While deer season is closed, this is not the time to slack off. Happy to have Austin Stone of Tactical Approach Outdoors back on the podcast alongside with our trusty host, Carter. In this episode both Carter and Austin talk about their off season plans and what actions they are taking to improve their hunting properties. The list of things to do are not short and can feel like a bit of a science experiment. Luckily, Austin has decades of experience and can help you maximize your odds.
We are so back. The weather is turning and those thunder chickens are looking mighty good. Stoked to have team member and mustache connoisseur Forest Chap on the podcast this week. Carter and Forest spend this time to catch up with each other, talk about life updates, and discuss what the future holds for them in their personal, professional, and hunting life.
We are back and better than ever thanks to the wise words from our special guest today, Dr. Ben Page. Ben is a Doctor of Chiropractic medicine and the host of the "Wellness Farmer" podcast where he talks about how holistic eating has changed his life from 'burnout' to breakthrough. In this episode, Carter and Ben talk about ways that they have changed their daily routine through holistic means and the positive change that has come with it.
Luke is back home in Wyoming after spending a few weeks on the road and going to trade shows. He is joined by our trusty, loyal steed, Carter McKenzie, aka - the reborn of Robert Duvall (RIP). The boys don't have an agenda for this episode but are spending time catching up with each other as if they were on the phone. Any entrepreneur knows that starting a business is not for the weakhearted. Luke knows this better than most as he gives us a deep dive into the good, the bad, and the ugly of starting and maintaining a small business.
If anyone can keep track of how many times Kerri says "yeah" or "man", we would love to know what the final tally is. Welcome back to another episode of the Hunt Lift Eat Podcast. This episode is going to be a mix of topics -- we realized too late that the podcast bank was empty and we needed to wing thing one. But that's pretty on par for us and it seems to keep working somehow.
The Whitetail season has just come to end and we are all suddenly finding ourselves sitting at home wondering what to do next. Well boy do we have some good news for you -- Its time to start getting ready for the next whitetail season. We're stoked to have Austin Stone back on the podcast to help guide us through what we should be focusing on in the off season and how to better manage your deer and property. Understanding where to place stands, climbers, food plots, and everything else can help you attract and keep deer on your land. Austin Stone is an expert in everything that is whitetail habitat management and this is an episode you should not skip.
Do y'all see that? Looks like a wild Kerri is back from whichever sabbatical he was taking this time. Welcome back to another episode of the Hunt Lift Eat podcast. This week we are focusing on off-season prep - specifically the things we can be doing to get ready for next deer season. Take note of what worked this past season, what didn't work, and start to create a plan to mitigate those risks. It can be physical, spiritual, picking your bow up more, learning more about feeding patterns, and so much more. The important thing to do is address those weaknesses rather than ignoring them.
You never forget that first deer. Everyone has the story and cannot help but smile when they recount the moment. This week, Carter is at the helm and is joined by our podcast manager, Cole, and have their good friend Keenan on the podcast to talk about his first deer that he shot this past season. Spoiler alert - He got a dandy of a buck. Probably the biggest deer that most of us have seen let alone have been successful in shooting. A nice 10 point and big bodied Georgia whitetail - one that any of us would proudly mount on the wall and recant for the rest of our lives.
Did y'all know that our host, Carter McKenzie, is a certified fitness coach? I mean, he certified himself but that still counts, right? Welcome back to another episode of the Hunt Lift Eat podcast with ours hosts, Carter & Luke, who are fresh off of a rough season on Brokeback mountain. They are talking about fitness this week, specifically taking a deep dive into your energy systems. We are faced with three different energy systems and they all serve a different purpose depending on what type of workout we are doing. By understanding the type of energy systems we are targeting during our workout, we can better prepare and recover ourselves through nutrition, hydration, rest, and much more.
Join us this week with our two trusty steeds at the helm of the podcast. As the whitetail season draws near its end, we wanted to take a moment and talk about it in depth. And we mean everything -- The good, the bad, and the ugly. Following after that, Luke gives a good state of the union and lets us in on the moves that HLE is making and what his vision is going into 2026.
