathleen sits down with psychic detective and medium Todd Segal (joining from Williamsburg, Virginia) for a candid, wide-ranging conversation about intuition, psychic detective work, and what it’s like to live with heightened perception in a very “logical” world.Todd shares how his path unfolded unexpectedly--from running a New England bed-and-breakfast on spiritually active land, to giving spontaneous “breakfast table” readings, to realizing (after thousands of “coincidences”) that what he was receiving wasn’t imagination--it was clear, detailed vision. Kathleen and Todd also revisit the real-life cases that first connected them: the missing hiker in Maui and a subsequent search for an elderly neighbor who wandered into dense terrain--cases where Todd’s specific details (including the presence of wild pig trails) matched what searchers found.Together, they explore the tension many people feel between logic and intuition--especially those in the military or law enforcement--along with why intuitive people often struggle to “read” themselves. Todd also discusses discernment, the risks of perceiving what others don’t want known, and why stepping into one’s true work can relieve depression and restore purpose. As the conversation expands, Todd touches on broader themes: intense weather patterns and solar activity, a growing societal divide, and a bigger “cosmic” perspective--suggesting we’re living inside a much larger reality, with human evolution driven not only by technology but by changes in our own awareness and “waking up” over time. The episode closes with warmth and humor, including Todd’s dream of windsurfing as a “retirement career” and Kathleen’s stories from golfing with her 80+ crew—proof that staying engaged keeps us alive.Highlights & Key MomentsHow Kathleen and Todd first connected: Todd’s input on a missing Maui hiker case (and later an elderly neighbor search) showcased the kind of precise, location-based detail Todd is known for.Todd’s origin story: A skeptical carpenter/farmer/artist who began unintentionally delivering accurate insights—then couldn’t ignore the pattern.September 11th premonition: A striking moment Todd describes as an early confirmation that something beyond “coincidence” was happening. What a “psychic detective” actually does: Todd compares it to detective work—except the evidence is received internally as clear vision rather than gathered physically.Logic vs intuition (especially in military/law enforcement): Both agree those environments often rely on intuition, even when people won’t name it that way.Why you can’t read yourself well: Emotional bias and fear can block self-perception—one reason even intuitives seek other intuitives. The “cost” of the work: Todd shares the heavy side--gruesome information, difficult energy, and why he’s become more selective with exposure.Discernment and safety: Todd notes that knowing what others want hidden can create real-world risk, even if people don’t openly believe in psychic perception.Weather, solar activity, and sensitivity: A practical conversation about energetic “off days,” electronics acting up, and extreme temperature patterns.Big-picture perspective: Todd frames life as a small slice of a much larger reality--suggesting humanity is reawakening, and younger generations may access different capacities.Learn more and schedule a reading with Todd at his website: https://www.toddsegalpsychic.com/Connect with Kathleen at https://kathleendavenport.com/Here's where you can find and connect with Kathleen in all the cozy corners where she hangs out:https://linktr.ee/kathleendavenportAvailable on all major podcast stations, Finding Focus with Kathleen Davenport is where transformation stories come alive. Today’s episode is a replay of my monthly Straight from the Source free online gathering. These are live, coffee-style, unscripted sessions where the conversation is led by the energy of the group—part discussion, part intuitive guidance, and sometimes a little spontaneous channeling.Straight From the Source is a free monthly online gathering. To learn more or to RSVP, visit my website at kathleendavenport.comToday’s group conversation weaves around the messages from the flame, signs and synchronicities, how pain in the body may indicate an imbalance in masculine or feminine energy, and how listening from the heart can be a guide for receiving deeper messages. The group explores discernment vs. overthinking, how to recognize repeating signs, and why slowing down can be the exact doorway that reveals what’s next. Along the way, the conversation touches on EFT/tapping, plant medicine integration, and the deeper invitation of this season: come out of the head and into the heart so clarity can land. And finally, I share a live channeled insight for a participant standing at the edge of retirement. Memorable Moments·     Message from the Flame: “I am not here to consume you. I am here to free you.”·     "The body isn’t going to lie to you. The brain might twist things, but the body tells the truth.”·     “When signs show up one, two, three, four in a short span… that’s not coincidence.”·     “You don’t have to choose one part of you over another. I thought it might be fun to pull back the curtain and share what really happens when Spirit shows up for an intuitive reading. Whether it’s your very first session or you’ve worked with other readers before, my goal is to make the experience feel like two friends having coffee--with a few special guests from the higher realms joining the conversation. In this episode, I talk about how I receive messages, what it feels like when your guides make their presence known, and why those little goosebumps (or “chicken skin,” as we say in Hawaiʻi) often mean Spirit’s saying, “Pay attention--this one’s for you.”You’ll hear how images, symbols, and sensations come through to tell the deeper story of your soul and always in the spirit of love, light, and a good dose of curiosity. By the end, I hope you’ll see that a reading isn’t about predicting the future: it’s about connection, clarity, and remembering that you are always guided and supported.HighlightsHow I create a relaxed, coffee-conversation atmosphere for each readingWhat it means to channel messages for someone’s highest and best goodHow Spirit speaks through images, symbols, and feelingsWhy your guides often join the session — and how you might sense them tooThe meaning behind “chicken skin” moments (Spirit’s version of a high five)Why each reading builds upon the last, revealing new layers of insightThe role of free will — and how readings reveal possibilities, not predictionsSpirit’s recurring message: get out of your head and into your heartMy TakeawayEvery reading is a sacred conversation--a space where guidance flows, hearts open, and light expands. Embracing the Pause

