Duke has to put this past weekend’s heartbreaking loss behind them, as they travel to take on Pitt and fellow Brotherhood member Jeff Capel on Tuesday night. We preview the game against the Panthers on DBR Bites #142. We do go back to the court storming briefly to get an update on the staffer that was injured, with audio from head coach Jon Scheyer from the weekly ACC press conference. We then proceed with previewing the Pitt game, and Pitt has not been great this season. The metrics show where their flaws are, and we hear from Jeff Capel on the rebounding matchup between his team and Duke. We then get to some of the players that Pitt has, though a couple of the guys they rely on the most are out due to injury. Finally, we end with the things to watch as we hope to get Duke back in the win column tomorrow night. Make sure you’re following us! Ugh... for 39 minutes, 59 seconds, and 6-tenths of a second, Duke was controlling Carolina... and then Seth Trimble had his moment. The Duke Basketball Roundup has a full breakdown of the dispiriting loss to the Tar Heels. But, you won't catch Jason and Donald wallowing in anger or frustration at the refs, the court storming, or other excuses. Instead, the DBR Pod crew is focused on how Duke gets better from this moment on. What lessons were learned in this contest and how does Duke avoid the kind of late-game meltdowns that have led to each of the team's losses this year? There were plenty of positive takeaways from the contest and many reasons to still think this Duke team can do some pretty special stuff that will cause this loss to quickly fade from our memory.   Learn more about your ad choices. We’re doubling our preview of the Duke-UNC game! On Episode 794, we welcome back Jay Bilas to break down the matchup between the Blue Devils and the Tar Heels. We start on the UNC side, and Jay tells us what’s made their bigs so successful and where UNC will have to perform well if they want to knock off Duke. Caleb Wilson and Henri Veesaar have been performing well, but who else can be a X-factor? Jay gives us his unique perspective. We then shift to Duke, and Jay provides us with his thoughts on what Duke needs to do in order to walk out of the Dean Dome with the win and the bragging rights. The defense needs to be there and he’s not as concerned with the shooting. He also discusses whether Jon Scheyer will ever get the coaching recognition he deserves in the form of end of year awards. When Jay Bilas is on the pod, we listen because we know his thoughts are going to be good!! Make sure you’re following us! The Duke Blue Devils were able to hold Boston College at arm’s length with a 67-49 victory. We discuss the win on Episode 793. After some fun headlines, we get into the stuff Duke did well, from the 13-0 start to the suffocating defense holding BC under 50 points. Cam Boozer is doing some historic things, and we have to talk about the latest stat that will have your jaw drop. The 3 point shooting gets some mention as the team can finally look towards Saturday night. Any coach will tell you, you take all opponents seriously. So, just because Boston College is (again) one of the worst teams in the ACC, it does not mean the DBR podcast will fail to provide a detailed preview of what the Eagles bring into Cameron. Jason and Donald break down everything you need to know about BC, including some truly amazing statistics involving free-throw shooting and mid-range jumpers. These stats are going to really wow you! After the break, the guys also look at how the ACC is shaping up in terms of NCAA tourney bids. It is still early, but this could be a nice return to form for the league with around half the league getting into the Big Dance. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
Duke took care of business against a game Virginia Tech squad on Saturday, and the Duke Basketball Roundup crew has poured over the tape and scoured the stats to give you a full breakdown of everything that happened in the latest Duke victory. The Blue Devils had to battle through a bug that is impacting multiple players in this contest, and a special shout out needs to be given to Caleb Foster, who went from the injury report to having the best rebounding game of his career. Jason and Donald also spend time talking about the dominance of Duke on the inside as Duke continues to blast teams in the key points in the paint metric. Have a listen to the pod... and be ready for a lot lot more content over the next week in the runup to a certain game next weekend.  Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

The lawsuit that everyone has been talking about is over. Duke University and Darian Mensah finalized a settlement that would allow each to go their separate ways, and we discuss it on DBR Bites #138. Jason and Donald discuss what the settlement means for all parties and how it will affect Duke Football moving forward. Donald discusses why a settlement was always the most likely result and what it could mean for NIL deals at Duke and elsewhere. Darian Mensah - and Cooper Barkate - have both moved on, committing to Miami last night. Now, the focus turns to the players that remain as they start the preparations for the 2026 season. We also get into the 2026 Duke Football schedule, which was released on Monday night. Duke has a loaded schedule, but champions always get tested in the season after they win. We look at the difficult points of the schedule and hope the team uses everything that’s happened as motivation to defend their ACC title. Make sure you’re following us! Guess who is back? Jason has returned from Africa with tales of gorilla sightings and tea farming. But for his first episode back, the DBR Podcast doesn't even mention the word "basketball" because the guys are all about the lawsuit Duke has filed to keep Darian Mensah from fleeing via the transfer portal. Luckily, in a legal matter like this we happen to already have a lawyer on staff in Donald Wine. Listen in as Donald uses his legal expertise to guide you through everything you need to know about Duke Football v. Darian Mensah. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
