After serving as church musicians for 25 years, we share insider insight into the techniques that can make a room feel deeply spiritual, even when something very different may be happening. Pentecostal worship culture often teaches that losing control is proof the Holy Spirit is moving, and David’s dance seems to be their main justification. Pentecostal ‘Dread Talks’ about hell aren’t just intense, they’re often completely hopeless, designed to keep believers terrified and uncertain about salvation. Prayer is a beautiful privilege in Scripture. But high-control, Pentecostal churches often twist it into a quota, a ritual, and a fear-based performance.
