We made it! Reprogramming turns ONE YEAR OLD this week. When we launched on May 31st, 2023-- I had no idea the rollercoaster of emotion this little podcast would have me on: -excitement -overwhelm -frustration -gratitude -pinch-me bliss -empowerment ...the works. On today's episode, I reflect on what I've learned-- including tips and tricks for getting a podcast off the ground, what it really takes to keep it afloat, where I could have personally done better, and where I'm taking this thing in the future. (Spoiler alert: a change is gonna come!) For all my guests and listeners who made this dream possible over the past year, THANK YOU. If it's ever touched or entertained you in some way, I'd be honored if you share it with your network. Here's to another year of REPROGRAMMING the status quo! If you’re an entrepreneur or business owner, chances are you’ve heard of or have even practiced the concept of “CEO days.”  I’ll admit, when I first launched my business, I took this to mean a day or long weekend at a lavish hotel, noshing on room service, taking yourself out for a massage and cocktail, and getting creative about the next phase of your business. SOOOO SEXY, RIGHT? Well, that’s amazing, but I quickly realized in life with 2 young kids, those types of CEO days would be far and few between. For a while, I kind of gave up on the idea of it all together. Enter today’s guest, who shares the *truth* about CEO days, along with what it was like to be raised by successful entrepreneurs, how she stays blissfully booked out, and this novel idea that as a business owner, you “don’t have to be stressed out.”  Mind blowing, right?  It’s a great conversation. Rachel Meltzer is a freelance writing coach (and a freelance writer, of course). She's coached over 100 freelance writers on launching their businesses and getting clients. She's written for Lenovo, Grammarly, Loom, FarOut, Six Moon Designs, and more in the tech and outdoor recreation industries. She loves the freedom that freelancing gives her to thru-hike, live in a van, move whenever she wants, and spend time with her loyal cat, Bonnie.  CONNECT WITH RACHEL: LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/rmeltzer/ https://www.meltzerseltzer.com/
If there’s one thing I have had a nonstop passion for since the moment I became a professional, it’s the idea that the corporate workspace as we know it is archaic and outdated.  From inflexible scheduling to being forced to work in-office, the established corporate expectation no longer makes sense for the majority of employees. Back when I started my career, the thought of working remotely and on a personalized schedule was but a dream, but after the pandemic, we were shown that business could, in fact get done from wherever, and whenever it made the most sense. This new sense of possibility opened up opportunities for so many employees who thrive with a “outside the corporate box” setup. Yet, many corporate entities are ignoring these facts and attempting to have everyone settle back into the old way, causing large quantities of employees to quit that lifestyle and venture out on their own. (Spoiler alert: not the “risky” decision society might make you want to believe it is!) On today’s Reprogramming, I speak with a copywriter who realized her health and wellbeing mattered much more than fitting into a corporate mold. We discuss why many white-collar jobs are still stuck in this old way of doing business, and what life looks like on the other side, as a freelancer and small business owner.  Lisa Kissane is a freelance copywriter on a mission to make well-being services more accessible for everyone. Through her business, Silvertongue Copywriting, she supports wellbeing practitioners and organizations, specializing in sales-focused writing such as websites and emails. But, without the ick of traditional marketing methods. CONNECT WITH LISA: silvertonguecopywriting.com https://www.linkedin.com/in/lisa-kissane-💚-2b36571a9/
What if we viewed life and business through a wider lens? What if instead of shooting out a few sales emails to a new list subscriber or pushing for the $100k launch, we looked at the bigger picture, or the full lifecycle? On today's episode of Reprogramming, Shlesha Pandey teaches us about how email lifecycles can teach us something about life and business as a whole, and how it all factors into the practice of ethical marketing. You may have a big, satisfying "aha moment" at the end of the conversation, like I did! Shlesha Pandey is a seasoned strategist in lifecycle and retention marketing, with a talent for crafting campaigns that not only capture attention but also drive customer loyalty and sales. She has worked on the art of integrating strategic insight with creativity, significantly boosting revenue for numerous brands through effective lifecycle marketing. At her core, Shlesha is a storyteller and a thinker, adept at turning every email into a compelling narrative that resonates with audiences and fosters lasting customer relationships. Is balance real?  If you’re a parent with young kids and a full time job, you may have come to the realization that balance is a magical, flying unicorn you may meet one day, in some other chapter of life. Or maybe there’s a better way to approach it all- whether you have kids or not. We’ve had plenty of incredible moms on the show, but today’s guest gives us our deepest dose of reality yet.  