We're back with another DBR Bites as we continue to discuss the ramifications of Darian Mensah entering the transfer portal at the 11th hour, leaving Duke having to answer a ton of questions about who will be their starting quarterback next season. Donald is joined by Scott Rich to have a more in depth discussion, breaking down several points about his departure and what it means for Duke, the ACC, and college football as a whole. As Duke decides on what it will do, we examine several options and what they could mean to the success of the Duke program, from contract enforcement to burning bridges to whether this could prompt the NCAA to step in and provide further regulation on NIL deals. The Duke Blue Devils demolished the Stanford Cardinal 80-50 on Saturday evening. Donald and Scott Rich return to recap everything on Episode 788. Duke got it done by dominating the paint and with suffocating defense. We go through all the things that the Blue Devils did well to smother Stanford. They took Ebuka Okorie out of the game and they didn’t let anyone else beat them. On offense, Cam Boozer led the charge, but Duke controlling the paint and getting to their spots allowed them to start out quickly and never look back. We also get into the things that hopefully will improve from this game as well as discuss our plays of the game and player of the week honors. Duke becomes just the 2nd team since Cal and Stanford entered the ACC to go west and win both games, so we’re certainly happy about that! Make sure you’re following us! What a gut punch! With just hours before the window closed, Duke quarterback Darian Mensah has decided to enter the transfer portal, and in all likelihood will be headed to play for Miami. It’s a short emergency DBR Bites #135 as Donald flies solo to discuss it for a few minutes. Of course, Donald has the unique perspective as a Duke and Miami Law alum. So, we try to parse through the emotion in part to figure out what’s next for Duke after this news. It’s not great for the program to see their quarterback leave just a couple weeks after he announced that he was staying at Duke. It certainly throws a lot more questions into the roster and whether Duke can continue to hold onto players before the transfer portal entry window closes. There’s also Mensah’s contract that included Duke exclusively hanging onto his NIL rights. There are a ton more questions, but we will be back later this weekend to make more sense of this. The Duke Blue Devils remain in the Bay Area on their West Coast road trip, and a date looms tomorrow against the Stanford Cardinal. Donald and Scott Rich preview the upcoming game on DBR Bites #134. Stanford is doing well this season, and they are coming off an upset win on Wednesday night against UNC. Duke hopes to buck the trend of ACC teams failing to go 2-0 on their Bay Area road trips, and Donald and Scott go through how they can do that with a win against the Cardinal. Rebounding will be a key, but also they need to figure out how to stop Ebuka Okorie, who had a career night against the Tar Heels and is one of the best players in the country. After the preview, the NCAA may have done something right! They have changed the dates of the transfer portal for men’s basketball, women’s basketball, and men’s hockey, and it will now open the day after the national championship games for those sports. We discuss the NCAA finally doing the bare minimum in shifting the portal dates so it doesn’t make coaches have to try and recruit during the NCAA Tournament. Make sure you’re following us! The Duke Blue Devils got another win on the road, taking out the Cal Golden Bears in ACC After Dark action. Donald and Scott Rich recap everything on Episode 787. The Blue Devils had another slow start, but they were able to work hard defensively to stifle the Bears. And, they were able to control the paint, scoring inside in the 2nd half to pull away. Duke also got some solid play from players in ways that don’t always show up on a stat sheet, and that was the difference in seeing the team pull away down the stretch. We get into the stuff to work on and we also get into the play of the game by Isaiah Evans, but we couple it with another play where the sequence creating a successful play for Duke that broke the spirits of the Cal fans in attendance. The Duke Blue Devils were able to hold off the SMU Mustangs, winning 82-75 on Saturday afternoon to move to 15-1 on the season and 4-0 in the ACC. Donald and Scott Rich recap everything about a perplexing game on Episode 786. The Blue Devils did great in certain aspects defensively, and got some great performances from Cayden Boozer and Pat Ngongba even as they moved into a bench role for this game. We talk about all the other things that went well from this game, from forcing turnovers to Isaiah Evans and Cam Boozer leading the charge offensively. We also discuss the things to improve from this game, which was other parts of the defense and learning how to close out games where we have the lead. Heel fan. I will admit that I started to get a lump in my throat during the post game. Even though I don't like Duke but the rivalry and college basketball will never be the same.
