We are continuing our miniseries where we pay tribute to one of my favorite podcasts, Revisionist History, hosted by the well-known author Malcolm Gladwell. Gladwell describes Revisionist History as a podcast about things overlooked and misunderstood. There are many injuries or problems we see in the office or on the sidelines that patients, parents, coaches, and even health care professionals give a generic label or diagnosis. In some situations, it may be correct, but often things get lumped into a simple category which may lead to things not being treated or managed most effectively. He completed his residency at Children’s Mercy Hospital Kansas City, followed by a pediatric sports medicine fellowship at Texas Children’s Hospital.  After fellowship, he served as a general pediatrician and sports medicine physician in central Kansas before returning to Children’s Mercy as faculty in 2017. He attended medical school at the Medical College of Georgia, completed a residency in Pediatrics at the University of Virginia, and a fellowship in Primary Care Sports Medicine at the American Sports Medicine Institute. He has served as a team physician for the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons for 14 years and a team physician for the MLB’s Atlanta Braves for 8 years. He is also head team physician for several Atlanta high schools and has covered a variety of sporting events from SEC Championship football games to national swim meets. Dr. Webb takes care of patients of all ages, but specializes in the care of the adolescent athlete. He is co-director of Emory’s Youth Sports Medicine Program and his research interest is in youth sports injury prevention.
