Description

I am thrilled to welcome you to a podcast version of Teachings and Doctrines of the Book of Mormon. It is one of the four cornerstone classes that all young single adults are asked to complete. This particular course is designed to help students use a different approach to studying the Book of Mormon: instead of studying the book sequentially (in order); we will study the book topically. The lessons found in this course focus on prominent doctrinal themes emphasized by the inspired authors of the Book of Mormon. We will focus on three main themes: 1) What the Book of Mormon adds to our understanding of Christ. 2) The Book of Mormon was written for our day and addresses the problems we face today. And 3) The plain and precious truths lost from the Bible and restored by the Book of Mormon

Welcome to Teachings and Doctrines of the Book of Mormon, podcast version. In this episode, I explain the basics of this class and how to participate.
The Book of Mormon has a problem! A dilemma. You are the solution.
What does the Book of Mormon reaveal about Him of whom it is a major witness? Part one: A one-by-one God.
The Book or Mormon explains WHY Christ atoned and WHAT He accomplished.
Far too many members of the Church have faith in Christ, but lack hope. Understanding that we qualify for salvation by progressing grace for grace brings that hope.
We begin Topic #2: The Book of Mormon was written for our day. The enemies of faith in the Book of Mormon are like the enemies trying to destory our faith today. From them we can learn to protect ourselves today.
One of the Savior's great concerns in the latter days is that we are often Noah blind. The placement of that warning in a prominent place in the Book of Mormon illustrates His great concern. The Book of Mormon not only demonstates the problem, but offers solutions.
The war chapters in the Book of Mormon are a pattern of the war that began in heaven. Amalickiah is a type of Satan and reveals Satan's strategy and technique for conquering our souls.
The Nephites had all power over the Lamanites until they made 2 major mistakes and opened the front door. We make the same 2 mistakes today.
In this challenging world with so many seeking our descruction, our modern-day presevation will be as miraculous as that of the strippling warriors, if we do what they did.
The days before the coming of Christ to the Americas is a pattern of the days befor His Second Coming. The Book of Helaman decribes the challenges the Latter-day Saints will face in the days ahead and how to succeed.
The Book of Helaman suggests that prior to the Second Coming, the righteous will have to deal with secret combinations; or perhaps one great secret combination. What might it be and how will righteous parents be able to protect their children today and in the days ahead.
The Book of Helaman suggests that prior to the Second Coming, the righteous will have to deal with pride and prosperity as well as pain. In this episode, we examine the pride cycle and find shortcuts to avoid pride and sin.
Like Prosperity, Pain presents us with the same two choices: Humility or Pride. Nephi and Laman illustrate those two choices. Both passed through difficult trials, but respond very differently.
What was Satan trying to accomplish in the Garden of Eden? The Book of Mormon reveals his plan and understanding what God did to stop him will change your life.
The Restoration has brought back the essential understanding of opposition in our lives and how the Atonement of Christ overcomes every pain that comes into our lives because of the Fall.

Listening to these has been amazing! My dad told me about your podcast and I'm so glad he did. I hope you make more episodes in the future and thank you for sharing so many insights into the Book of Mormon that I had never considered. There were parts from each lesson that hit me straight in the heart.