For the first part of the episode description we usually say something funny, like Luke's salt and pepper beard. But this is an episode that we are so excited to release. While the Wyoming boys were on their western expedition, Luke was sitting on a few tags himself. And it wasn't until the boys tagged out that he starting looking for a deer himself. And not just a road forky, but a mule deer that makes you stop in your tracks and say "Damn, now THAT is a mule deer". And to add to the Mule deer success, less than 48 hours earlier, the boys quite literally stumbled into a herd of elk. A quick trip back into town for an OTC tag and a well executed 850 yard shot made for a long night. This is for sure a series of stories that you do not want to miss.
Oh no, it's these goobers again. Welcome back to another episode of the Hunt Lift Eat podcast. Our handsome host is joined again by Cole & John as they continue the saga of their western hunt for the elusive mule deer. This episode has an emphasis on John's journey as this was his first western and mule deer hunt. John is an avid whitetail hunter and the change of scenery was a learning experience.
Welcome back to the first episode of 2026. This week we are serenaded by the soothing voices of both Carter and Luke as they discuss some new years resolutions - A change from our typical hunting discussions. The boys talk about new years resolutions, why waiting until January to set new goals could be setting your self up for failure, and the path ahead for both our hosts.

EP 244: Them Wyoming Boys

Oh no, it's them Wyoming boys again. And most of them aren't even from Wyoming. Welcome back to another of episode of the Hunt Lift Eat podcast. We have a stacked crew for this episode and the boys are stocked to share this multi series release over the next few weeks talking about how some whitetail hunters tried their hand at some Wyoming mule deer.
It finally happened and we are here to really talk about it. Welcome back to another episode of the Hunt Lift Eat podcast. In this episode, Carter and Luke get into all the details and work that it took for Luke to finally punch his first bull elk tag. This has been a hunt that Luke has been on many times, but the opportunity just never presented itself. Not this time -- This time Luke was finally able to punch the tag, forgo the tag soup, and stock his freezer to the brim.
We are back and better than ever after a little thanksgiving R&R. It is with great pleasure to introduce Outdoor Colorado, a non-profit, which has an emphasis on youth outdoors. This was a long time dream of Frank Villa Sr., as well as the both Josh and Frank Jr. and their family. Outdoor Colorado has a concentration in bringing the outdoors, including both hunting and fishing, to the youth of their community, the state and the nation. Frank Villa Sr. spent his life expressing the importance of being an ambassador to the great outdoors. Frank Villa Sr. also taught how important it is to share our experiences as outdoorsman, anglers, and hunters with not only our own kids but to all youth. The mission at Outdoor Colorado is to share those experiences by taking the youth into the outdoors and teaching them about conservation, morals, ethics and the responsibilities of being a good sportsman in our world today.
It has been a heck of a couple weeks but we are so stoked to introduce and have Gaven Swinson from Gila Monster Outdoors. Gaven is the founder, owner, CEO, COO, Production Manager, Cameraman, and Audio Engineer for Gila Monster Outdoors - yes, he owns the company. An avid outdoorsman, Gaven has probably spent more days in the outdoors than you can imagine. He has a passion not only for hunting, but capturing those moments on film. Having joined many clients for hunts, Gaven consistently has a smile on his face regardless of the extra 40 pounds he lugs around.
Welcome back to another episode of the Hunt Lift Eat Podcast. I know, we are just surprised as you to see Luke back in the saddle playing co-host. We are excited to have Kelsey Rae Morris with us! Kelsey is an artist and outdoor enthusiast, hanging her hat in Three Forks Montana. A lifetime artist, Kelsey didn't open her artwork business until 2018 being influenced by wildlife and Western landscapes. You can find all of Kelsey's artwork on her website at www.kraeartworks.com
Don't get us wrong, we love Luke Cox, but we did miss the sweet sweet voice of Carter McKenzie. Welcome back to another episode of the Hunt Lift Eat podcast. Carter is back in the saddle and we are stoked to have Jaden Bales joining us this week. Jaden comes from a family of western hunters and spent a good amount of time hunting mule deer on the family farm in eastern Oregon. It wasn't until he moved away that he realized how tough it was to start from scratch to go hunting out west. Jaden founded the company "Hunt West" to help people understand the entire logistical production that goes behind the scenes when planning a hunt out west.
