Description

At 52, I found myself facing a life-altering diagnosis: prostate cancer, quickly followed by the realization it had spread to my spine. A man's journey often follows unexpected paths, and mine led to a battle against stage 4 malignant adenocarcinoma.

I wanted to understand this enemy inside me so I started reading, made dietary changes, created anti-cancer recipes, and started leaning on a newfound community of support.

They say all men will face this battle if they live long enough. My journey began earlier than most, but the road to recovery is one we'll explore together. Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/pctrtr/support

I know a little more than I did last time. Adam and I talk about lifestyle changes in living with prostate cancer and mental health during and after treatment. As a reminder, if you are a biological male 40 years or older, get your PSA checked. If your number is above 1.0, consider getting it checked again a few months later and trend that number. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/pctrtr/support

It's tough pushing through this wall of fatigue and showing up everyday and today I'm not able to go to the place and do the stuff. So, I'm going to take a day, work from home, and rest. It's important to take care of ourselves. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/pctrtr/support
This is an episode I did despite being in the middle of a bad morning/day. I've struggled today and recently due to being sick as well as due to treatment. It's winter and it's cloudy more often which further impacts my already degraded mood. Frustrating times. But, we talk about the positives as well, the things that get us through these times. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/pctrtr/support

In this non-episode, I read a story I wrote. When I was diagnosed, I wrote part 1. When I was going through the scans to see how bad it was and during the wait for treatment to start, I wrote part 2. Once I started treatment and had processed my new normal, I wrote part 3. Also in this at the start and the end are some updates on my situation and how I'm doing. We delve into healthy fats, safe meat consumption, and the importance of a balanced diet with quality proteins and carbs. Lastly, we address the risks of harmful chemicals in food packaging. Join me to explore how these nutritional choices can aid in our cancer journey. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/pctrtr/support
I was diagnosed with aggressive metastasized prostate cancer at 52 years old. On this podcast, we talk about it. This episode is about some information someone was spreading on a social media forum. It really stuck with me because if anyone actually took their advice, well... it wouldn't be good. Social media and the internet are dangerous because people can say anything they want and convince others that they are right with little to no evidence. Many times, we see facts taken out of context or simply mis-used in order to support a desired perspective or outcome. It's a crazy place out there. Be careful. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/pctrtr/support
I was diagnosed with aggressive metastasized prostate cancer at 52 years old. On this podcast, we talk about it. In this episode, we provide an update on Glenn, our last guest, on me, and we talk about what PSA doubling time is and what it means and why it's important. We also talk about the biopsy process. A guy going through a biopsy wasn't well informed on what would happen and - well - he was more than surprised. It's important to understand the process, what happens, and what to expect after the biopsy. So, we talk about it. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/pctrtr/support
In this interview with my friend, Glenn, we talk about his sudden and extreme onset of prostate cancer going from an undetectable PSA to 900 in just months. I talk with a friend and co-worker who underwent a radical prostatectomy back in 2011 and now has a recurrence. My experience and initial back pain led him to get his PSA checked, revealing he may have prostate cancer again, 12 years after his prostate was removed. Though his level is only 0.4, it's high considering he doesn't have a prostate. He's facing another diagnosis of prostate cancer but is now armed with new knowledge. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/pctrtr/support
