It's strength that chooses to hold back. The world says grasp for power. But Jesus — with all of heaven at his fingertips — held it back for us. That's the gospel. And that's what we're unpacking in today's episode by Christie Thomas."Let your gentleness be evident to all. The King of Kings took the posture of a beggar. And His disciples were watching.Your kids are watching too.Today's episode by Nicolet Bell reminds us that prayer doesn't have to be formal or perfectly scheduled. It can happen in the living room while someone's picking up toys and a baby is in the bouncy seat. That's not a small thing. LINKS:Join the Patreon Community today! Download the Easter Family DevotionalFollow Everyday Prayers @MillionPrayingMoms A Prayer to Understand Joy, Glory & Suffering by Nicolet Bell If we were honest for a second, we could all agree that motherhood comes with seasons of suffering. The sleepless nights. The worry that doesn't turn off. The relationships that are harder than you expected. The dreams you quietly set aside. The feeling that you're giving everything and still coming up short. It doesn't always feel like the kind of suffering people write about in theology books. But it's real. And it's heavy. This week's episode reminds us that Jesus didn't just acknowledge our suffering. He prayed for us in the middle of it. In John 17, on the night before the cross, He asked the Father for us to one day share in His glory.Your suffering is not invisible. It's not meaningless. And according to Romans 8:17, it's actually connecting you to something far greater than you can see right now. This episode is for the mom who is tired, who is in a hard season, who needs to be reminded that the joy coming is worth the suffering you're carrying today. Reference: John 17:22-24 Prayer: Father, we may never understand the connectedness of joy, glory and suffering. We so often want to share in your glory without sharing in your suffering. You sent your son, Jesus, to suffer on my behalf. He who knew no sin became sin so that we might become the righteousness of God. Thank you for this indescribable gift. When the way ahead seems uncertain, we know and believe that our suffering is never in vain and that you never leave us alone. Give us your strength to endure. In Jesus name, Amen. Download the Easter Family DevotionalFollow Everyday Prayers @MillionPrayingMoms A Prayer for Unity by Nicolet Bell When did you last pray for unity? Not just wish for it. Actually pray for it.Jesus did. Repeatedly. And He tied it directly to people coming to know Him.Today's episode is a challenge for all of us to stop dismissing unity as an impossible goal and start asking God boldly for it — in the hard places, with the hard people.I think it'll challenge you too. Reference: John 17:21 Prayer: Father, help us to value unity in the way that Jesus did. When disunity seems to be winning the day, may we be comforted that nothing is too hard for you. You are not a God of chaos, but of peace. Help us to seek unity in our homes, our communities, our churches, our workplaces, and to pray bold prayers of unity for the world like Jesus did. Mainly, I want to be unified with you. I want to become more and more like you, sharing in your fellowship which I’ve been invited into. I thank you for this great gift. In Jesus’ name, Amen. In today's episode, Nicolet Bell shares John 17:20. Right before the cross, Jesus lifted his eyes to the Father and prayed — not just for the disciples in the room — but for every person who would one day believe through their message. That includes you. That includes the people you're praying for right now.Is there someone on your heart today? A child who has walked away, a family member who has never believed, someone who has hurt you?Know this: as deeply as you long for them, Jesus longs for them more. He is interceding on their behalf right now. Reference: John 17:20 Prayer: Father, we pray for those in our life who do not know you. Whether it is a dear family member or a stranger we encounter on our way, would you give us eyes to see those who you’ve put in front of us who need you and hearts that come to you in prayer on their behalf. Download the Easter Family DevotionalFollow Everyday Prayers @MillionPrayingMoms A Call to Pray for Others by Nicolet Bell Jesus didn't pray about his disciples from a distance. He stopped, he saw them, and he interceded for them. That's the kind of prayer we're called to.In today's episode, we see that Jesus prays something that might surprise you — he asks the Father not to take his followers out of the world, but to guard them in it. Because the hard stuff isn't wasted. Any suffering we face can work for our good and His glory. Who has God placed in your life right now that needs you to show up for them in prayer? Reference: John 17:8-10 Prayer: Father, let us not neglect the power of praying for those you have placed in our lives. I confess that I so often want to do something to help or to "fix" a situation. Today, I rest in the truth that prayer is my first and best response. I believe that prayer has the power to make a difference for my loved ones, but I so often neglect bringing requests for others to you. Help me today to allow my belief in the power of prayer fuel the prayers that I bring before you on behalf of those that I love. In Jesus' name, amen.