Ashley Fabry is a wife, mom of two, and founder of Ashley Rose Branding, LLC. After nearly ten years in corporate marketing including roles in healthcare, consumer goods, and B2B; she founded her business to make a greater impact on her community.  She shares her approach to planning not one, but two very different maternity leaves while running a thriving business, plus priceless nuggets about reprogramming your expectations, tapping into your most *valuable resource* (hint- you already have it), and the phrase about balance that’s stuck with me ever since. If you’re a business owner, this episode will shift the way you think about work/life balance and what’s possible. You don’t want to miss it.  CONNECT WITH ASHLEYashleyrosebranding.com LI: Ashley (White) Fabry IG: @ashleyrosebranding
Are you a little woo-woo? Or maybe you're a little woo-hesitant. (Understandable!) Either way, you may be curious about how using it to make small shifts in your daily routine can make a noticeable difference in your life and business-- without going way off into lala land. On today’s episode of Reprogramming, I chat with Polly Clover, a former teacher- now SEO strategist and copywriter on how *ahem* reprogramming her habits and mindset with woo helped change her entire perspective. We talk about what’s just the right amount of woo vs. what’s too much… and how the online space may have taken it all a little too far. Polly Clover is an SEO Writer and Consultant. She started her business five years ago after experiencing teacher burnout. Polly helps businesses that inspire the good things in life, including wellness and travel brands and like-minded service providers, increase their organic website traffic.  Polly’s on a mission to create a business and life she loves and help other business owners do the same. Over the last five years, she has helped more than a hundred businesses use their websites to reach their goals with done-for-you, done-with-you, and DIY support.  CONNECT WITH POLLY: pollycloverwrites.com LI - Polly Clover

I was sorely mistaken when I wrote the intro for this episode of Reprogramming. When I learned I'd interview a "productivity mentor", I assumed we'd all get a needed schooling on how to make better use of our time, and maybe even some reprogramming on how we think about time. What we uncovered today is SO MUCH BETTER. This is a mindfulness discussion. This is all about presence. It's about reprogramming to what you TRULY WANT. And when all is said and done, you'll learn the REAL secret to implementation in your life and business- and it's not what you think. Join me for this incredible episode that will change the way you think about productivity and implementation forever. Louise Miller is on a mission to change the world by helping her clients change the world. She partners with coaches, consultants and community-builders who have a big, exciting vision, helping them land their ideas in reality, reach more people and make a bigger impact, whilst taking care of everything they’re juggling day-to-day and being kind to themselves along the way. Louise is a productivity mentor, the founder of Make It Happen Club and host of the Unfrazzle podcast. If I could give any advice in 2024, it would be to make the time and space to remember who you are. Remember why it is you do what you do. Why did you go into your field? What lights you up about it? What are you supremely and uniquely talented at? Digging deeper is what will set you apart. Knowing who you are will elevate you. Your personal brand is the foundation that will support you through good times and bad. On today's solo episode of Reprogramming, I share what happened when I hit my own rock bottom last year and how having a solid personal brand lifted me out of my hole of despair and into the realm of possibilities. I'll also share why it's essential to embrace pivots and evolution in your business or career. The best part about this episode? You'll be inspired to get to the bottom of who *you* are and celebrate everything you are right now. If you've been in business for any amount of time, you know there are only two certainties: 1. Taxes (ugh.) 2. Change Change is inevitable. Change is good. Change is necessary. And if you can embrace the big "C", you're going to evolve and flourish. There's power in the pivot, baby. On this episode of Reprogramming, I chat with creative director and positioning coach Hillary Weiss Presswood about her transition from copywriter to captain of the creative ship, the reprogramming she had to do on the journey, and why it's okay to be a beginner. PS: We also discuss the trials and tribulations of being a Buffalo Bills fan. Welcome, #BillsMafia. GO BILLS. Hillary Weiss Presswood is a creative director, positioning coach, and founder of Statement Piece Studio @ hillaryweiss.com.  She’s also the co-host of the cult-favorite YouTube marketing talk show Hillary and Margo Yell at Websites (#HAMYAW), and has had her work featured on Business Insider, The Next Web, The Observer, and more.  Since 2011, she’s helped thousands of brands worldwide get seen and heard (and make serious cash) through her 1-1 client work, writing, coaching, and videos. Nowadays, she’s on a mission to help more small businesses define their “statement piece”, a.k.a. the bold point of view that makes them radically relevant to their perfect people. You think you know what it means to network-- but networking is more than just showing up to an event with a nametag and an elevator pitch. These days, expanding your personal and professional network is more important than ever. The good news: relationship building doesn't have to be forced, awkward, or traditional. Today's guest is Charlotte Davies, aka Charlotte the Copywriter. She's an award-winning entrepreneur, copywriter, and TEDx speaker. She is passionate about helping business owners and copywriters to develop their own networking style so they find great-fit clients they love to work with. She is a cancer survivor, beating non-Hodgkins lymphoma in 2014.  IG: @charlottethecopywriter
