We are back from the weekend with another massive Monday edition of The Nielson Show, live on Edmonton Sports Talk!   The fellas hit the desk to trade weekend stories, catch up on life, and recap everything that went down across the sporting landscape. First up, it's Morning Announcements to get you up to speed on an action-packed weekend.   After the break, we got into The Fan Zone for Northern Gauge to discuss the Oilers first preseason game and Leon Draisaitl also being outside of TSN's top 5… is that a fair rating? The boys discussed.   Like we always do, we gave our good, bad and ugly from the weekend to wrap up hour one.

We got the third hour started with Mr Mikes Kind of Easy Trivia.    It was then time for Three Questions Too Many presented by Park Mazda.   Mike Garafolo was the final guest on today's show. He joined the show to give his thoughts on last night's game as well as to preview a good chunk of the games in NFL Week 2 on Sunday.   It's Friday, which means it's the fan favourite Sobeys & Safeway Liquor Beer of The Week! TSN Hockey Insider Chris Johnston led off today's show to break down the key storylines surrounding the Edmonton Oilers as training camp opens. Chris shared his perspective on whether Edmonton enters the season as a legitimate Stanley Cup contender and analyzed how this roster stacks up against last year's squad. To close out the segment, he provided the latest updates on the situation involving Connor Hellebuyck and the Winnipeg Jets.   We then gave our Early Bird Bet presented by Play Alberta.   After the break, we got into MMMMMM That's Good presented by The Italian Centre Shop. In this segment we played Mike Babcock's media avail from yesterday and after, the boys shared their thoughts. This brought the fellas to the end of hour two.

The fellas open up the show by catching up on life and sports after a little time apart before jumping straight into a massive slate of sports talk which was presented by The Rundle Park Short Course.   After the first mediocre sports update from Trev, we got into The Fan Zone for Morning Gauge to discuss yesterday's line at day one of skating camp.   We finished off hour one like we always do on a Friday's show by Cracking Some Packs powered by Wayne's Sports Cards & Collectables.

Who will win the elusive mitt today?    Frank Seravalli closed out today's show to break down the biggest headlines entering the new NHL season. Frank kicked things off with his perspective on the ongoing situation with Connor Hellebuyck before shifting the focus straight to Oil Country. He analyzed whether Mike Babcock has already put his personal stamp on the locker room, identified who he sees as the ultimate X-factor for Edmonton, and weighed in on whether the Oilers remain true Stanley Cup contenders. To cap off a packed segment, Frank provided his expert take on whether Evan Bouchard will continue to flourish under Babcock's system.   We finished the show like we always do with The Wrap from William Huff.