Embracing the Pause

2025-03-0819:08

I haven't been able to get much of anything done lately. And it's been kind of stumping me to try to figure out what's the holdup because when I'm ready to work, information and creativity just flow. But for the past two weeks, nothing's been flowing. And then I think I figured it out....so that's why I hopped on here and wanted to share this message, because i feel that there's probably some of you who are going through something similar. Listen in as I talk about doing vs. being and how embracing the pause is sometimes the only path to take. Finding New Focus as an Intuitive Guide & Spiritual ChannelI'm continuing to bloom in new ways. And I encourage all of you to follow your highest excitement and see what doors open and what magic unfolds for you. I'm following my own highest excitement and bringing my experience as a certified life coach and personal development trainer to the work I do now offering intuitive guidance and channeled readings for clarity and deep personal transformation. I did an intuitive guidance session and reading for a client recently, and I thought I'd share a little bit about how the information comes to and through me. When I do intuitive guidance/spiritual readings for clients, I don't go into the session with any pre-conceived ideas or hopes of providing just the right answer. I trust that whatever comes through is in the highest and best interest of the person seeking guidance. When I start a session, I basically become a blank canvas. And then images and scenes are shown to me and I relay what I'm seeing to the client. It's almost like watching a movie through a soft-focus lens. I share everything I'm seeing and sensing--and oftentimes when something big hits, I get full-body chills. Sometimes the client also experiences these tingles. Everything I channel is from a place of love and light. Every message is wrapped in kindness. What I see and what I feel when I channel is so incredibly soft--yet powerful. Listen in as I share about this gift and journey as an intuitive guide and I hope you'll stay tuned to what I feel is my most authentic self.To connect with me, leave comments or questions, or view my offerings, visit my website at www.kathleendavenport.com  Let's connect!·      Website·      Instagram·      Facebook·      LinkedinHere's where you can find and connect with Kathleen in all the cozy corners where she hangs out:https://linktr.ee/kathleendavenportAvailable on all major podcast stations, Finding Focus with Kathleen Davenport is where transformation stories come alive. As we step into a new year, this short 5-Minute Focus offers a gentle but powerful reframe: joy is not something you earn later—it’s something you embody along the way.In this episode, I invite you to release the idea that joy is a reward waiting at the finish line. Instead, I explore joy as a quiet signal of alignment—an honest response that arises when you’re living in truth, not striving for perfection. If you’re thoughtful, growth-oriented, or spiritually curious, you may recognize the endless loop of “fixing,” healing, or preparing for what comes next. I offer a compassionate shift from striving to inhabiting—from waiting to Embodying the Becoming. This episode is a reminder that joy doesn’t require denial or forced positivity. It doesn’t erase grief or uncertainty. It simply walks alongside you as you allow who you’re becoming to show up in real life—through your choices, boundaries, relationships, and pace.A perfect pause for the new year—or any moment when you’re ready to stop postponing your life and start living it.Episode Highlights:Why joy is not a goal or reward, but part of the journeyThe difference between joy and forced positivity or spiritual bypassHow joy acts as a signal of alignment and truthThe subtle trap of constant self-improvement and “once I get there” thinkingWhat it means to Embody the Becoming in everyday lifeAn invitation to stop waiting until you feel ready and begin inhabiting your life nowA gentle New Year wish rooted in trust, honesty, and alignmentHere's where you can find and connect with Kathleen in all the cozy corners where she hangs out:https://linktr.ee/kathleendavenportAvailable on all major podcast stations, Finding Focus with Kathleen Davenport is where transformation stories come alive. We dive into what true alignment feels like, how it transforms decision-making and energy, and why a good reading can be the mirror that reflects back your own inner knowing. Show SummaryIn this episode of 5-Minute Focus, I explore the theme of navigating life's chaotic moments and the transformative power of change--showing how periods of upheaval are not punishments but opportunities for recalibration and renewal. Through the metaphor of a dust devil shown during an intuitive reading, I'll talk about how energy shifts can lead to cleansing and growth.Key TakeawaysLife's chaotic moments can be seen as opportunities for recalibration.Energy shifts often lead to unexpected events and feelings of chaos.Transformation occurs not just in wilderness but where we are planted. The dust devil symbolizes energy in motion, cleansing what is stagnant.Trusting the process of change can lead to renewal and growth. The strongest sign of energy shifting is often motion, not peace.Intuitive readings can provide clarity during times of transformation.Spirit communicates through symbols to reveal what needs to be released. The winds of change can clear space for new beginnings.Embracing the messiness of change is part of the sacred workHere's where you can find and connect with Kathleen in all the cozy corners where she hangs out:https://linktr.ee/kathleendavenportAvailable on all major podcast stations, Finding Focus with Kathleen Davenport is where transformation stories come alive.
