Description

If you had to grab two things from a burning building, what would you choose?

Co-hosted by Jack Riewoldt and Shane McCurry, TWO AM I is redefining modern leadership, one convo at a time. We invite extraordinary individuals to tell their story through two objects. Big or small, trinket or treasure. Two things that explain who they are, and what matters to them.

Think of us like a supermarket for knowledge: tune in, grab what you need, then apply it in your everyday life. From sports champs to journalists. Builders to coaches. CEOs to musos. These are the fresh takes on leadership that don’t usually make the headlines.

This episode discusses difficult themes and mentions of suicide and self-harm. If you or someone you know needs support, please contact Lifeline on 13 11 14 or beyondblue.orgTim Rogers is a presence. Both on and off stage. You may be aware of his illustrious career in music and entertainment spanning four decades. Although he may be the iconic frontman who is instantly recognisable and bears the most criticism, he does not consider himself the leader, but a member who knows his place in the group. But behind that on stage persona is a highly introspective, curious and intelligent individual, who champions the power of noticing, which is reflected in his music and art. Through fiction books, putting pen to paper, and noticing the small things, Tim has found survival and the sparks of creativity which have kept him creating for a lifetime. If this episode has raised any issues for you, in Australia you can contact Lifeline by phone on 13 11 14.A difficult childhood does not need to define your future or your pathway. After struggling to find solid ground at times throughout her childhood, Sandra Heriot has learnt the importance of nurturing young people and leading with love. The psychologist, adventurer and ultramarathon runner leaves her footprint on every path she has walked, and saying yes to opportunities that have fallen her way, has led her to walking (or running) many different paths.A strong-values leader who leads with kindness, she believes a rising tide lifts all boats and is now driven by her own experience to bring healing and empowerment to others. There are no shortcuts to growth, and we must do hard things, but we can also lend a hand to those around us during the difficult periods in their life. What does Two Am I mean to you? “You are a conversation away from changing your life.” More than philosophy, but a core purpose in Damon Klotz’s teaching and life. The former Work Culture Evangelist at Culture Amp decided to not small and take the leap by sitting front row during the technology boom in Silicon Valley. Klotz has spent his career at the intersection of people and technology, and preaches that true culture is not defined by mission statement, but by the behaviours we witness accept, and promote. Whether we hold a leadership title or not, for most of us, all that is required is the courage to engage in conversation. What does Two Am I mean to you? Sarah Grynberg is living a life of greatness.  She defines it as a life of service, kindness, authenticity and love.  The child that was a dreamer, worked her way into a life with a glitzy job in entertainment, that was marked with achievements and celebrity. But her success masked the internal emptiness she was feeling. Sarah embraced the ‘river of change’, and along the way to finding her Life of Greatness, she has put in the work and had conversations with some of the world’s highest achievers. A life of greatness is available to us all, if we are brave enough and consistent enough to dive into the river of change. The true difference between leaders and managers comes down to ethics. Managers may make the ‘right’ choice, or the popular choice. Leaders push past standard customs and practices, and will follow their moral code to make decisions. Dr Simon Longstaff, Executive Director of The Ethics Centre, has structured his life around philosophy and ethics, after it was modelled to him by his mother when he was just a child, and continued during his early career on Groote Eylandt. True leadership is not about living and modelling a perfect ethical life, there is no such thing, but making conscious choices that align with core values, and sometimes that takes enormous moral courage.Links from the episode: The Ethics Centre Common SenseThe Rights of Man Perfect Days What does Two Am I mean to you? We watched with bated breath, as Ariarne Titmus touched the wall ahead of Katie Ledecky - considered by some to be the greatest female swimmer of all time, but it was far from luck on the day that cemented Ariarne’s name in the history books.    From early on in her life, Arnie had learnt the relationship between hard work and success, a value instilled by her parents that helped forge her path to becoming one of Australia's greatest swimmers.   Paired with her coach, Dean Boxall, their unique relationship built on brutal honesty, shared standards, and unwavering trust, has been the ‘key’ in unlocking the fierce competitor. Beyond the glory is humility, a love for family, and a passion which extends past chasing the black line.    Now on a hiatus from swimming, she shares what’s next for her, and if she will be repping the green and gold in LA in 2028.Keep up to date with Ariarne:Ariarne Titmus Instagram   Ariarne’s 400m gold medal win at the Tokyo Olympics Find TWO AM I on social media here: TWO AM I YouTube TWO AM I Instagram  TWO AM I Tik Tok TWO AM I LinkedIn TWO AM I LinktreeSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

‘Generous, patient and tenacious’ are the three words Des Flanagan says sum him up and always have.
