My boy is growing! What the heck?! It's so cool to how fast these little infants grow into toddlers...and I really, truly mean it when I say that it's in the blink of an eye. Dads, please try to put the phone down, eliminate all distractions, and be there to see these milestones. It's unfortunate we cannot be there for the first time they achieve said milestone(s), but we can ensure that we're present when available to be. Take care.
In this ONE HUNDREDTH episode, I own up to my own crap. I haven't published an episode in 17 days, and that's unacceptable.
In this episode, I just speak how it is man. I'm so effing burnt out from everything going in life. Nothing has seemed to help, so here I am on my own podcast, being vulnerable, and showing the audience--you guys--what my life is like right now. You want authentic Kevin? You got it. In today's and the FIRST PowerHour episode of New Dad City, Kevin and Eric talk about the following: The misconception that achieving "balance" is the key to fulfillment, which often leads to frustration and feeling stretched too thin across personal and professional life. The ultimate dream is to lead a fulfilling life, achieving long-term goals and success through the practice of delayed gratification, without the constant stress of trying to balance everything perfectly. Realizing that true success and fulfillment come from mastering the art of delayed gratification, not from seeking an elusive balance. Implementing the principles of understanding sacrifice, prioritization, and embracing delayed gratification leads to more meaningful achievements and satisfaction in both personal and professional spheres. In this episode of our podcast, Eric starts off with a candid discussion about his experience with his "back-talking" son and the strategies he used to address his mouthy behavior. The conversation takes a deeper turn as I open up about a recent argument my wife and I had over finances. I admit to treating her more like a child than a partner, allocating her an "allowance" rather than sharing our income as truly ours. This approach highlighted my reluctance to fully merge our financial lives, a stance that, upon reflection, revealed a superiority complex on my part. I share the moment of vulnerability when I decided to hand over the responsibility of family budgeting and finances to my wife. Her reaction was unexpected yet enlightening; she accepted without fuss, expressing her long-held desire to be more involved in our relationship. Her admission of feeling sidelined and my realization of my belittling attitude opened up a new chapter for us, one where mutual respect and shared responsibilities are foundational. Furthermore, we explore the importance of couples discussing their values, both before and after marriage. This episode is a journey through the complexities of family dynamics, the pitfalls of competing instead of working as a team in marriage, and the transformative power of open communication and shared values. Join us as we navigate the challenges of parenting mouthy kids, redefining marriage as a true partnership, and overcoming personal flaws to foster a stronger, more equitable relationship. In this episode, I dive into the whirlwind of change and challenge I’ve encountered in my new role at RDU Airport. Stepping into the bustling world of busier air traffic control, I've found myself at the center of what feels like a complete rewiring of my brain. The pace is relentless, and every day is a test of endurance and adaptability. My trainer, Buddy, a man of simple means but strict discipline, has been guiding me through this gauntlet with a long leash and a firm grip on the rulebook. Navigating this transition hasn't been smooth sailing. Adapting to busier ATC operations has been like learning to walk again, questioning the foundations I was taught at my last facility. I’ll share a particularly humbling moment when I directed an aircraft to the incorrect runway, a mistake that unveiled a surprising method of learning: through shame. Buddy's light-hearted jest that I learn best when I'm shamed struck a chord, revealing a truth about how making mistakes - and owning them - can be a powerful motivator for growth. And amidst the personal and professional upheaval, there's Eric. His reaction to my new work environment - where camaraderie prevails and office politics are at a minimum - hinted at an unexpected jealousy. Tune in as I reflect on these transformative experiences, the lessons learned in the face of embarrassment, and the subtle dynamics of workplace relationships. -- Track: "Tough Guy", Smooth Beats Music provided by https://Slip.stream Free Download/Stream: https://get.slip.stream/TA620l Listen on Spotify: https://go-stream.link/sp-smooth-beats
In this compelling new episode of "New Dad City," titled "095. Eric H: Is There Such A Thing As 'Balance'?", we sit down with Eric H, my business partner and occasional co-host, for an introspective look into the elusive quest for balance in life. Eric candidly shares his journey through the demanding world of entrepreneurship, the deep sense of responsibility he feels as a father, and the relentless pursuit of success that often leaves him questioning the real meaning of balance. As a father who has built a substantial real estate portfolio and achieved financial independence at an impressively young age, Eric seems to have it all. Yet, beneath the surface of success lies a constant struggle with the guilt of not being "enough" for his family. His story is a raw and emotional exploration of the sacrifices required to chase a dream, the impact of those choices on family life, and the internal conflict that comes with striving for greatness while striving to be present. "Is there such thing as balance?" Eric ponders, as he navigates the phases of life—from the grind to giving back, from financial freedom to the freedom of choice. Yet, even with the ability to do anything he wants, Eric finds himself caught in a cycle of hard work, driven by a desire to leave a legacy and make a meaningful impact on other American families through real estate education. This episode delves into the heartache of realizing that professional achievements can sometimes come at a personal cost. From celebrating his children's birthdays to facing health scares, Eric's reflections offer a poignant look at the real price of success and the ongoing quest for a balanced life. Join us for an honest and thought-provoking discussion that challenges the conventional narrative of work-life balance and invites us to reconsider our priorities. This episode is a must-listen for anyone juggling the demands of work, family, and personal aspirations, seeking insights on how to navigate these waters with grace and purpose. In this exclusive solo podcast, Eric shares his experience with dealing with a parent with lower standards than his at his son's gymnastics competition. This episode is so, so powerful and it truly got me fired up.

I've been saying I was gonna do this episode for MONTHS, so here it finally is.
Your kids grow up faster than you know. My parents told me this over and over, and I didn't understand it. "Walk and mile in my shoes..." has never hit harder. It is so wild how fast my son has grown and changed. The evolution I've taken as a father is something I never saw coming. I am so happy and grateful for the life I have today.
