When George was preparing for his first stage of surgery, he was contacted by someone whose professional title with the hospital is "Gender Navigator". Over the course of the surgical process, he has appreciated that person's presence, so when they asked for his input and feedback about his process and interactions with the hospital, he was happy to answer questions and offer his thoughts. We've taken a couple of trips recently, while waiting for George's final stage of surgery. Our travels weren't without complications, as Jess got covid which almost upended one trip, and George got shingles which has postponed his surgery. If you're here, you already know that listening to queer podcasts is a good way to connect with queer community when life is busy and time or energy to engage in more active connection are inaccessible. After listening to a recent episode of Gender Reveal, George had some thoughts about his own concept of gender and how it interacts with socially-constructed concepts of gender, so we talked to you all about it. As we continue to wait for the insurance and scheduling for George's last stage of surgery, he's been busy with travel and more travel. Between visiting his sister and visiting Cousin Vinnie, he's had plenty of opportunity for ridiculous gendery nonsense. George got repairs done for his lower surgery, then did hyperbaric treatments to help the repairs stick. Transmasculine lower surgeries typically have more complications than most folks like to talk about, but we're talking anyway, because complications and all, it will have been worth it in the end. George's second stage of surgery went better than the first, thanks in large part to following it up with hyperbaric treatment. Disclaimer: Audio quality was a challenge this week. If that becomes a barrier to listening, we won't be offended if you need to skip it and come back next time.