Copywriting is rooted in the art of persuasion. Most copywriters are trained to use the traditional tactics of marketing, including identifying an audience's pain points and writing compelling copy to get them to take action-- usually by buying a product or service. In a post-pandemic world full of urgency, worry, and stress-- we can't help but wonder, is all of that pain point-poking necessary? Could we do without the countdown timers? Is there a spectrum in which persuasion can exist at the same time as honesty and transparency? Today's guest discusses the merits of infusing your messaging with more trust-forward copywriting, empowering and informing the audience in a healthier and more meaningful way. Ellen Bryant is a Copywriter and Brand Messaging and Voice Strategist. She helps small businesses stand out from the crowd and connect with their ideal customers through research-backed messaging and trust-forward copywriting.  With nearly 20 years of experience working across Design, Product Strategy, and MarComms, she decided to build a business that works with her life, not against it. We've all had that thought. What if I could just work from the beach in [insert dreamy destination] for a few months? For many of us, it's just a dream. But it's not impossible. Today's guest shares her story of becoming a digital nomad, transitioning into having a location-independent business, and how travel has changed her perspective on working to live instead of living to work. Rebecca Rosenberg is a conversational content writer and strategist for finance, tech, and B2B. She helps brands translate complex ideas into "human-speak" - because people won't buy from you if they don't 'get' you.  Rebecca draws on 10+ years of marketing experience to help brands connect with audiences, share their value, and expand their reach through great content. She's also a proud polyglot -someone who speaks several languages and location-independent business owner who's lived in Mexico, Chile, Germany, Spain, South Korea, and Turkey.  CONNECT WITH REBECCA: https://www.linkedin.com/in/rebeccasusanrosenberg/ http://rebeccarosenberg.net/

On today's episode of Reprogramming, we explore how to rise to the occasion of the season you're in while cultivating satisfaction in your life and business. It’s a loaded words, folks.  It’s something near and dear to my heart and brand, but it’s also a buzzword that seems to have become a parody of itself. AUTH-EN-TICITY. Aka showing up as your truest self online (or anywhere, really.) We’ve all been hammered by this idea of being authentic in your business— being yourself— being real— doing things your own way, but how does one actually embody authenticity?  (Hint: it isn’t by reminding everyone how authentic you are in every IG post.) How do you get over fear, discomfort, self consciousness, or judgement in order to tap into your own authenticity? We talk about that and more in today’s episode of Reprogramming with Lindsay Hyatt.  Our guest Julia Jornsay-Silverberg is a social media enthusiast who loves to excite, inspire and motivate people to cut through the digital clutter by being authentic and vulnerable online.  She has a diverse background working for The Buffalo News, the Buffalo Niagara Partnership, and several agencies before starting her own business, Bravery Beats. She has more than 10 years of experience working in digital marketing and is known for delivering powerful presentations that leave people feeling excited and empowered. And PS, this episode is also a love letter to Buffalo, New York. What’s it like to be a member of Gen Z: a recent grad or soon-to-be grad, entering the workforce at a (sorry) unprecedented time? Everything we’ve been sold and promised since the days of the Baby Boomers is no longer applicable. The idea that if we work hard, get good grades, and get a degree— the ideal job will be waiting for us when we begin our careers is no longer a guarantee.  We were taught that getting a good job is the key to long-term stability and growth.  But that is no longer our reality. We’re finally beginning to realize these promises are outdated and empty. Our guest today began her career in the early days of the pandemic when absolutely nothing was certain. She shares how this uncertainty shaped her perspective and her decision to go directly into self-employment, rather than spend her time competing for for lackluster jobs in the traditional market. We explore what happens when you do “everything right”, and it still doesn’t turn out the way you planned.
