An arrest, two trials, and a heartbroken father. After Cara Knott was murdered in December of 1986 police honed in on a suspect, one of their own, California Highway Patrolman, Craig Peyer. Nineteen days after the murder Peyer was arrested but it would take two trials before a jury finally rendered a verdict.  For some it was hard to believe a “good cop” could commit such a heinous crime.  In the aftermath of Cara’s murder, her father, Sam Knott fought for  major changes in the criminal justice system. Due to technical difficulties, I am unable to release a new episode. It's been a week, ya'll! But I thought I'd take this opportunity to re-release arguably the most important episode I've ever recorded. Every episode is important but, in this case, we have the chance to make a huge difference. To this day, the Judge Rotenberg Center is still using electric shock therapy on 53 autistic and/or disabled human beings. I covered the history of the Judge Rotenberg Center from it's beginning to current day in a seven-part mini-series (episodes 27-34 -originally released 8/5/21). You can binge them or listen to this episode as a stand-alone. This is my interview with the incredible Jen Msumba. Everyone should hear and know her story. Jennifer Msumba:  https://www.jennifermsumba.com/ Employee X, Lemonade, and a survivor. Judge Rotenberg Center in Canton, Massachusetts is a day and residential school treating children from as young as five, all the way through adulthood with intellectual disabilities, psychiatric issues and those on the autism spectrum since 1971.  JRC has been surrounded in controversy with allegations of abuse since it was founded by Matthew Israel.  Something that experts and the United Nations deem as torture. Something the FDA banned but is still being used as a treatment today, the Graduated Electronic Decelerator.  Take Action at Neuroclastic: https://neuroclastic.com/justice/ban-electroshock-therapy/ Living Archive on the Judge Rotenberg Center’s Abuses: https://autistichoya.net/judge-rotenberg-center/ The Bearded Behaviorist: https://www.facebook.com/BeardedBehaviorist/ Hops & Hooves: https://www.facebook.com/hopsandhoovespodcast/ Learn more about your ad choices. It’s my last week off for Christmas and Kim with A Million Other Choices Podcast is filling in again with the stories of Jill Stuchenko, Cyntha Maas, Natasha Montgomery and Loren Leslie. We all know the names of many serial killers - but can we name the victims? One of Canada's youngest killers, Cody Legebokoff, was caught by chance and left a wake of destruction to families in his path. Every victim, no matter their lifestyle or station in life deserves justice and is loved and missed and worthy of their story being told. as far as the district attorney and his sweeping new measures, even being not a big fan of the death penalty myself, I wonder how badly these other sweeping measures affect justice for victims of crime. I am not wondering "if", I am wondering how badly. I am sure he is part of the same spectrum of misguided mindset that produced the two useless sadists well placed in the child welfare agency that are part of Anthony's story.

so the surviving kids were placed in the care of the same agency responsible for failing their brother to death. I do not feel so good about this. I do not trust that they are being cared for properly, and are in caring capable foster homes such as those can even bee found when needed.

oh JFC at. least two of the higher ups in that child services agency need far stronger consequences than being "disciplined". if only our laws were not so wimpy and useless, so that people in their positions who deliberately fail children to death could do prison time rather than administrative leave, "discipline", and keeping their paid positions. useless sadists actively interfering with the work of others who want to save some lives. RIP Anthony, Gabriel, and the probably countless other little kids failed to death by the useless sadists in that useless agency.
